This paper attempts to trace genesis of utopia as a form of thinking. Attempts are made to develop classification of generic hypothetic utopias by their possible types and explain differences between types as well as reasons for these differences. The place on the continuum of thought is offered for a contribution of political economy to utopian thought. Relations are being researched between technological development in history and utopias. Role and place of corporate and cooperative forms of ownership and governance of business entities in societal development and their relation to utopian thinking are discussed. Relations between modern theories of stakeholders and societies of real and utopian world, as well as between social progress and utopias are reviewed. Relations between democracy as a form of societal governance and utopian thinking are considered. Because the world becomes more and more interrelated in a process of globalization, the attention is paid to influence of globalization processes on a utopian form of thought. Suggestions implying the end of utopian form of thought are discussed as well

    Education, inequality and economic growth

Most of the theories in the field of economic growth and labor economics are in essence normative and they examine bilateral relationships between education and economic growth, or inequality and economic growth. Recently, new models have been developed that emphasize the multilateral relationship between inequality, education and economic growth, which exhibit positive aspects. In this paper we present two models corresponding to this typology. The first is related to diverse abilities and the second to unified theories. The importance of the typology presented in this paper is that it shows that analyzing a partial relationship can be misleading. The results that seem robust disappear when analyzed by means of a multilateral-relationship approach. The two multilateral-relationship models presented in this paper reveal that interaction between numerous variables can change the results obtained in a simple bilateral model, and that policy implications may be reversed

The European Committee consecrated the European companies, which are penetrated, in organized markets to enforce the International Accountings Standards (IAS) for the 2005’s use. The enforcement of IAS is very important because it will have positive results for the companies and the whole market. It will help in clear enforcement of rules’ use in domestic capital market. Generally we can tell that the enforcement of IAS creates a «logical picture» which is nearer to the fair value of a company. Apart from that IAS accommodates the international exchanges and creates the presupposition in order to be insensitive. As far as Greece is concerned, the advantages of the premature use, in comparison with the other European countries, are important. The enforcement of IAS for the penetrated companies has improved the general picture of Athens’ stock exchange and has also helped the attraction of foreign investments. After that it is possible that there will be development for the Greek companies. The companies’ staff of tomorrow needs to make worthy effectively the tool of IAS. In this case the perfect education in particular sensible item constitutes self-understood event. The enlarging economy needs «enlargement» staff, which apart from all will have delight in reasonable and useful of IAS

A servant or a master? The problem of mathematization in economics

The use of mathematical methods in Economics is nowadays under consideration. lt is our aim here to present succinctly the main methodological conditions of the use of mathematical methods, focusing on three critical moments in the historical eνolution of Economics. The process of mathematization of economic theories was explicitly rejected by the Classics because it demanded the radical reorganization of the subject field of Political Economy. Mathematical Economics were acknowledged thanks to Marshall after 1900, long after the Marginalist revolution. The establishment of the Arrow-Debreu General Equilibrium model , made clear that economic theories are no longer subject to empirical control, mainly because of the extremely restrictive assumptions concerning the function of complete markets
