Criteria of optimal portfolio selection: Evidence from private investors in Greece and Poland
In this paper, we investigate the investment portfolios determinants
using a sample of Greek and Polish private investors. The study is grounded in
the current and potential criteria and sub-criteria influencing investors in
selecting financial investment products. The methodology applied in order to
satisfy the research aims is the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). This is a
flexible and functional tool for investigating multi-criteria decision-making
problems that allows the determination, evaluation, and comparison of
major criteria by stakeholders. The results show that there are considerable
differences in the ranking and significance of factors that determine the
selection of financial investment products in these two countries. The
importance of those factors has implications for the decision-makers in the
banking sector
Cruise ship cost analysis: An AHP study on cost components
This paper aims to reveal the factors that influence the cost of cruise
ships of different size which offer different programs. The analytic hierarchy
process (AHP) is the methodology applied in order to evaluate and compare the
cost components. The factors which influence the cost levels after a
brainstorming to the cruise sector experts, are: 1) voyage cost; 2) cost of food
and beverage provision; 3) cost of supplies; 4) administration cost; 5) financial
cost; 6) technical upgrading and lay up cost. Each criterion in the AHP method
is shaped by the significance of its sub-criteria. Results of the study revealed
that technical upgrading and lay up cost is the major drive for the total cost for
the small cruise company (SCC), while financial cost is the most important cost
category for the large cruise company (LCC) and least importance for the small
cruise company (SCC)
Financial crisis and Greek banks' performance variation
This paper aims to reveal the reasons for the overall condition
fluctuation of the Greek commercial bank institutions listed in Athens Stock
Exchange, in the time just before and just after the financial crisis of 2008. We
have examined thirteen (13) commercial bank institutions using the CAMELS
rating and we have explored the findings of this analysis in the light of the
major financial deals among Greek banks during the years 2006–2012 in order
to reveal the true reasons that have affected their performance and their rating
during the period under study. During this time, the Greek banks faced
simultaneously problems such as the lack of liquidity, the capital inadequacy
and the continuous reduction of their profitability, and were motivated to be
engaged in business deals such as share capital increase, mergers and
acquisitions. Our analysis leads to the conclusion that the CAMELS rating
fluctuation of the banks’ performance is strongly related to business deals, such
as issuing long-term debt

"Technology" in relation to the married couples.

people staying with a spouse or with a companion.

"Local news", the "Weather" and "Economy". People who use the Internet more than 5 hours a day use to a greater extent the
Facebook as a source of information for the "Sport" and "Technology" in relation with the people involved in the Internet less than 1
hour per day. Respectively the people involved in the Internet 3-5 hours a day use Facebook to learn of the "Life Style" to a greater
extent with the people who spend less than 1 hour per day on the Internet.
Finally, people who use more than five hours daily the internet, consider Facebook to be the most important source of information in
relation to the people involved in the Internet less than 1 hour per day.
The limitations of the study concern the collection of data in a specific time period instead of a longer length of time, the sample of 314
users should be broaden to include users from different countries and various demographic categories. Despite the limitations, our
study provides a contribution to the efforts to explore new phenomena, whose long-term consequences cannot be foreseen today
