    Curriculum Policies at Language Departments in British schools in the UAE: From Theory into Practice.

    Curriculum policies are a fundamental foundation for the establishment of educational framework from primary to secondary level. When there are sound policies guiding the curriculum, it is. very easy to implement the curriculum in schools. An effective curriculum provides teachers, students, school leaders and community stakeholders with a measurable plan and structure to deliver quality education. The curriculum sets out the learning outcomes, standards, and core competencies that students need to demonstrate before they progress to the next level. This study focuses on curriculum policies at British schools in the Emirate of Dubai, The United Arab Emirates. The primary purpose of this research is to provide insights into how curriculum policies govern school curriculums in language departments, particularly in Arabic language learning departments. The literature related to this study provides background knowledge on the past and current policy position in determining the effectiveness of language curricula in the UAE. A mixed methods approach was used in this study to measure the competence of the school administrators through quantitative and qualitative data. This has involved an investigation of 5 British schools in Dubai through interviews in order to get a clear picture of how the curriculum policies are being followed. The combined results of the quantitative and qualitative analysis show a gap between the policy and its actual implementation in language areas. The leadership of the school is therefore required to see to it that strong principles are applied and that such policies are continually monitored in the language departments of all British schools in Dubai

    The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has put a lot of effort into ensuring that essential accommodations and adaptations to the curriculum and setting for learning are effectively offered and implemented in regular classrooms. Law number 26 was enacted as the first law to safeguard the rights of people of determination in 2006. The Ministry of Education introduced guidelines for the provisions to include students with needs in 2007. Furthermore, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) created a guide for schools in 2017, which includes crucial instructions for schools to adopt and implement high-quality inclusive educational standards for pupils of determination. A student's academic, social, and well-being may be profoundly impacted by ADHD, a neurodevelopmental disease characterized by behaviors such as inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. Examining the experiences and difficulties faced by learners who have ADHD in traditional educational settings is critical given the rising incidence of ADHD in the world. In this aspect, teachers' attitudes are crucial when evaluating the success of inclusion and appropriate assistance for students with ADHD. This study assesses general education teachers' attitudes towards incorporating ADHD students in their regular classrooms and focuses on learning how teachers perceive including ADHD students in the usual classroom environment. Data was gathered using a mixed-methods approach in which semi-structured interviews were conducted after administering a questionnaire to the entire teaching team. Ten teachers from pre-primary, primary, and high school participated in the semi-structured interview. The results show that teachers' views on incorporating ADHD students in regular classes are subjective and based on their own experiences. Teachers can foster a friendly learning environment in the classroom by utilizing a variety of methods of instruction, providing support and motivation to students with ADHD followed by collaboration with the Special Education Needs (SEN) department. The implications of this study go beyond the setting of private schools. Similar school systems and authorities to improve their inclusive education practices for ADHD children can use these findings. Trying to create more inclusive and encouraging learning environments for everyone by understanding the particular needs of those children and putting the recommended adjustments into practice. Significant recommendations have been compiled to help mainstream teachers better understand how to incorporate students with ADHD as well as recommendations for additional study to contribute to the UAE perspective and other neurological illnesses. In conclusion, this research provides insightful information that will aid policymakers, administrators, and educators in promoting inclusive education and enhancing results for ADHD students

    Exploring the Frontiers of Cybersecurity Behavior: ASystematic Review of Studies and Theories

    Cybersecurity procedures and policies are prevalent countermeasures for protecting organi zations from cybercrimes and security incidents. Without considering human behaviors, implement ing these countermeasures will remain useless. Cybersecurity behavior has gained much attention in recent years. However, a systematic review that provides extensive insights into cybersecurity behavior through different technologies and services and covers various directions in large-scale research remains lacking. Therefore, this study retrieved and analyzed 2210 articles published on cybersecurity behavior. The retrieved articles were then thoroughly examined to meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria, in which 39 studies published between 2012 and 2021 were ultimately picked for further in-depth analysis. The main findings showed that the protection motivation theory (PMT) dominated the list of theories and models examining cybersecurity behavior. Cybersecurity behavior and intention behavior counted for the highest purpose for most studies, with fewer studies focusing on cybersecurity awareness and compliance behavior. Most examined studies were conducted in individualistic contexts with limited exposure to collectivistic societies. A total of 56% of the analyzed studies focused on the organizational level, indicating that the individual level is still in its infancy stage. To address the research gaps in cybersecurity behavior at the individual level, this review proposes a number of research agendas that can be considered in future research. This review is believed to improve our understanding by revealing the full potential of cybersecurity behavior and opening the door for further research opportunities

    Extrinsic rewards for employee creativity? The role of perceived organisational support, work engagement andintrinsic motivation

    Purpose– This study aims to investigate the relationship between extrinsic rewards and employee creativity through the intervening mechanism of perceived organisational support (POS) and work engagement. The moderating role of intrinsic motivation on the relationship between work engagement and employee creativity is also examined. Design/methodology/approach– The authors report the results of a survey completed by 372 respondents employed in the United Arab Emirates. Structural equation modelling was applied to test the hypothesised relationships. Findings– The main findings are that extrinsic rewards influence employee creativity through POS and work engagement. Moreover, the effect of work engagement on employee creativity is moderated by intrinsic motivation. This modeleffect is stronger for employees with high intrinsic motivation.     Mitigating undercooling and overheating risk in existing desert schools under current and future climate using validated building simulation model

    In Palestine and neighboring regions, buildings are constructed without insulation and mechanical heating and cooling systems, leading to significant thermal discomfort for occupants. To address this issue, the paper in troduces a robust methodology that utilizes a validated building simulation model (BSM) created based on hourly indoor air temperature to assess indoor thermal comfort during winter and summer seasons under both current and future climates. This methodology is applied to an existing school built in 1990 in Jericho-Palestine, which has a hot desert climate. Classrooms rely on the thermal mass to increase the indoor temperature in the winter, and natural ventilation to reduce it in the summer. The effect of climate change on indoor thermal conditions is evaluated using typical warmer and colder future years based on the latest SSP5-8.5 scenario. The results showed that the calibrated and validated BSM achieved a highly accurate prediction of indoor air temperature compared to indoor air measured temperature. The validated BSM showed extreme cold for 880 h (91% of wintertime) and excessive heat for 90 h (19% of summertime) during school days. Passive winter measures, including high insulation and airtightness level, and using double glass windows, reduce undercooling to less than 40 h but increase overheating to 180 h. Passive summer measures, including night cooling and exterior shading, are necessary to reduce overheating to around 40 h. These measures are still effective in resisting the cold future years, but more creative passive summer measures and/or a mechanical cooling system are needed

    The influence of perceived organizational support on employee creativity: The mediating role of work engagement

    The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between perceived organizational support and employee creativity mediated by work engagement. We report the results from a questionnaire survey on a sample of 492 professional employees (219, 44.51% females and 273, 55.49% males) employed in two major industries in the United Kingdom. Our findings based on regression analysis show that work engagement mediates the relationship between perceived organizational support and employee creativity. In summary, employees who experience perceived organizational support will promote work engagement and employee creativity more so than employees with low levels of perceived organizational support. We contribute to knowledge by proposing an overall theoretical background to organizational support theory and the job demands-resources model by incorporating social exchange theory. To-date, very few studies have examined the role of work engagement in the relationship between perceived organizational support and employee creativity. While researchers know how perceived organizational support effects employees’ commitment, productivity, satisfaction and turnover intention, this study concentrates on how perceived organizational support leads to employee creativity

    Autism Detection of MRI Brain Images Using Hybrid Deep CNN With DM-Resnet Classifier

In this paper, deepConvolutionalNeuralNetwork(CNN)withDwarfMongooseoptimizedResidualNetwork(DM ResNet) is proposed for the classification of autism disorder from Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) brain images. Initially, the input brain images are preprocessed to remove the non-brain tissues. The preprocessed images are segmented with hybrid Fuzzy C Means (FCM) and Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM) which partition the image into sub groups to make it easier for classification by reducing the complexity. FCM GMMsegmentsthevolumeintopredefinedcorticalandsubcorticalregions.Aftersegmentation,thefeatures are extracted with Visual Geometry Group (VGG)-16 networks which comprised of several tiny kernels with filters for enhancing the depth of network and permit to extract complicated and discriminative features. Region of Interest (ROI) based functional connectivity feature is extracted with VGG-16 and these features are classified with DM optimized ResNet. The hyper parameters are optimized with DM optimization algorithm which improves the accuracy of classifier. By using the proposed approach, the accuracy of autism detection is improved to 99.83%

    Technology, innovation and SMEs’ export intensity: Evidence from Morocco

    This study seeks to understand the scarcely examined relationships between SMEs’ foreign technology licensing, R&D expenditure, innovation and export intensity. Espousing an integrated open innovation and self-selection paradigm, observations of 446 Moroccan SMEs are analysed through structural equation modelling. The defin itive path analysis showed that foreign technology licensing and R&D expenditure distinctively affect innovation and, in turn, innovation increases export intensity. In further insights, to illustrate how the distribution of these inputs enhances internationalisation, a probabilistic analysis shows that foreign technology licensing, R&D expenditure and innovation will incrementally stimulate export intensity by >71 %. The permutations of these variables in the fresh setting of Morocco summon scholars’ empirical attention at the same time as policymakers’ consideration

    SOFT LAW IN INTERNATIONAL INVESTMENT LAW

    This paper aims to analyse the concept of soft laws and its significance in international law with special emphasis on its effect on international investment law. Soft laws are legally non-binding but may be construed as politically binding instruments that have legal implications on participants.In this paper, the authors have relied upon the works of legal scholars and arbitral jurisprudence to understand their observations about the role of soft laws such as the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) Resolution 1803 of 1962 on Permanent Sovereignty over Natural Resources and subsequent related declarations of the Assembly of 1973 and 1974 respectively, the 1968 UNESCO Recommendation concerning the preservation of Cultural Property Endangered by Public or Private Works, the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR), the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises of 1976, the International Bar Association (IBA) Guidelines on Conflicts of Interest in International Arbitration, and decisions of international courts and tribunals to mention just a few, and apply such observations to the present times to analyse the strengths and drawbacks of soft law in the current international investment law context. The paper argues that although formally non-binding, yet in practice soft law instruments do influence the behavior of states and foreign investors either directly or indirectly. They also play a significant role in the formulation of international law by serving as precursors to the formulation of binding rules by states or by developing the rights and obligations of the parties mainly through interpretation of vague or open-ended investment treaty provisions by arbitral tribunal

    Securing Big Data Integrity for Industrial IoT in Smart Manufacturing Based on the Trusted Consortium Blockchain (TCB)

    The smart manufacturing ecosystem enhances the end-to-end efficiency of the mine-to market lifecycle to create the value chain using the big data generated rapidly by edge computing devices, third-party technologies, and various stakeholders connected via the industrial Internet of things. In this context, smart manufacturing faces two serious challenges to its industrial IoT big data integrity: real-time transaction monitoring and peer validation due to the volume and velocity dimensions of big data in industrial IoT infrastructures. Modern blockchain technologies as an embedded layer substantially address these challenges to empower the capabilities of the IIoT layer to meet the integrity requirements of the big data layer. This paper presents the trusted consortium blockchain (TCB) framework to provide an optimal solution for big data integrity through a secure and verifiable hyperledger fabric modular (HFM). The TCB leverages trustworthiness in heterogeneous IIoT networks of governing end-point peers to achieve strong integrity for big data and support high transaction throughput and low latency of HFM contents. Our proposed framework drives the fault-tolerant properties and consensus protocols to monitor malicious activities of tunable peers if compromised and validates the signed evidence of big data recorded in real-time HFM operated over different smart manufacturing environments. Experimentally, the TCB has been evaluated and reached tradeoff results of throughput and latency better than the comparative consortium blockchain frameworks
