Catalogue of an exhibition held at Monash Gallery of Art, Wheelers Hill, Victoria, 7 April - 18 June 2006.Her recent work explores light and surface as traces of passage in the form of palimpsests, installation, photographic imagery, video and back lit digitally manipulated transparencies. Emblems of embodiment and desire are configured from images of objects and felt surfaces as sites of transition and dissolution. Aspects of memory, lived experience and fragmented narrative are conveyed through processes such as erasure, multiple layering of images and text, and a collage aesthetic which emphasises materiality, tactility, loss and retrieval.Essay by Sarah-Mace Dennis

Catalogue of an exhibition held at Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces, Studio 12, 3 February - 4 March 2006.A kind of offbeat, audiovisual family portrait, Ali Sandersons exhibition Spewtiful evokes humour, sentimentality, absurdity and melancholic reflecton - often simultaneously. A large video projection reveals a resplendently kitsch beach sunset, against which images of a young man and woman fade in and out, miming the lyrics to an old-time musical number. In fact, the young couple are Sanderson and her boyfriend Ben and the music is played and performed by Bens parents, who are former amateur theatre players.Essay by Veronica Tello
