Effective leadership is one of the most crucial aspects of ensuring successful student achievement. This is applicable especially in schools that are underperforming and facing true challenges, such as lack of resources, low teacher morale, and high teacher turnover rates. This research study enlightens the impact of different leadership styles, such as transformational leadership, distributed leadership and instructional leadership, on student accomplishments. A mixed-method research model was used to collect qualitative data from 7 school leaders through interviews and quantitative data from 25 participants through surveys . The collected data assisted in examining the leadership efficiency of school leaders in term of influencing student learning outcomes. The research underlined that resource allocation, teacher motivation, professional development, and strategic vision are some key determinants of student performance. According to obtained findings, transformational leadership has been identified as having the ability to steer innovative teaching strategies, engagement and collaboration. However, in spite of having certain benefits, school leaders experience different challenges like restricted financial support, maintaining teacher motivation and policy-related restrictions. The research recommended that involving teachers in decision-making process, conducting leadership development workshops, and well-directed coaching sessions to overcome the identified barriers. This aims to ensure optimal leadership efficiency while working with underperforming schools to enhance students’ learning outcomes
Entitlement to Compensation for Prolongation and Disruption Costs in Construction Projects Under Standard Forms of Contract and UAE Civil Law
The dissertation examines the efficacy of the FIDIC 2017 Red Book and the UAE Civil Code (Federal Law No. 5 of 1985) in regulating the entitlement to claims for prolongation and disruption costs in construction projects. It analyses the key contractual and statutory principles governing entitlement, and explores the procedural steps, evidentiary requirements, and practical challenges contractors face in substantiating such claims. The study identifies substantial gaps and challenges within both frameworks, including the absence of defined methodologies for assessing extensions of time, concurrent delay, and disruption quantification. Adopting a doctrinal legal analysis supported by case law, the research introduces the Society of Construction Law Delay and Disruption Protocol (2nd Edition, 2017) as a non-binding guidance document that can supplement contractual and legal procedures. When contractually incorporated, the Protocol can enhance consistency, fairness, and analytical transparency, and gain greater persuasive weight before the UAE courts. However, its provisions cannot override the mandatory principles of the UAE law and must operate within their limits. The dissertation concludes that aligning the FIDIC 2017, the UAE Civil Code, and the SCL Protocol through balanced drafting can significantly improve the administration and resolution of delay and disruption claims in the UAE construction projects.

Determinants of Adoption of Integrated Reporting in an Emerging Market: The Case of UAE
The purpose of this study is to examine the determinants of the voluntary adoption of integrated reporting in the UAE context. The study employs a sample of 34 non-financial companies listed on Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange and Dubai Financial Market. Initially, content analysis is used to assess the quality of integrated reporting and constructing an index to measure integrated reporting quality (IRQ). Then regression analysis is used to examine the relationship between IRQ and selected variables. The results show that there is a positive association between IRQ and firm size, board size, gender diversity and growth opportunity. While the IRQ is negatively related with financial leverage and profitability. The findings of the paper offer important implications for large companies with large board, gender diversity and growth opportunity to utilize integrated reporting to reduce agency problems and signal its prospects. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first empirical study to construct IR index for UAE companies and to examine the determinants of voluntary adoption of IR within the UAE context
Common Disputes in the UAE Construction Sector: Causes and Methods of Resolution
Even though it is a vital contributor to economic development, the construction industry in the UAE is still confronted with continuous stakeholder disputes, which can be costly and damaging to relationships. Most issues stem from ambiguity in contracts, payment disputes, project delays, quality control issues, and regulatory barriers. This dissertation examines prevalent issues in the construction industry of the UAE; investigates their underlying reasons such as the legal intricacies, financial limitations, and communication problems; and assesses the mediation, arbitration, litigation, and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) techniques that have been employed to resolve these disputes. Along with examining how industry best practices, such as proactive risk management and improved contract clarity, might lessen conflicts, this study assesses how well-suited the current legal frameworks and contractual processes are for resolving disputes. The analysis of practical legal experience and relevant literature shows that there are many practical ways to shorten disputes and improve resolution strategies. By establishing effective ADR systems and encouraging a culture of negotiation, the construction industry in the UAE can improve its efficiency, minimise conflicts, and support sustainable development. To turn the UAE's construction sector into a model of effectiveness, resilience, and long-term growth, a forward-thinking strategy that incorporates cutting-edge technologies, transparent legal frameworks, and cooperative dispute resolution procedures would be essential
أثر التحول الرقمي على الأداء المؤسسي في مؤسسات البناء والتشييد في دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة: الدور المعدّل للثقافة المؤسسية
This study investigates the influence of Digital Transformation (DT) on Organisational Performance (OP) in UAE construction organisations, moderated by Organisational Culture (OC). Despite national strategies like UAE Vision 2030, the construction sector remains hesitant to embrace DT or translate digital investments into measurable performance gains. Addressing this gap, the study assesses current DT maturity, its direct impact on OP, and the moderating effect of OC. Adopting a positivist, quantitative, deductive, and cross-sectional design, a structured 30-item questionnaire (5-point Likert scale with an optional final open-ended question) was distributed to professionals across diverse roles, organisation types and sizes, yielding 81 valid responses (from 86 surveyed professionals). Data were analysed using SPSS and Excel using descriptive statistics, ANOVA, Cronbach’s Alpha, Pearson’s correlation, and regression and moderation analyses. Findings revealed moderate-to-high DT maturity, with strong adoption of BIM and cloud technologies but limited use of IoT and AI. Sectoral resistance (notably in infrastructure) and size-based variations in OC were also observed. Regression analysis showed DT accounted for 54.6% of the variance in OP (supporting H1), while moderation analysis revealed a significant but negative interaction effect (rejecting H2), indicating that stronger OC may hinder DT benefits unless strategically aligned. The study contributes to the TOE and IBV frameworks by highlighting the critical role of a cultural alignment—rather than strength—in enhancing DT outcomes. Practical implications include developing a Cultural Alignment Index and UAE-specific, sectoral DT frameworks. Limitations include a small sample size and reliance on self-reported data. Future research should adopt longitudinal or mixed methods and explore cross-GCC comparisons
Contractor Entitlement To Payments Under UAE And Singapore Law
This study aimed to investigated and compare legal frameworks in Singapore and the UAE focusing on contractor payment rights, statutory protection, and mechanisms to ensure timely payment. A structured legal research methodology which incorporated doctrinal, non-doctrinal, and comparative approaches was employed to analyse contractor payment rights in Singapore and the UAE. Singapore’s system, driven by the Security of Payment Act (SOPA), the SOPA offers robust statutory protections that ensure contractors’ rights to progress payments and have access to adjudication, effectively mitigating payment delays and disputes. In contrast, the UAE relies on broader principles of good faith under the UAE Civil Transactions Law and provisions of standard forms of contract such as FIDIC and Dubai Municipality contracts. Even though UAE’s frameworks provide structured payment terms, they lack the efficiency and enforceability of Singapore’s statutory approach. Dispute resolution mechanisms also differ, with Singapore’s adjudication offering cost-effective and timely solutions, whereas the UAE's reliance on arbitration can be time-consuming and expensive. It could be argued that UAE could benefit from improvements such as the introduction of a statutory framework akin to SOPA to enhance contractor protection and improve efficiency. In both jurisdictions, further advancements such as the use of digital tools for claims processing and additional safeguards for subcontractors could strengthen the existing system
The Impact of Flexible Organizational Structure on Universities Employee’s Performance and the Moderated Role of Commitment Culture
In today's volatile environment, where effective interaction with organizational structures is essential, flexibility plays a pivotal role in providing organizations with a competitive edge. This research aims to investigate how the flexibility of organizational structures impacts the performance of employees in universities in the UAE, moderated by commitment culture.
This quantitative study tests a hypothesized model using data from 100 university employees. The findings indicate that flexible organizational structure significantly influences employee performance; an increase in organizational flexibility correlates with enhanced employee performance. However, the study reveals that commitment culture does not strengthen the relationship between flexible organizational structure and employee performance
Model for Calculating the Estimate-At-Completion (EAC) in Building Construction Projects in U.A.E. (EVM8)
The building construction sector plays a crucial role in national economic development, yet it often faces cost and time overruns. In the UAE, rapid urbanization and economic growth intensify these challenges, driven by fragmented project structures, frequent design changes, and external market fluctuations. The managers of a construction project always face the risk of exceeding their initially set budgets. This research introduces an enhanced Estimate-At-Completion (EAC) model, EVM8, tailored to the UAE's construction industry but can be applied to other regions with minor customization. Unlike traditional Earned Value Management (EVM) models that rely primarily on cost and schedule indices, EVM8 incorporates additional factors (or indices) such as quality, safety, risk, team dynamics, market conditions, and regional stability. The study employs a comprehensive literature review, a structured survey targeting UAE construction professionals, and case studies of high-rise and low-rise buildings to validate the model. Findings demonstrate that EVM8 provides more accurate EAC predictions by integrating new metrics and reducing project overruns. This research contributes theoretically by expanding EVM to include multifaceted variables and practically by equipping UAE construction professionals with a robust practical tool for precise cost forecasting. The EVM8 model offers a valuable framework for enhancing project management, supporting the successful delivery of construction projects in dynamic environments.
