Assessing the feasibility of social identity mapping for adolescents in recovery

    No full text
The specific aim of this study is to pre-test and refine social identity mapping (SIM) protocols and delivery through pilot data collection and interviews (or focus groups) with a small sample of adolescents (N = 15-30) who are in recovery for an alcohol or other drug use disorder; that is, they should either be receiving outpatient treatment for an alcohol or other substance use disorder or be enrolled as a student at a participating recovery high school. The data collection will be used to adapt the SIM approach, which has primarily been used with adults, to an adolescent sample to ensure the SIM is conducted with the clearest instructions and that it captures the most important elements of adolescents’ social environments. Future work will involve using the SIM approach in a longitudinal sample, once the pilot process and data analysis has been completed
