Transkrypcja czy transliteracja tekstów muzułmanów litewsko-polskich pisanych alfabetem arabskim? (Wprowadzenie do dyskusji)
If Kitab studies are to become an independent sub-discipline of language study, they should develop their own research methods. One of the basic conditions for the development of integrated research into Kitab studies is to work out a universal transliteration and transcription system that would be accepted and used by all (or by the majority of) researchers converting Tartar texts written in the Arabic alphabet into Latin and Cyrillic alphabets. Given the fact that such a system cannot be developed by one researcher alone, the article postulates that an international team of researchers and experts be formed to work out a universal system of transcription and transliteration of the manuscripts of Muslims in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. In order to justify this idea, the author provides examples of the misinterpretation of language facts arising from adopting a subjective, individual, and accidental alphabet conversion system
The Formation of the Future Tense in Slavonic Languages
The article considers the formation of the future tense in all groups of Slavonic languages. In Common Slavonic there were only some traces of the Proto I.E. s-future tense and the new future tenses appeared later in separate groups of Slavonic languages after disintegration of their common ancestor. Their formation had different peculiarities. In East and West Slavonic languages the formation of future tenses was an internal Slavonic process, whereas South Slavonic languages were influenced by some common developments inside of Balkan’s languages. It may be assumed that the innovation center was the Greek language. The article provides some insights into the development of various future forms in Slavonic languages
Anioł w dawnych i współczesnych przekładach biblijnych i koranicznych
The purpose of this article is to investigate the etymology of the word angel in Polish biblical and Koranic translations as well as the ways of its translation from Hebrew, Greek and Arabic into religious texts. The author examines whether the phraseological connections of the word angel (which is used by Lithuanian and Polish Tartars and in the Polish translations of the Koran) are specific for this genre of literature in the production of the Koranic phraseology. To establish the range and nature of the connections between the biblical and Koranic translations, the author considers whether and to what extent they reflect biblical or Polish phraseology

Обучение иностранному языку и время
This article reflects upon the textbook, ‘Lithuaniain Language for All’ (1992–1993), written by V. Chekmonas and I. Chekmoniene, which is still up-to-date. The novelty of this textbook lies in its approach to the teaching of the Lithuanian language as a speech activity rather than a system. The present task is to develop multilingual competence in a multicultural context. The Common European framework of reference for language learning, teaching and assessment represents the latest stage in a language teaching process. This document, as well as the European Language Portfolio, must be used in foreign-language teaching practices at the university level
Próba statystycznej analizy bałto-słowiańskich odpowiedników leksykalnych (na podstawie Słownika prasłowiańskiego)
The article presents the results of preliminary statistic and semantic analyses of the Slavonic and Baltic etymological equivalents according to the data of Słownik praslowiański. The analysis was based on one hundred and seven Baltic-Slavonic noun equivalents and the semantic classification of the collected material. Markowski’s system of ideographic distribution was used for this purpose. All material were divided into fifty thematic groups that consisted of six semantic spheres and two macro-spheres, such as ME (PERSON) and THE WORLD BEYOND ME.The analysis conducted allows the author to point out that a remarkable majority of Slavonic and Baltic etymological equivalents describe the external world, of either animate or inanimate nature (i. e. the macro-sphere THE WORLD BEYOND ME). Respectively, the semantic field THE WORLD turned out to be the most representative. In terms of the number of equivalents, the fields MY BODIES and the field IT THAT SERVES MY BODY occupy the next two positions. A significant number of equivalents characterize the thematic groups of agriculture and daily life. Contrary to the author’s expectations, the groups of family attitudes and emotions have appeared 10 have a similar number of equivalents, although in general the words referring to the spiritual and mental life of a person are not numerous
