Timor-Leste's Decision to Maintain Cooperation with Singapore Following the Rejection of Full ASEAN Membership
This article examines the dynamics of bilateral relations between Timor-Leste and Singapore following Singapore’s rejection of Timor-Leste's full membership in ASEAN. Although Singapore refused Timor-Leste's membership due to resource limitations, bilateral relations remain intact and cooperation continues. This article argues that Timor-Leste's decision to maintain good relations with Singapore is driven by its political, economic, and social interests within ASEAN. Through Joseph Frankel’s concept of national interest and qualitative data, this study concludes that Singapore's support and its role as the responsible party for the ASEAN Economic Community pillar influences Timor-Leste's economic eligibility as a full ASEAN member. Singapore’s technical assistance programs, such as the Singapore Cooperation Programme (SCP) and Singapore-Timor Leste ASEAN Readiness Support (STARS), contribute to enhancing Timor-Leste’s human resource capacity and quality in preparation process towards full membership in ASEAN. This article demonstrates that small states continue to prioritize their national interests despite facing opposition from other countries. Achieving full ASEAN membership remains Timor-Leste’s primary objective, setting aside emotional factors in international relations dynamics
Analysis of the Capitalization on Companionship among Indonesian Young Women through Otome Mobile Game
With the growing popularity of otome mobile games among women like Love and Deepspace (2024) lies in their ability to provide players with a sense of emotional fulfillment, companionship, and the opportunity to live out their idealized romantic fantasies in a safe and controlled virtual environment. But with this cultivated environment and interaction, players are slowly being pushed to build a parasocial relationship with the male love interest. The emotional fulfillment offered by the game creates a lucrative environment that developers can exploit through gacha systems, in-game purchases, and limited-time content. Using a qualitative approach with critical content analysis of the game's features, observing and conducting in-depth interviews with players, and analyzing findings using thematic analysis, this research examines how Love and Deepspace fulfills the desires for companionship and emotional support among Indonesian young women and how it capitalized by the developers through the pushing of a parasocial relationship and in-game purchases
Perception and Function of Myths in Horror Podcasts in Indonesia
One of the most popular genres in Indonesia is horror content. This is proven by the large number of viewers of horror content on various social media platforms. One of them is RJL 5. Every horror content raised by RJL 5 on various platforms is always crowded with viewers. Until the end of March 2025, it had been watched by 1,045,611,410 viewers, that's just on YouTube, not on other platforms. In every video raised by RJL 5, there is often a discussion about the cultural phenomena and myths of a community group. Myths sometimes have value and are considered sacred by certain communities. With the large audience reach of RJL 5, this study aims to analyze the perceptions and functions of myths from RJL 5 viewers amidst increasingly rapid technological developments. In data analysis, researchers used a structural functional theory approach. The techniques used in the study were literature studies, observations and in-depth interviews. The results of the study showed that even though technology is increasingly modern, myths still have their own function in everyday life. The role and function of myths for the RJL 5 audience is to maintain environmental sustainability, maintain social values and norms, cultural functions or cultural identity, as education, as a relationship between humans and nature and as entertainment
Analysis of Factors Influencing the Implementation of the Ministry of Public Works and Housing's State-Owned Assets Grant Policy to Regional Governments
The prolonged issues surrounding the granting of state-owned assets policy to local governments have hindered the effective management and accountability of these assets within the Ministry of Public Works and Housing. These delays have also caused uncertainty in the allocation of operational and maintenance (O&M) budgets, as local governments can only manage and administer the assets after the formal signing of the state-owned assets grant handover report (BAST). This study aims to analyze the implementation of the state-owned assets grant policy and identify the factors influencing its effectiveness. Using a literature review approach, this research systematically examines data from various sources regarding the policy’s execution, complemented by content analysis for data interpretation. The Rational Model proposed by Khan and Khandaker (2016) forms the theoretical framework for this analysis, focusing on clearly defined goals, detailed planning, appropriate task assignments, standardized procedures, and robust monitoring mechanisms as essential for successful policy implementation. The findings indicate that the policy’s implementation is not yet optimal, with three of the five critical variables—accurate planning, comprehensive standardization, and integrated monitoring—remaining underdeveloped. To improve the implementation, the study suggests formalizing accurate planning through work plans and action plans, enhancing standard operating procedures (SOP) with clear quality standards, and utilizing information technology systems to facilitate real-time monitoring and improve efficiency, transparency, and accountability in the asset grant process. These measures aim to optimize the management and allocation of state-owned assets to local governments, ensuring effective and efficient use of public resources

Analysis of the Effectiveness of the Pakars Validation Application in Assessing Graduate Students’ Financial Eligibility and Awareness as a Strategy to Reduce Outstanding Receivables
This study investigates the effectiveness of the Pakars Validation application in enhancing student eligibility identification and financial awareness as part of a strategic approach to reducing receivables in the Postgraduate Program at UQY University. The persistent problem of student receivables is often driven by the suboptimal utilization of flexible payment schemes and the limited dissemination of accurate information regarding students’ financial obligations. In response to these issues, the Pakars Validation application was developed to streamline administrative and financial validation processes, while automating email-based communications containing billing details and payment reminders. Employing a quantitative approach, the research utilized a survey method involving 100 active postgraduate students selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS). The findings indicate that the Pakars Validation application plays a significant mediating role between student eligibility identification and financial awareness with receivables reduction strategies. Direct effects of the independent variables on receivables reduction were not statistically significant, but became significant when mediated by the application. The study underscores the importance of integrated digital validation systems combined with technology-driven communication tools in improving receivables management. Practically, it recommends strengthening such applications as a core strategy to enhance financial stability and ensure the long-term sustainability of higher education institution
The Influence of Image Media on Early Childhood Learning Motivation
This study investigates the impact of image-based media on early childhood learning motivation at Al-Furqon Islamic Kindergarten in Makassar, Indonesia. From the perspectives of intrinsic motivation and multimedia learning the study implements both quantitative data with a quasi-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design and qualitative classroom observation methods. The intervention involved Group B children viewing visual materials showing familiar cultural farm animals and their settings. This section included nineteen participants. After implementing image media the learning motivation scores of participants significantly increased as confirmed by a paired sample t-test (p < 0.05; Cohen’s d = 4.73) indicating a very large effect size. The qualitative results demonstrated that participants showed higher levels of emotional engagement along with verbal communication and they continued tasks while working with peers based on classroom observations. The research shows that image-based media help both increase motivation levels and encourage valuable cognitive and social engagement during early childhood education. This study demonstrates how culturally relevant visual content available at low cost can build highly engaging learning places that respect child development in underfunded early education facilities. The paper presents implications for early childhood motivation research together with recommendations for educational implementation
