dass auch die in der Palliativversorgung Tätigen ein Grundverständnis von
Tumorbiologie, von modernen onkologischen Therapiekonzepten und von supportivtherapeutischen
Möglichkeiten haben. Dieses Buch möchte dieses Grundverständnis
von Krebs und onkologischer Behandlung in einer auch für Nicht-Onkologen verständlichen Form vermitteln und richtet sich vor allem an jene, die
in der palliativmedizinischen Betreuung krebskranker Menschen involviert sind:
Palliativärzte, Palliativpflegende, aber auch Haus- und Fachärzte, Physiotherapeuten,
Seelsorger, Psychotherapeuten und viele mehr. Es will kein Lehrbuch der
Onkologie ersetzen, sondern eine praxisorientierte, therapie- und versorgungsrelevante
Hilfestellung im (palliativ-)medizinischen Arbeitsalltag sein – dort, wo
es um eine umfassende Unterstützung von Krebspatienten geht.

Cone-beam x-ray phase-contrast tomography for the observation of single cells in whole organs
No full textSoftcover, 17x24X-ray imaging enables the nondestructive investigation of interior structures in otherwise opaque samples. In particular the use of computed tomography (CT) allows for arbitrary virtual slices through the object and 3D information about intricate structures can be obtained. However, when it comes to image very small structures like single cells, the classical CT approach is limited by the weak absorption of soft-tissue. The use of phase information, encoded in measureable intensity images by free-space propagation of coherent x-rays, allows a huge increase in contrast, which enables 3D reconstructions at higher resolutions. In this work the application of propagation-based phase-contrast tomography to lung tissue samples is demonstrated in close to in vivo conditions. Reconstructions of the lung structure of whole mice at down to 5 μm resolution are obtained at a selfbuilt CT setup, which is based on a liquid-metal jet x-ray source. To reach even higher resolutions, synchrotron radiation in combination with suitable holographic phase-retrieval algorithms is employed. Due to optimized cone-beam geometry, field of view and resolution can be varied over a wide range of parameters, so that information on different length scales can be achieved, covering several millimeters field of view down to a 3D resolution of 50 nm. Thus, the sub-cellular 3D imaging of single cells embedded in large pieces of tissue is enabled, which paves the way for future biomedical research

reputation, Anika Droste looks at the practices and representations of violence in Elizabethan and
Jacobean England, noting how various Shakespearean plays depict an unstable society by picking
up public concerns common to the time. In similar ways, von Blanckenburg’s and Glowsky’s
contributions look at nineteenth-century literature, while Schlink and Helm consider various cultural
theories in a very modern context. Together, these papers present change from diverse perspectives,
political as well as cultural, textual as well as theoretical, and provide the reader with a new insight
into literary concepts and ideas throughout the centuries

Der seit Mitte der 1990er Jahre zu verzeichnende Rückgang der Tarifbindung, der steigende Wettbewerbsdruck sowie die Wirtschaftskrise im Jahre 2008 stellen nunmehr das bislang sehr erfolgreiche Tarifsystem und seine Protagonisten vor neue Herausforderungen. Im Zentrum der Untersuchung steht die Frage der Verfassungsmäßigkeit von sehr kurzfristigen Beendigungsmöglichkeiten der tarifgebundenen Mitgliedschaft in Arbeitgeberverbänden. Wie muss ein Tarifsystem ausgestaltet sein, um einerseits die Bedürfnisse der in Verbänden organisierten Arbeitgeber hinreichend zu achten und andererseits die strukturelle Ungleichheit im Verhältnis zwischen Arbeitnehmer und Arbeitgeber durch die Gewerkschaften als Arbeitnehmervertretung zu berücksichtigen
Interdisciplinary Analysis and Modeling of Carbon-Optimized Land Management Strategies for Southern Amazonia

Based on detailed storylines, the project aims at identifying possible entry-points for a necessary change in local and regional production patterns, considering local livelihoods as well as the present national and global economic, legal and political situation. This book gives an overview of the first results of the multi-disciplinary Carbiocial Project by publishing the main presentations, held on the Carbiocial Status Conference, on October 7-8, 2013, in Cuiabá.
