The processing and production of L2 tense-aspect by Chinese and Arabic learners of English
In the current study, we investigated potential cross-linguistic influences on knowledge and real-time processing of English tense-aspect forms (past simple/past progressive/present perfect) in advanced Chinese and Arabic L2 learners. Real-time comprehension and production were measured using a visual-world eye-tracking paradigm and an elicited imitation task, while explicit knowledge was assessed through an acceptability judgment task. The Arabic learners showed an L1-based advantage in processing the past simple, whereas both L2 groups experienced difficulty with the present perfect, likely due to L1 influence. In contrast, both groups demonstrated native-like performance on present progressive items. The findings of the study align more closely with the Representational Deficit Hypothesis, suggesting persistent L1 influence in implicit knowledge, despite more native-like explicit knowledge as shown in the judgement task
Administração Eficiente de Projetos Viários por Meio da Gestão Estratégica Aplicada: Estudo de Caso no Azuay
El presente artículo analiza la administración eficiente de los proyectos viales ejecutados en la provincia del Azuay, Ecuador, mediante la aplicación de la gestión estratégica como herramienta para optimizar los procesos técnico-administrativos en el ámbito público. A través de un enfoque documental y comparativo, se examinan los principales fundamentos teóricos que sustentan la eficiencia en la gestión pública, los indicadores de desempeño técnico y los mecanismos de control institucional aplicables a las empresas públicas provinciales. El estudio toma como caso de referencia a la Empresa Pública de Áridos y Asfaltos del Azuay (ASFALTAR EP), responsable de la ejecución de obras viales entre 2021 y 2024. Se desarrollan categorías de análisis relacionadas con la planificación, ejecución y evaluación de proyectos, identificando la incidencia de la gestión estratégica sobre los resultados operativos, financieros y de calidad. El propósito del estudio es proponer una base metodológica que permita fortalecer la eficiencia técnico-administrativa en la gestión de proyectos viales, en concordancia con los lineamientos de sostenibilidad, transparencia y valor público promovidos por organismos nacionales e internacionales.This article analyzes the efficient management of road projects implemented in the province of Azuay, Ecuador, through the application of strategic management as a tool to optimize technical and administrative processes in the public sector. Using a documentary and comparative approach, the study examines the main theoretical foundations that support efficiency in public management, technical performance indicators, and institutional control mechanisms applicable to provincial public companies. The case study focuses on ASFALTAR EP, the Public Company of Aggregates and Asphalt of Azuay, which is responsible for the execution of road works in the province during the period 2021–2024. Analysis categories related to project planning, execution, and evaluation are developed, identifying the influence of strategic management on operational, financial, and quality results. The purpose of the study is to propose a methodological basis to strengthen technical-administrative efficiency in road project management, aligned with sustainability, transparency, and public value guidelines promoted by national and international institutions.O presente artigo analisa a administração eficiente dos projetos viários executados na província de Azuay, Equador, mediante a aplicação da gestão estratégica como ferramenta para otimizar os processos técnico-administrativos no âmbito público. Por meio de uma abordagem documental e comparativa, examinam-se os principais fundamentos teóricos que sustentam a eficiência na gestão pública, os indicadores de desempenho técnico e os mecanismos de controle institucional aplicáveis às empresas públicas provinciais. O estudo toma como caso de referência a Empresa Pública de Áridos e Asfaltos del Azuay (ASFALTAR EP), responsável pela execução de obras viárias entre 2021 e 2024.
