Strategic Foresight and Cost Effective Leadership in Organizations: A Case Study of the UAE Manufacturing Sector
The current thesis sought to critically investigate the not-so-common relationship between strategic foresight and costs saving leadership practices in manufacturing organizations in the UAE. The lack of previous studies scrutinizing this relationship and the research’s hypothesis of the possibility of a relationship between the two constructs provided impulse for the study. The aim was to justify whether there is a relationship between strategic foresight and cost savings in manufacturing organizations and use this knowledge, if affirmative, to come forth with a framework for the effective application of strategic foresight on costs savings efforts in manufacturing companies in UAE. The methodological approach adopted for the research was deductive based on the positivist philosophy, using a survey questionnaire to collect quantitative data from a sample of the population.
Analysis of the data gathered was conducted using structural equation modeling (SEM) critical path analysis via SPSS AMOS v.26. The results from the critical path analysis of the structural model revealed a strong relationship between strategic foresight and costs savings approaches. This confirmed the hypothesis of the study that there is a relationship between strategic foresight and cost saving leadership efforts in manufacturing organizations. Other relationships between sub-constructs in the study were also tested and the study was able to culminate with the development of a model for the integrated successful application for strategic foresight on cost savings efforts in the manufacturing sector in the UAE. A framework for the effective application of strategic framework on cost saving efforts in manufacturing companies in the UAE was developed that would assist manufacturing companies in effectively managing their costs through the application of strategic foresight tools. The broad base nature of the research was identified as one of its major limitations and recommendations were made that future studies should focus efforts on one manufacturing organization while actually studying the quanta of costs savings that can be arrived at through application of strategic foresight
Analysing Factors Influencing AI Implementation Effectiveness in the UAE Public Sector
This research examines factors influencing AI implementation effectiveness in the public sector. Governments globally compete to advance public sector services and transform public services to digital to fulfil continuous citizens and business demands to reach the expectation of state-of-the-art services. Thus, governments worldwide are racing to utilise advanced Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). Hence, governments implement Artificial Intelligence systems to develop cutting-edge platforms, serving as a base for the government's journey to AI-based government transformation. Existing literature reveals that organisations' cognitive technology projects fail to meet their successful implementation. Therefore, the AI-deployed system fails to deliver the expected performance and objective outcome. Further, scholars discuss gaps in AI field literature and reveal the absence of public sector articles since most AI articles are technical. Also, there is a literature gap in empirical quantitative theory-based research and research measuring the effectiveness of AI system implementation. Moreover, scholars reveal that nations' AI strategies are inspirational and lack implementation guidance. Consequently, this research aims to fill the gap in the literature by creating a theory-based, quantitative study to examine factors that influence the implementation effectiveness of Artificial Intelligence in the public sector at the organisational level from a technology, organisation, and environment perspective. Based on the extensive literature review, the thesis formulates a theoretical framework that combines the Diffusion of Innovation Theory (DOI), the Institutional Theory (INT), and the Technology – Organisation – Environment Framework (T.O.E) to act as the researcher's lens to view the study world. This study tested hypotheses based on literature and existing theories. Hence, the researcher adopted objectivist worldwide ontology, positivist epistemology, explanatory deductive reasoning, and a quantitative method as study philosophy to examine the relationship between the study factors. The research findings indicate a significant relationship between study factors. However, the results show a lack of significance between technology compatibility, usability, and effectiveness of AI implementation. Further, the study results reveal an insignificant relationship between culture impact and AI implementation effectiveness in the UAE public sector. The research implies that public sector top management is critical to AI system implementation; therefore, public sector top management must have cognitive technology knowledge and understand the Technology – organisation – Environment aspects for implementing AI systems. To effectively implement AI systems, top management should plan strategically to retain organisation data with quality, create a collaborative culture, strategically demonstrate the organisation's competitive advantage, cooperate with human resources to hire AI expertise to lead AI-based projects and adopt an implementation framework

Globally, there has been considerable concern about education reform to prepare future citizens for the unpredictable demand for labour. It is widely agreed among stakeholders in the education industry that teachers are central to the learning and teaching processes. However, promoting teacher quality concerns leaders in the education sector, and significant efforts to raise teacher quality are paramount to government leaders. At this level, teacher licensure has been introduced to measure teachers' performance and prepare them for the education industry. Saudi Arabia is moving steadily and swiftly toward Vision 2030 to prepare the young generation to pursue advanced studies. Accordingly, the Educational & Training Evaluation Commission (ETEC) has teamed up with the Ministry of Education in Saudi Arabia to update and raise the 'Teacher Licensure Programme' bar.
The exploratory sequential mixed method aimed to investigate the development and implementation of the 2019 teacher licensure programme in Saudi Arabia. The study was based on reviewing policies of best practices and stakeholders' perceptions. During the study, a model framework was proposed to the relevant stakeholders and educational leaders aligned with Gulf culture and international standards.
The study consisted of three stages. In the first stage, six policies were reviewed and analyzed to compare international, regional, and local licensures and collected secondary data from official documents. During this stage, the researcher conducted an in-depth interview with an ETEC policymaker, who provided insight and enlightened the researcher regarding the programme's foundation. Stage two delved into a large portion of stakeholders. The study collected quantitative data from 306 teachers from public schools who shared their experiences and perceptions of the licensing exam through an online survey. The last stage collected qualitative data through a school leaders' questionnaire and a policymaker interview. The qualitative data investigated leaders' perspectives on the teachers' data findings and the implementation of licensing in schools based on principals, supervisors, and a policymaker's point of view.
Stage one findings were linked to international and regional practices. A comparative study revealed a lack of career development at the college level and during in-service training in Saudi Arabia. Furthermore, there is a need for a standardized teacher evaluation system that includes constructive feedback and reflection. Based on stage two findings, teachers expressed negative views regarding the current licensing programme. In addition, phase three findings followed up on teachers' perceptions from the perspective of school leaders and policymakers.
This study filled a critical gap in the theoretical field of teacher licensing in the Gulf Region. Additionally, the research suggested a flexible framework based on the best practices and the perceptions and experiences of the stakeholders. The framework asserted that the licensing examination is one of several teacher evaluation methods
Factors Influencing Construction Waste Generation in Building Construction: A Case of UAE
In this research, an extensive examination was carried out, investigating the issue of construction waste production in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This issue is of particular importance considering the high-speed urban development and extensive construction activities occurring within the country. A comprehensive understanding of construction waste, its origins, and implications on environmental stability and societal prosperity is imperative.
The central insight from this investigation is that the production of construction waste is a layered issue, influenced by numerous interrelated elements. The method of study was quantitative, aimed at pinpointing these elements and determining their impacts. Data was amassed via a survey and processed using statistical methodologies like Cronbach's alpha and regression analysis. Crucial contributors to construction waste in the UAE were identified as sub-optimal design and planning procedures, antiquated construction techniques, subpar materials, and inadequate storage approaches.
Furthermore, the study unearthed those issues within site management such as poor waste segregation, lack of planning, and incorrect material manipulation substantially add to the problem. Deficiencies in stringent waste management rules and enforcement within UAE's regulatory framework also fuel waste production. Unique attributes of the UAE, such as fast-paced construction, large-scale projects, local environmental conditions, and cultural nuances, intensify waste production.
The findings emphasize the urgent need for an all-encompassing strategy for managing construction waste in the UAE. Any devised strategies need to address a variety of challenges, from design and planning processes to site management, all the way to regulatory enforcement. A crucial element of the study was also the highlighting of the need for industry-wide awareness and education to foster a mindset of waste reduction.
This research paves the way for future investigations into managing construction waste, offering potential focus areas such as the influence of technological advancements, cultural and environmental factors unique to the UAE, policy interventions, and the role of private sectors in minimizing waste. The study further suggests an exploration into construction waste within the parameters of circular economy concepts as a novel path to sustainable construction.
This study provides an in-depth understanding of construction waste generation in the UAE, paving the way for more efficient and sustainable practices in the industry. It offers valuable insights for stakeholders, policymakers, and researchers seeking to tackle this critical issue, ultimately contributing to a more sustainable construction sector in the UAE
Embedding Evidence-Based Practice in Teaching-Learning Strategies in Undergraduate Physiotherapy Clinical Training in Abu Dhabi: Clinical Educators’ Perspective
Background: Evidence-based practice (EBP) is an essential attribute in the healthcare setting. Prior to conducting this study, there was a lack of contextualized information as to how introduction and enhancement of EBP among physiotherapy students are carried over into undergraduate clinical training.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to understand teaching-learning strategies that enhance physiotherapy undergraduates’ evidence-based practice during clinical training from the perspective of clinical educators.
Methods: A qualitative approach was used which involved key-informant in-depth interviews with physiotherapy clinical educators of physiotherapy students in Abu Dhabi (n=12). Clinical educator participants are physiotherapy clinicians in private hospitals and rehabilitation centres in Abu Dhabi. The audio-recorded interviews were transcribed and underwent thematic analysis using NVivo 12.
Results: Thematic analysis revealed that clinical educators recognized seven strategies aimed at enhancing students’ evidence-based practice during clinical placement as: (1) case presentation, (2) problem-based learning, (3) skills demonstration, (4) shadowing, (5) following patient’s progress, (6) exposure to a variety of patient cases, and (7) exposure to different clinical educators.
Conclusion: Clinical educators of physiotherapy students in Abu Dhabi employ a variety of teaching-learning strategies that enhance the adoption of an evidence-based physiotherapy practice by students during undergraduate clinical training
Link between Transformational Leadership and Organizational Efficiency & Employee Performance
The study investigated the impact of transformational leadership on efficiency and employee performance in engineering organizations in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). During the last two decades, transformational leadership (TL) has gained much importance and a conspicuous place in leadership philosophies. Therefore, it is not surprising that the current evolution in leadership theory and practice has increased a lot of attention from researchers and practitioners in the context of organizational efficiency. The problems in all organizations are present, and moving on with them is necessary. The issues addressed in this proposal and solved are related to efficiencies and completing tasks and projects on time. The study’s specific objectives were to analyse the impact of transformational leadership on the efficiency of organizations, to identify the impact of transformational leadership on employee performance, and to recommend way through which the efficiency of organizations can be improved using the TL approach by the end of 2024. Therefore, this investigation will explain the best approach to managing the followers and improving the overall efficiency of business operations without negatively influencing followers’ motivation. The specific problem addressed in this study is finding inspiration among followers through the TL approach and completing all the tasks in time without losing motivation. For this purpose, the companies operating in the construction engineering sector will be presented with recommendations for improving efficiency. The primary methodologies adopted in the study included a descriptive research design and a quantitative research approach that influenced the selection of subsequent techniques. Purposive sampling was used in selecting participants from whom the data was collected using a 5-point Likert scale questionnaire adapted from past studies and modified to suit the current investigation’s aims. Descriptive statistics were used to analyse demographic data while inferential statistics, including linear regression analysis and correlation analysis to determine and test the nature of relationships between independent and dependent variables. The findings demonstrated that transformational leadership significantly influences organizational efficiency, a determination which aligns with previous studies. Besides, it was found that TL further significantly influences employee performance in the UAE’s engineering and construction sector. Based on the findings, it was recommended that leaders should set clear and challenging goals, create a supportive and collaborative work environment, and provide opportunities for employee development and growth. Besides, they should foster an environment of innovation and creativity and ensure that communication and feedback channels are open and effective. Hence, organizations can nurture a culture that supports transformational leadership to foster creativity and innovation, critical in strengthening internal competitiveness

Although this phenomenon is gradual, if it is not evaluated and fixed in a timely manner, it will have a severe impact on the structure and, in some historical occasions, may result in collapse. Deterioration has a variety of causes and mechanisms. Some are regarded as external, such as the environment, which is critical in areas with tough climate conditions, as the Arab Gulf, where temperatures and humidity are high, another factor is the low quality of the materials and poor craftsmanship. Depending on the type of materials used in the structure and the environment in which it is created, several precaution approaches for structural degradation may be adapted.
Sulphate attack is one of the most widespread deteriorating mechanisms; this type of chemical damage can result in cracks, spalling, and disintegration of the structure, diminishing its strength. This paper presents a thorough investigation of this degrading agent, including its causes, effects, international code provisions, as well as recent studies on the subject with a focus on the Arab Gulf Countries.
The outcomes of this study demonstrated that this phenomenon, with its various mechanisms, has a negative impact on structures. Despite the distribution of sulphates in the Gulf, the existence of chloride and the precautionary measures taken successfully limited their impact on structures
Investigating the Effectiveness of Using Blended Learning on Grade Ten (16-year-old) ESL Learners' Lexical Range and Accuracy
The digital age has revolutionised the landscape of education, prompting a shift from traditional teaching methods to innovative approaches. This dissertation delves into the transformative potential of blended learning, focusing on its impact on the vocabulary range and accuracy of grade 10 students. The central objective of this study was to meticulously explore how blended learning influences students' vocabulary skills and their perceptions towards this blended educational model. Employing a comprehensive mixed-methods approach, this research integrated quantitative and qualitative data collection methods. Two sets of pre- and post-tests were administered, allowing for a quantitative assessment of the students' vocabulary acquisition. Furthermore, qualitative insights were gathered through in-depth interviews, providing a nuanced understanding of the students' attitudes and experiences with blended learning. The outcomes of this study revealed compelling evidence in favour of blended learning. The students engaged in blended learning activities exhibited a substantial improvement in their vocabulary range and accuracy compared to their counterparts exposed to traditional teaching methods. Moreover, the qualitative findings illuminated the positive attitudes students held towards blended learning, emphasising its interactive and engaging nature. This research has significant implications for both educators and curriculum designers. For educators, the study serves as a valuable guidepost, showcasing the effectiveness of blended learning in enhancing students' vocabulary skills. By integrating blended learning strategies, educators can create dynamic learning environments that cater to diverse learning styles, fostering improved vocabulary acquisition among students. Curriculum designers can draw upon these findings to develop innovative and adaptive curricula, aligning educational objectives with the interactive potential of blended learning. In essence, this dissertation not only contributes empirical evidence to the discourse on blended learning, but also underscores its potential as a catalyst for educational advancement. By embracing the insights presented in this study, educators and curriculum designers are empowered to reshape the educational landscape, ensuring a more engaging and effective learning experience for students
Critical Thinking Skills Profile of High School Students in AP Chemistry Learning

Critical thinking skills are a vital pillar skill to tackle the challenges of the twenty-first century.
Critical thinking is defined as a set of fundamental skills that must be mastered before one may progress to more complicated thinking. Aiming to obtain more insight into the aspects of critical thinking, the present study particularly examines quantitively the critical thinking skills level of grade 12 students in a scientific learning context. Over a 35-min test, based on Danczak DOT criteria, data was collected and analyzed. The study’s findings revealed that the students’ critical thinking abilities are in medium range. However, other implications regarding curriculum modifications, educational teaching strategies and teachers’ readiness are needed to foster students’ critical thinking skills
Investigating the effectiveness of using tablets to teach dyslexic students: a case study of a government school in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE.
This report indicates the effectiveness of using tablets in teaching children with learning difficulties, dyslexia, in a government school in the United Arab Emirates. The objectives of conducting this research are: 1) to develop a better comprehension of dyslexic children's circumstances to design helpful teaching methods and improve the learning progress, 2) to specify the capacity to which tablets could reinforce improving teaching strategies or teachers' performance in instructing dyslexic students, and 3) to suggest tablets' applications or features that can be applied as practical education strategies that facilitate learning. The investigation focused on one question: "How can tablets influence the development of dyslexic students' performance in learning languages, Arabic and English?". The report was supported with various educational articles and resources to launch an overview of better teaching dyslexic children using tablets. It discussed significant elements: the introduction, including policy considerations of inclusive education, the literature review, methodology, the findings, and the discussion of the data collected with the recommendations for future research. In the United Arab Emirates, the government supports equal rights for all people and provides exceptional educational services and inclusion in government schools. They motivate people with learning difficulties to collaborate and contribute to the community by improving their exceptional abilities and skills that could be used in their future growth
