Fighting the financial crisis with alternative forms of energy in the household economics.
We analyze how to fight the financial crisis at the level of Household Economics, by adopting environmental friendly alternative forms of energy, that reduce the C02 emissions and the cost of living. The value of such green solutions is multiple: at the level of a better and healthier quality of life, at the level of planetary global climate crisis, and at the level of Household Economics. We utilize a specially coded simulator to represent the randomness of the input solar radiation variance both seasonally and as 11 years solar sunspot cycle, so as to calculate the financial risk of the household income. We propose a new Bank's financial product that links the solar energy income with the house mortgage payments. The solar energy alone as investment is approximately a 57% rate of return on equities or 20% internal rate of return. If it is linked with purchasing of the house, it can buy at least 30% of the house

Insolvency prediction: Evidence from greek hotels
This study examined insolvency predictions for the hotel sector in Greece. The objective was
to realise and estimate bankruptcy predictions for different hotel categories for 2005-2007, or
the three consecutive years following the 2004 Olympics in Athens and just before the
economic crisis that began in 2008 in Greece. The sample selected included 146 hotels and
438 financial statements from the 3 years studied. This paper aimed to determine the zone
of discrimination classified as “certainty” for bankruptcy, by using three random values of the
Z score to eliminate the number of firms that went bankrupt in three different zones.
The Altman model was used to predict bankruptcy and its accuracy assessed by
comparing its results to the number of hotel enterprises that actually filed for bankruptcy.
About 40% of all firms evaluated were deemed to be in the “distress zone” for bankruptcy,
having a Z score below 1.8.
The results of this study revealed that the number of firms with Z scores below 0.8
were certain to file for bankruptcy, with an accuracy rate of 83.3% for 2005 (15 out of 18
predicted firms), 3 years before bankruptcy; 100% for 2006 (15 out of 15 firms), 2 years prior
to bankruptcy; and 88.2% for 2007 (15 out of 17 predicted firms), 1 year before bankruptcy.
Bankruptcy risk was higher for 5- and 3-star hotels than for 4- and 2-star hotels.
This paper has implications for the ascertainment of insolvency among hotels from
different categories. It also fulfils the need to predict the certainty of bankruptcy among
enterprises within the distress zone

Entrepreneurship education and economic growth
The joint interest in disseminating an entrepreneurial mindset to the students even
before graduation has led to cooperation between VIA University College and the Central
Denmark Region to support entrepreneurship in the Professional Bachelor's degree
programmes at VIA University College. This paper addresses the presumptions behind the
project.
The presumptions in relation to entrepreneurship demonstrate that the effort should
target both growth entrepreneurs and SMEs in a wide sense; there is a need for growth
entrepreneurs with ambitions to generate breakthrough innovation as well as the many
others with more modest ambitions about incremental innovation.
In relation to education and training this concerns the combination of curricular and
non-curricular activities.Entrepreneurship teaching must be realised in close cooperation
with the degree programmes and should focus on both entrepreneurial skills and
competencies. The teaching should be experimental and incorporate entrepreneurial
practice.
These presumptions already form an integral part of existing activities such as the UCT
week and the new advanced studies programme in entrepreneurship. They will also be
embodied in the student entrepreneurship centres to be established at each of the seven
campuses, which is the project's main focus
