Modal Dynamics of Combined Offshore Wind Turbine and Monopile Foundation System: A Seismic Impact Assessment Study on System Dynamism
For the sustainability transition to evolve at a rapid pace, complex engineering systems are required to be reliable and effective in their operability. Even though offshore wind energy systems are a few decades old now, global adoption is not strong due to reliability issues, construction, operation, and maintenance complexities. The primary uncertainty in the structural engineering of this system lies in the dynamic behavior which is almost impossible to accurately compute. Seismic interactions at the seabed further complicate this. This dissertation conducts an in-depth modal dynamics analysis of an integrated offshore wind turbine and monopile foundation system, employing finite element analysis techniques. The study encompasses frequency domain analysis, eigenvalue extraction, and modal dynamic steps, incorporating seismic loads inspired by significant earthquake events, and the seismic impact on the system's dynamism is evaluated by evaluating system field and history outputs across system modal dynamics. Critical insights regarding the geometric variation effects on the dynamic traits of the combined system are retrieved by careful comparative evaluation
The Impact of School Leaders’ Feedback in Enhancing Teachers’ Performance towards School Improvement: A Single Case Study among Teachers in a Private School in Dubai
The constructive feedback provided by school leaders is considered a powerful tool that enhances teachers’ motivation, engagement, and performance towards school improvement. This study aims to understand the influence of feedback provided by school leaders on teachers' professional growth and overall performance within the context of school improvement. The research is a single case study allowing an in-depth understanding of the participants' perspectives and experiences. It involved two sets of qualitative questionnaires to collect data from school leaders and subject teachers respectively. The data was then analysed to identify the influence of school leaders’ feedback on teachers’ performance towards school improvement. The main addressed research question is ‘What is the influence of school leaders’ feedback in shaping teachers’ job towards school improvement?’. The findings of the current study prove that school leaders' feedback improves the quality of teaching instructions, fosters a loyal culture among staff members, develops teachers as leaders in their positions, and enhances school performance through better students’ academic achievements. The implications of this study would offer educational leaders’ and practitioners’ valuable insights for improving feedback practices and promoting continuous professional growth among teachers. The foremost limitation of the current study is the inability to generalize the research outcomes being a single case study with a limited sample size and research time framework. Therefore, for future studies it is recommended that the investigation could be implemented in different settings to compare findings and generalize suggestions. It has been concluded that effective feedback imparted by school leaders upon teachers’ observation is a critical factor in school improvement process
Examining the impact of Industry 5.0 on economic sustainability: A hybrid SEM-ANN approach
While there is an existence of a significant amount of literature studies on industrial revolution there exist a scarce knowledge about examining the impact of Industry 5.0 on economic sustainability using a hybrid SEM-ANN approach. The study aims at understanding the impact of industrial 5.0 on economic sustainability. A Quantitative analysis was done with data collected from over 363 participants. Two stage analytical techniques were applied in this work which involves the combination of ANN and with the PLS-SEM. First, PLS-SEM is used to enable understand the predictors and their significant influence on the sustained use of industrial 5.0 revolution. The results show that there is a positive and non-significant relationship between predictors and industrial 5.0 revolution on sustainability. The outcome of this study as provided valuable insight for those countries willing to adopt industrial 5.0 revolution to understand its impact on economic sustainability
A Critical Investigation of the Effectiveness of Career and University Guidance on Secondary Students in the Abu Dhabi, U.A.E.
The UAE government has made significant investments in education, focusing on improving secondary school careers and university guidance programs. However, research on the effectiveness of these programs in Abu Dhabi is limited. An online survey of 175 students investigated the effectiveness of career and university counselling on students' decision-making and future aspirations in 10th, 11th, and 12th grade. Guided by the social cognitive career theory, the study measured student engagement in various activities, student knowledge and self-efficacy, student decision on a career choice, student satisfaction with counselling services, and perceived benefits of the career and university counselling program. This study mostly used a cross-sectional exploratory quantitative research design. The online survey was followed by semi-structured email interviews with three professionals in career and university guidance, shed light on the program resources and current challenges and offered recommendations.
The study results supported the reliability and construct validity of the latent variables of knowledge, self-efficacy and satisfaction with counselling services. The maximum likelihood common factor PLS-SEM contributed to the nomological validity of these latent variables. The study results were consistent with the published literature. The maximum likelihood common factor (PLS) SEM model revealed that the usage of counselling services, student knowledge and self-efficacy, and student satisfaction with the counselling services explain 46% of the variance in student decisions on career choice. Nevertheless, only 25% of the variance in perceived benefits of the program is explained by these factors, suggesting that there may be room for improvement. The qualitative feedback from the three school experts added rigour, authenticity, and creditability to the online survey results. While the program is moderately effective in influencing student decision-making on career choice, counselling programs can further enhance their impact and perceived benefits by emphasising community engagement and mentorship and ensuring the availability of counselling resources. This includes providing timely information about university application deadlines, enhancing knowledge about diverse working conditions, and ensuring the guidance provided is comprehensive and based on accurate information.

Research Study to Explore Impact of Educational Technology on Student Achievement
The use of educational technology has become increasingly prevalent in recent years, with many schools and educators integrating technology into their teaching practices. The purpose of this study is to explore the impact of educational technology on student achievement. The study will examine the various ways in which technology is being used in classrooms, including the use of online resources, interactive whiteboards, and mobile devices. The study will employ a mixed-methods approach, including both quantitative and qualitative data collection methods. Quantitative data will be collected through surveys and standardized test scores, while qualitative data will be collected through interviews with teachers and students, classroom observations, and document analysis.
The literature review will explore previous research on the use of educational technology in the classroom, including studies that have examined the impact of technology on student achievement. The review will also explore the various theories and models that underpin the use of educational technology in teaching and learning, including constructivism, connectivism, and the SAMR model.
The results of the study will provide insights into the impact of educational technology on student achievement, and will inform educators and policymakers on the most effective ways to integrate technology into their teaching practices. The study will also provide a better understanding of the challenges and opportunities that come with the use of educational technology in the classroom, and will identify areas for future research. This study will provide insight into how technology affects education and how it might boost student performance. This project will assist build evidence-based policies and practices to promote educational technology by studying how educational technology affects student accomplishment
Deep Learning for the Extraction of Aspects in Textual Opinions
This study aimed to explore the effectiveness of deep learning models, including Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), Recurrent Neural Networks (RNNs), Transformer-based models, and Graph Neural Networks (GNNs), in aspect-based sentiment analysis (ABSA) of textual opinions. The research conducted a comprehensive literature review to analyse existing studies and articles in the field, focusing on comparing the performance of deep learning models with traditional rule-based or lexicon-based approaches. The findings indicated that deep learning models demonstrated promising results and surpassed the performance of traditional methods in ABSA. CNN-based models, in particular, achieved remarkable outcomes on benchmark datasets. Transformer-based models, such as BERT and RoBERTa, also exhibited strong performance across various natural language processing tasks, including sentiment analysis. Additionally, GNNs showcased potential in leveraging text structure to improve aspect and sentiment extraction. The research identified a research gap, emphasizing the need for further exploration and advancements in the utilization of deep learning models for ABSA. This study contributes to the understanding of the potential of deep learning in ABSA and provides insights for future research in this field
The Knowledge-Evolving Project: Fundamentals to a Complete Project Knowledge Management Discipline
This open access book presents contributions on a wide range of scientific areas originating from the BUiD Doctoral Research Conference (BDRC 2022)This paper establishes a knowledge management doctrine unique to the field of project management. The paper investigates and expands on the theoretical frameworks and practices of organisational knowledge management – which is the dominate doctrine in the discipline of knowledge management – to deduce a theory and a practice of project knowledge management that is distinctive from other knowledge management fields. It is discovered that the knowledge dynamics at the foundational level of project knowledge management is a symmetrical transposition of that of organisational knowledge management. Thus, the Knowledge-Evolving Project doctrine is established as the inverse of the Knowledge-Creating Company. Exploring a knowledge management discipline distinctive to project management inevitably leads to new insights that are potentially significant to managing knowledge in projects in particular and to knowledge management discipline in general. Most of the current literature on project knowledge management is almost indistinguishable from organisational knowledge management. The very same theoretical and empirical concepts and ideas are applied interchangeably in both management fields. This paper takes the rare step of creating a new theory and practice of project knowledge management such that it is distinctive from other knowledge management fields
A Quantitative Study on the Impact of Online Learning on Reading Comprehension Skills
This open access book presents contributions on a wide range of scientific areas originating from the BUiD Doctoral Research Conference (BDRC 2022)This quantitative study aims to investigate the relationship between e-education and reading comprehension skills acquisition. It also examines if the previous relationship may impact students’ results in the exams. It also analyses the relationship between students’ knowledge in ICT and their perception and acceptance of online education. To collect data, A survey was sent to students to measure their perception of and satisfaction with online learning. Moreover, the marks of 105 students in an on-campus test were compared to the marks of another one they did online during the pandemic. The study agreed with the previous studies that e-learning can impact the reading skills positively and that students are getting aware of its educational benefits. On the other hand, the study did not agree with other studies about students’ knowledge of ICT and how it can positively impact their perception of online education. The study showed that although secondary students have sufficient knowledge of ICT, they do not have positive perceptions of online education
Innovation Management in Organizations: A Review on Responsible Innovation Practices
The study's purpose is to investigate the role of innovation management assessment, responsible innovation, policy perspective, and perception of responsible innovation in the successful implementation of responsible innovation processes. The data was collected through an online questionnaire, and the findings provide theoretical and practical insights. Mainly, researcher used the regression analysis to evaluate the collected data. The results support existing theories such as the "Triple Helix model," "Innovation System theory," "Diffusion of Innovation theory," and the "Knowledge Attitude Behavior" model, while also challenging some theories regarding the impact of policy perspectives on innovation success. The study highlights the significance of cultivating a positive outlook towards responsible innovation, establishing robust innovation management protocols, shaping supportive policies, and enhancing awareness and understanding of responsible innovation. The findings hold relevance for managers, policymakers, and stakeholders, emphasizing the importance of integrating ethical considerations, implementing responsible innovation strategies, and fostering collaboration. The study concludes with recommendations for organizations and policymakers in the UAE to effectively implement responsible innovation and build a sustainable innovation ecosystem
Understanding the Impact of Smartwatch Use on Environmental Sustainability Using a Hybrid SEM-ANN Approach
While smartwatches have many advantages for physical activity and health, their use can also result in electronic waste and the depletion of resources. The study aims to fill the current knowledge gap about the relationship between smartwatch use and environmental sustainability via an extended UTAUT2 theoretical model and subsequently validated and evaluated using a hybrid SEM-ANN technique to achieve this.
Three models were deployed in the ANN (Use, Effort Expectancy, and Performance Expectancy). Most participants in this study, comprising 303 smartwatch owners from the United Arab Emirates, reported using their watches mostly for fitness-related activities. Of the 13 hypotheses put forth by the study, the model supports 10 of them while rejecting the other 3.
The findings of this research hold strategic importance for researchers and professionals involved in developing smartwatches. The insights gained from this study can guide and inform future research and development efforts in the field. Understanding the impact of smartwatch usage on environmental sustainability is particularly relevant and timely, considering the growing concerns about ecological balance and resource conservation.
By identifying the specific constructs that significantly influence the adoption and use of smartwatches and their relationship with environmental sustainability, this study provides valuable insights for designing more sustainable and user-friendly smartwatch technologies. Researchers and developers can leverage these findings to inform smartwatches’ design, marketing, and implementation strategies to promote greater acceptance and sustainable usage patterns
