Multiscale X-ray Structural Analysis of Cardiac Cells and Tissues
No full textSoftcover, 17x24The cardiac function relies on an intricate molecular and cellular three-dimensional (3d) architecture of a complex, dense and co-dependent cellular network. Structural alterations of the cardiac structure can affect its essential function and lead to severe dysfunction of the organ. Cardiovascular diseases are the main cause of death worldwide with a rising incidence.
However, it is not possible to give a generalized answer how the heart is formed. Up to now, cardiac structure as well as physiologic and disease-related tissue alterations of the tissue are mainly investigated by established 2d imaging methods such as optical microscopy or electron microscopy.
This work presents a multiscale and multimodal X-ray imaging approach, which allows to probe the heart structure from the scale of entire intact murine hearts to the molecular organisation of the sarcomer structure.
While the molecular structure of the actomyosin complex is probed by scanning X-ray diffraction,
the 3d arrangement of the cellular network is investigated by propagation-based X-ray phase-contrast tomography. In this context, the concept of 3d virtual histology of cardiac tissue by X-ray phase-contrast tomography using laboratory sources as well as highly coherent synchrotron radiation is being further developed

Der vorliegende Text bestreitet zwar nicht, dass die Religion in den Gesellschaften Nordafrikas und des Nahen Ostens immer noch eine wichtige Rolle in vielen Lebensbereichen spielt, er argumentiert aber auch, dass die Religion in der Analyse dieser Gesellschaften immer wieder überbetont wird und übersehen wird, dass die Gesellschaften dieses Raums auch ganz anders gelesen werden können. In vielen Gesellschaften der Region hat die Religion in der Tat in den letzten Jahrzehnten (je nach Region und Milieu) zum Teil stark an gesellschaftlichem (wenn auch nicht immer an politischem) Einfluss verloren und beträchtliche Bevölkerungsgruppen verstehen sich heute als religionsmüde, als indifferent, was das Religiöse angeht, oder sogar als religionslos. Der vorliegende Text beschäftigt sich daher insbesondere mit neueren Entwicklungen in der Region, in welchen sich der Bedeutungsverlust des Religiösen in bestimmten Lebensbereichen deutlich manifestiert
Normative Vorstellungen von Schulklassen
No full textObschon der Schulklasse für die schulische Organisation von Unterricht eine hohe Relevanz zukommt, wird sie in der empirischen Schulforschung überwiegend als Explanans thematisiert. Die Sozialität der Schulklasse wurde als empirischer Forschungsgegenstand dagegen bislang kaum fokussiert. Ziel der vorliegenden Arbeit ist es, sich diesem Desiderat anzunehmen, indem die Schulklasse als ein Gegenstand betrachtet wird, der sich in unterschiedlichen Diskursen auf vielfältige Weise konstituiert. Dabei wird auch danach gefragt, wie Klassenlehrkräfte die Schulklasse im alltagsbasierten Diskurs konstruieren und sich selbst zu ihr ins Verhältnis setzen. Untersucht wird anhand verschiedener Datensorten, wie welche normativen Vorstellungen von Schulklassen im erziehungswissenschaftlichen, programmatischen und alltagsbasierten Diskurs hervorgebracht werden. Als Datenmaterial dienen Beiträge in wissenschaftlicher und gegenwärtiger praxisinstruktiver Literatur sowie eigens erhobene Interviews mit Klassenlehrkräften an weiterführenden Schulen. Die Interviews sind ebenso wie die Idee für diese Studie im Rahmen des Projekts zu Herstellung von Schulklassen am Arbeitsbereich Empirische Unterrichtsforschung und Schulentwicklung am Institut für Erziehungswissenschaft der Universität Göttingen entstanden.Although the school class is highly relevant for the school organization of instruction, it is predominantly addressed in empirical school research as an explanandum. The sociality of the school class, on the other hand, has hardly been focused on as an empirical object of research. The aim of this paper is to address this desideratum by considering the school class as an object that is constituted in a variety of ways in different discourses. It also asks how classroom teachers construct the school class in everyday-based discourse and relate themselves to it. Different types of data are used to examine how which normative conceptions of school classes are produced in educational, programmatic, and everyday-based discourse. Contributions in scholarly and contemporary practice-instructional literature, as well as specially collected interviews with classroom teachers in secondary schools, serve as data materials. The interviews, as well as the idea for this study, were developed within the framework of the project on making school classes at the Department of Empirical Research on Teaching and School Development at the Institute of Educational Science at the University of Göttingen.

No full textHardcover, 17x24Das Untergeschoss der Westfassade der Kathedrale San Rufino in Assisi entstand im Rahmen eines 1140 begonnenen und nach ca. 100 Jahren vollendeten Neubaus. Mit seiner umfangreichen Ausstattung ist es Ausdruck des Selbstbewusstseins seiner alleinigen Auftraggeber, der Kathedralkanoniker.
Die vorliegende Abhandlung widmet sich zum einen der differenzierten Flächengliederung durch ein geschossumfassendes Rahmenwerk mit einem aufliegenden Blendbogenfries wie der diesbezüglichen Ableitungsdebatte. Besondere Berücksichtigung erfährt dabei die portalbegleitende Reliefrahmung an der Fassade von San Pietro fuori le mura in Spoleto, auch im Vergleich mit verschiedenen Typen von Reliefeinfassungen an diversen Sakralbauten des südwestlichen Mittelmeerraumes. Zum anderen steht das weitgefächerte bauskulpturale Repertoire des Untergeschosses der assisanischen Fassade im Fokus dieser Untersuchung. Der Motivik der Darstellungen, ihrer Herkunft und Verbreitung, die in der bisherigen Forschung nur rudimentär bearbeitet worden ist, gilt in diesem Zusammenhang besondere Beachtung.The basement of the façade of the San Rufino at Assisi is part of the newly erected Cathedral, which can be dated between 1140 and about 1240. Its extensive décor shows the self-confidence of its sole initiators, the Canons of the Cathedral.
On the one hand the present treatise is addressed at the differentiated planar structuring on behalf of a large-scaled framing with a salient arched corbel course and the debate of its derivation. Thereby the framing of the reliefs next to the main portal on the façade of San Pietro fuori le mura at Spoleto receives specific consideration, also in comparison with the different types of relief-framing of several churches in the southwestern Mediterranean area. On the other hand the diversified decorative repertoire of the façade-basement at Assisi is brought into focus in this treatise. In this context special attention is paid to the so far rudimentarily investigated motives of the presentations, their origin and distribution. La presente dissertazione si occupa in primo luogo della strutturazione della facciata inferiore, caratterizzata da una trama di sottocampi lisci di cortina muraria, realizzata mediante cornici modanate, e da un fregio ad archi ciechi sovrastante. L’indagine discute inoltre le ipotesi sulla possibile derivazione di questo elemento architettonico. In questo contesto, viene preso in considerazione il confronto con la disposizione dei rilievi che accompagnano il portale principale della facciata di San Pietro fuori le mura a Spoleto, comparandola anche con altri complessi di rilievi a lato di portali osservabili in diverse chiese dell’area sudoccidentale del Mediterraneo. Inoltre, al centro di questa dissertazione è posto l’ampio repertorio decorativo scultoreo della parte inferiore della facciata assisana. I motivi delle rappresentazioni, la loro origine e la loro distribuzione, che finora sono stati studiati solo in maniera approssimativa, sono qui analizzati con particolare attenzione.

No full textSoftcover, 17x24Die Dissertation untersucht die geheimdienstliche Überwachung privater Telekommunikation und ihre Vereinbarkeit mit dem internationalen Menschenrecht auf Privatsphäre in Art. 17 ICCPR und in Art. 8 EMRK. Diese Artikel bieten einen umfassenden Schutz gegen die modernsten Formen der Überwachung, einschließlich der Massenüberwachung. Es gelten konkrete Kriterien für die Bestimmtheit der Überwachungsgesetze. Die Überwachung muss zudem durch unabhängige Behörden genehmigt sowie kontrolliert werden und effektive Rechtsmittel müssen zur Verfügung stehen. Darüber hinaus wird in der Studie untersucht, inwieweit der überwachende Staat und der Aufenthaltsstaat bei grenzüberschreitender Überwachung ihre menschenrechtlichen Verpflichtungen verletzen. Die zentrale Frage ist, ob die bisherigen Definitionen der "jurisdiction" auf dieses extraterritoriale Szenario anwendbar sind. Die extraterritoriale Ausübung der Jurisdiktion kann sich auch auf die Kontrolle über bestimmte menschenrechtlich relevante Objekte stützen. Diesem Ansatz zufolge sind Telekommunikationsdaten Objekte, die für das Recht des Einzelnen auf Korrespondenz und Datenschutz relevant sind.This dissertation examines intelligence surveillance of private telecommunications and its compatibility with the international human right to privacy in Art. 17 ICCPR and in Art. 8 ECHR. These articles provide comprehensive protection against the most modern forms of surveillance including bulk interception. Several criteria apply in terms of the foreseeability of the surveillance laws. Telecommunication’s interception should be subject to authorisation and supervision by independent authorities and effective remedies should be available. Moreover, the study analyzes the extent to which the surveilling state and the state of residence violate their human rights obligations in cases of cross-border surveillance. The main question is whether the established definitions of "jurisdiction" are applicable to this extraterritorial scenario. The extraterritorial exercise of jurisdiction can also be based on effective control over specific objects relevant to human rights. According to this approach, telecommunications data are objects relevant to individual’s right to correspondence and data protection
