    La place et les modalités de l’oxygénothérapie au cours de l’insuffisance respiratoire aiguë (IRA) hypoxémique nécessitent d’être clarifiées, justifiant l’organisation d’une conférence de consensus par la Société de réanimation de langue française (SRLF) et la Société française de médecine d’urgence (SFMU), excluant du cadre de la conférence l’œdème pulmonaire aigu et l’exacerbation aiguë hypercapnique de bronchopneumopathie chronique obstructive. Le jury a retenu l’indication d’une oxygénothérapie en présence d’IRA hypoxémique, avec une cible de SpO2 entre 94 et 98 % en l’absence de facteur de risque d’hypercapnie oxo-induite, et entre 88 et 92 % en présence de tels facteurs. Les gaz artériels ne doivent pas être systématiques, et l’analyse des gaz veineux est suggérée pour exclure une hypercapnie. En cas de défaut de la SpO2, lorsque la PvCO2 est élevée, en présence d’hémoglobinopathie, de suspicion de méthémoglobine ou d’intoxication au monoxyde d’azote, ou lorsqu’il coexiste une indication non-respiratoire, la gazométrie artérielle doit être réalisée. Les critères d’oxygénothérapie à haut débit nasal (OHDN) et d’intubation ont été précisés. L’OHDN est préférée à la ventilation non-invasive (VNI) en cas d’IRA de novo. Le décubitus ventral conscient est proposé aux patients atteints de pneumonie à Covid-19 nécessitant un recours à l’OHDN. La kinésithérapie est indiquée pour améliorer le recrutement alvéolaire pour les patients stables et nécessitant une admission en soins intensifs. Les patients recevant une oxygénothérapie conventionnelle et montrant des signes de détresse, ou bénéficiant d’une oxygénothérapie par PPC, OHDN ou VNI, doivent être pris en charge en unité de soins intensifs.The role and modalities of oxygen therapy in hypoxemic acute respiratory failure (ARF) need to be clarified, justifying the organization of a consensus conference by the Société de réanimation de langue française (SRLF) and the Société française de médecine d’urgence (SFMU), excluding from the scope of the conference acute pulmonary oedema and acute hypercapnic exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The jury retained the indication of oxygen therapy in the presence of hypoxemic ARF, with a SpO2 target of between 94 and 98% in the absence of risk factors for oxo-induced hypercapnia, and between 88 and 92% in the presence of such factors. Arterial blood gases should not be taken systematically, and venous blood gas analysis is suggested to exclude hypercapnia. When SpO2 is defective, when PvCO2 is elevated, in the presence of hemoglobinopathy, suspected methaemoglobin or nitric oxide intoxication, or when there is a co-existing non-respiratory indication, arterial blood gas should be performed. Criteria for high-flow nasal oxygen therapy (HFNO) and intubation have been clarified. HFNO is preferred to non-invasive ventilation (NIV) for de novo ARF. Conscious prone positioning is proposed for patients with COVID-19 pneumonia requiring HFNO. Physiotherapy is indicated to improve alveolar recruitment for stable patients requiring Intensive Care Unit (ICU) admission. Patients receiving conventional oxygen therapy and showing signs of distress, or receiving oxygen therapy with CPAP, HFNO or NIV, should be managed in an ICU. © 2025 Lavoisier. All rights reserved

    Identification of a set of SNPs markers for parentage analysis of the mediterranean red coral (Corallium rubrum)

    A set of single nucleotide polymorphism (SNPs) markers was developed from the transcriptome of ten individuals of the Mediterranean red coral (Corallium rubrum). Seven hundred sixty-five putative SNPs, suitable as genetic markers, were identified, and a subset of 320 SNPs was tested using a MassARRAY System on 71 samples. A total of 179 SNPs were successfully genotyped, and 123 of them were polymorphic, with unambiguous signals, and in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium, showing a significant Linkage Disequilibrium in 20 pairs of SNPs. The newly developed markers will be a useful tool for population genetics and parentage studies of this valuable octocoral

    The blood vessel network is heavily impacted by SARS-CoV-2 infection. How SARS-CoV-2 contributes to vascular inflammation and whether epithelio-endothelial cross-talk is involved remain unclear. We investigated in detail the interaction between SARS-CoV-2 and the vasculature using 2D and 3D vesseloid in vitro models. We first assessed whether SARS-CoV-2 is able to directly infect endothelial cells. In the absence of ACE2 in endothelial cells, no productive infection was detected. Low uptake of viral particles by ACE2-overexpressing endothelial cells was observed without efficient viral production. Thus, the indirect effect of SARS-CoV-2 infection may involve epithelio-endothelial cell cross-talk. After infection of the epithelial cells, a significant inflammatory response was detected in the endothelial cells. CXCL10 was the most highly expressed proinflammatory cytokine involved in this intercellular communication, and its function was subsequently explored. Finally, the clinical relevance of our findings was confirmed in two patient cohorts

    Ce document décrit en détail (plans, câblages...), les différentes actions à réaliser dans le but de construire les stations instrumentées IoT pour les mesures de météorologie, de suivi du sol et de niveau d'eau dans le cadre du projet ECOLOGGING.Nous mettons aussi à votre disposition les différents liens pour récupérer les programmes et les bibliothèques.Pour la partie relative à la transmission 4G sécurisée, il est recommandé de vous faire accompagner par un informaticien.En revanche, pour d'autres types de transmission, comme par exemple le LoRaWAN, du LoRa point to point ou la 4G non sécurisée, des tutoriels sont disponibles..Il est même possible d'utiliser ces stations instrumentées sans transmissions de données.Version 1 : le 01 09 2025An ecosystem research, meteorological data, soil monitoring, and water level measurements play a key role, as they help us understand the interactions between climate and forest ecosystems.At the Pierroton Experimental Forest Unit (UEFP0570), we used to rely on "Prométhée" stations to measure environmental parameters. However, these stations had the drawback of becoming unusable once their sensors or data transmission systems wore out.To address this issue, we developed our own climate stations. Named ECOLOGGING, these stations are scalable, modular, and portable, offering a good cost-to-data quality ratio. They are also energy-autonomous, equipped with on-site data backup, and feature secure 4G data transmission, which we retrieve remotely using the NODE-RED software via an MQTTs broker.Several ECOLOGGING stations are currently deployed: one at the CADOUIN site in DORDOGNE, one in THEIX in AUVERGNE, one in KOUROU in FRENCH GUIANA, one inGIEN near ORLÉANS, one in a forest in the LANDES region, one in the FONTBLANCHE forest near AUBAGNE, and another at the CESTAS PIERROTON site to evaluate sensor lifespan over time.This project has been funded by the INRAe-ECODIV department and the AnaEE Research Infrastructure

    Integrating NMR and MS for Improved Metabolomic Analysis: From Methodologies to Applications

    Metabolomics, the comprehensive analysis of low-molecular-weight metabolites (typically below 1500 DA) in biological systems, relies heavily on mass spectrometry (MS) and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. Each technique has inherent strengths and weaknesses. MS offers high sensitivity and is commonly coupled with chromatography to analyze complex matrices, yet it is destructive, has limited reproducibility, and provides limited structural information. NMR, while less sensitive, is non-destructive and enables structural elucidation and precise quantification. Recent studies increasingly employ data fusion (DF) strategies to combine the complementary information from NMR and MS, aiming to enhance metabolomic analyses. This review summarizes DF methodologies using NMR and MS data in metabolomics studies over the past decade. A comprehensive search of SciFinder, Scopus, and Clarivate Web of Science databases was conducted to analyze fusion techniques, methods, and statistical models.     Annotation of scientific literature to contextualize plant metabolism data

    L’annotation de la littérature scientifique sur les matrices végétales représente un défi majeur pour la contextualisation des données en métabolomique. À ce jour, il n’existe pas de système d’indexation standardisé pour les espèces végétales, contrairement au domaine médical. Des initiatives comme Planteome, qui développe des ontologies spécialisées pour les plantes, demeurent donc largement sous-exploitées.Face à ce constat, le projet "FORVM Plants" propose de recourir à des modèles de langage (LLM) afin d’établir des associations entre composés chimiques et concepts ontologiques. Cette approche vise à améliorer l’interprétation des données expérimentales issues de matrices végétales en métabolomique. Pour surmonter le manque d’annotation, une méthode d’annotation automatique de la littérature scientifique par des termes ontologiques, basée sur la similarité sémantique des LLM, est proposée. Ces modèles sont capables de saisir le sens des mots et des phrases au-delà de leur simple forme lexicale.Cette stratégie s’appuie également sur la méthodologie développée dans le projet FORVM Disease, qui permet d’établir des associations statistiquement significatives entre composés chimiques et concepts de l’ontologie MeSH (Medical Subject Headings). L’intégration de ces approches ouvre de nouvelles perspectives pour la contextualisation des données expérimentales, notamment sur les plateformes de métabolomique.Les premiers résultats, obtenus grâce à la plateforme Big Data Metabolomics Semantic Data Lake, ont permis de générer des annotations et des associations pertinentes pour l’identification de biomarqueurs. Actuellement, ces connaissances sont en cours de validation dans trois domaines d’application : la réponse des Brassicacées au stress hydrique et osmotique, la caractérisation des variétés de cannabis riches en THC et en CBD, ainsi que l’étude du métabolisme redox des tomates. Cette stratégie innovante offre ainsi un cadre prometteur pour l’exploitation des ontologies végétales et l’extraction de connaissances à grande échelle dans le domaine de la métabolomique.The annotation of scientific literature on plant matrices represents a major challenge for the contextualization of data in metabolomics. Unlike the medical field, there is currently no standardized indexing system for plant species. As a result, initiatives such as Planteome, which develops specialized ontologies for plants, remain largely underutilized.To address this gap, the "FORVM Plants" project proposes the use of language models (LLMs) to establish associations between chemical compounds and ontological concepts. This approach aims to improve the interpretation of experimental data derived from plant matrices in metabolomics. To overcome the lack of annotation, an automatic annotation method based on the semantic similarity capabilities of LLMs is proposed, enabling the assignment of ontological terms to scientific literature. These models can capture the meaning of words and phrases beyond their lexical form.This strategy also builds upon the methodology developed in the FORVM Disease project, which establishes statistically significant associations between chemical compounds and concepts from the MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) ontology. Integrating these approaches opens new perspectives for the contextualization of experimental data, particularly within metabolomics platforms.Preliminary results, obtained using the Big Data Metabolomics Semantic Data Lake platform, have enabled the generation of relevant annotations and associations for biomarker identification. Currently, this knowledge is being validated in three application areas: the response of Brassicaceae to water and osmotic stress, the characterization of cannabis varieties rich in THC and CBD, and the study of redox metabolism in tomatoes. This innovative strategy thus offers a promising framework for leveraging plant ontologies and extracting large-scale knowledge in the field of metabolomics

    BACKGROUND: Tuberculosis (TB) remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality for children living with HIV (CLHIV), with gaps in TB screening, diagnostics, management, and TB preventive therapy (TPT). We investigated reported practices in these domains at sites caring for CLHIV in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) within the International epidemiology Databases to Evaluate AIDS (IeDEA) consortium. METHODS: We implemented a site survey during September 2020-February 2021, querying pre-pandemic practices. This analysis included sites in LMICs providing care for CLHIV that diagnosed TB in 2019. We analyzed responses using descriptive statistics and assessed regional differences using Fisher's exact or chi-square tests. RESULTS: Of 238 IeDEA sites, 227 (95%) responded and 135 met inclusion criteria. Most (90%) reported screening for TB at HIV care enrollment. Access to diagnostics varied significantly by region, including for nucleic acid amplification testing (NAAT, range 67-100%), mycobacterial culture (range 43-83%), and drug susceptibility testing (range 30-82%) (p<0.001). On-site TB treatment was high (90%). Reported stock-outs occurred for isoniazid (23/116, 20%) and other TB medications (11/114, 9.6%, range 0-33%, p=0.008). TPT provision ranged 50-100% (p<0.001). Six months of isoniazid was the most common TPT regimen for children (88%). Shorter TPT regimens were uncommon (0.9-2.8%), as were regimens for multidrug-resistant TB exposure (4.6%). CONCLUSIONS: Overall reported availability of NAAT and integrated TB/HIV treatment for CLHIV cared for at these IeDEA sites in LMICs is encouraging but varies by context. Heterogeneous implementation gaps remain-particularly for drug susceptibility testing, TPT delivery and TPT regimens-which successful outcomes for CLHIV, warranting continued close attention over time and as global TB care guidelines and services evolve

    The role of lifestyle and health-related factors in dementia risk has been established. However, how a combination of modifiable risk factors, as reflected by the LIBRA (LIfestyle for BRAin health) index, contributes to cognitive resilience to genetic susceptibility to dementia (CRgen) remains unclear. We selected 6,774 Three-City study participants without dementia at baseline (mean age=74 years) and with ≥2 cognitive measures over time. Genetic risk was defined through ApoE-ε4 carriage alone (ε4-carriers) or combined with high AD-specific genetic risk scores beyond ApoE (ε4-carriers/GRS-high). To define CRgen, we modeled and compared the cognitive slopes of at-risk individuals to their demographically similar peers without genetic risk; at-risk individuals with the most preserved cognition were defined as resilient (ε4-carriers [n=237]; ε4-carrier/GRS-high [n=319]), and the least preserved as non-resilient (ε4-carriers [n=866]; ε4-carrier/GRS-high [n=1,249]). Lower LIBRA risk scores at baseline, denoting healthier lifestyle and reduced dementia risk, were linearly associated with greater odds of CRgen, both in ε4-carriers (odds ratio [OR]=1.11;95%CI=1.05-1.18) and ε4-carriers/GRS-high (OR=1.16;95%CI=1.11-1.22). When examining the LIBRA components, cognitive activity and coronary heart diseases history showed the strongest independent associations with CRgen (all P≤.01). Genetically susceptible older adults can develop cognitive resilience, which may be promoted by lifestyle modifications and health management simultaneously

    EMERGREEN: A greenhouse platform for studying emerging plant diseases

    The EMERGREEN platform (EMERging plants pathogens in GREENhouses and labs) is dedicated to stud-ies on emerging plant diseases characterized by complex interactions between a host plant, a quaran-tine organism (OQ) or a regulated pathogen, its potential vectors, and the environment. It has been designed to meet the needs of basic and applied research in agriculture and forestry, two economic sectors heavily affected by emerging diseases, and the needs of the national, international academic scientific community and industrial stakeholders. Manipulating pathogens listed as QO requires author-ization from government services. EMERGREEN’s experience in applying for accreditation and monitor-ing compliance with the handling of quarantine organisms enables us to meet the needs of the scien-tific community for QO manipulation and preparation of accreditation dossiers. EMERGREEN offers support services for project management, provision of scientific equipment in confined facilities, and support for experimentation such as phenotyping of pathogen-plant host-vector interactions. The EMERGREEN platform comprises three modules, organized to meet biosafety requirements. Currently, EMERGREEN hosts: a 180 m² biosafety level 2 module for acquisition/transmission studies by experi-mental insect vectors of Flavescence dorée phytoplasma (FDp); a 265 m² biosafety level 3 module for the study of plant virus etiology and the transmission/acquisition of FDp with the natural vector; and a 420 m² biosafety level 2 module for pine diseases. Funding has been obtained for the construction of biosafety level 2 and 3.EMERGREEN (https://ror.org/020dmyn61), through its agents' involvement, is represented in numerous scientific and technological networks, which serve as strong means of access to technological innova-tions and enhance the platform's scope of expertise. These skills and know-how, as well as the privi-leged link with users, are sources of continuous improvement of research equipment. The platform is positioned within strategic frameworks such as INRAE 2030, contributing to scientific advancements and addressing key challenges in the field
