    Get PDF
The present research determines the financial practicality of skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis) fishing unit establishments located in the Flores Sea portion of South Sulawesi. A survey-based research project took place between September and December 2024 to obtain data from Bulukumba and the Selayar Islands regencies through random sampling procedures. The research relied on interview sessions together with questionnaires and observations as well as literature review for data collection. The financial assessment performed a cost breakdown followed by income evaluation using NPV with IRR and Net B/C and PP calculations. The skipjack tuna fishing businesses employing purse seine gear in the Flores Sea operate at a profitable level. Financial analysis demonstrates profitability and sustainability potential because the regencies achieved positive NPV and IRR exceeding interest rates together with Net B/C Ratio values higher than one and PP that lasts for less than three years. The research results validate ongoing support for the skipjack tuna fishing industry throughout the region

    Get PDF
This study aims to analyze Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) complaints in shoe production workers at PT XYZ and evaluate work postures using the Posture Evaluation Index (PEI) approach. The methods used include data collection through direct observation, distribution of Cornell Musculoskeletal Discomfort Questionnaire (CMDQ), and posture assessment using OWAS, RULA, and REBA methods. The results showed that complaints most often occurred in the upper back, neck, and right shoulder, which were mostly caused by non-ergonomic work postures. The PEI assessment showed that the work section with the highest risk was the packing section, with a score of 2.7 indicating the need for immediate improvement. After improving the work posture according to ergonomic principles, the PEI score decreased to 1.6, indicating increased comfort and decreased risk of injury. This study emphasizes the importance of periodic ergonomic evaluations to improve work comfort and productivity

Circumcision from a Medical and Islamic Perspective

    Get PDF
Circumcision is a surgical procedure that involves the removal of the foreskin (prepuce) covering the glans penis. This procedure is typically performed to eliminate smegma, which results from the accumulation of fluids in the foreskin area, causing unpleasant odor and increasing the risk of infection. In Islam, circumcision is a religious practice exemplified since the time of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham), peace be upon him. This literature review discusses circumcision from both a medical and Islamic perspective. The findings indicate that circumcision is performed based on medical indications such as phimosis, paraphimosis, and balanitis, both as a treatment and as a preventive measure against recurrence. Additionally, circumcision has been linked to a reduced risk of urinary tract infections (UTIs) and HIV transmission. In Islamic terminology, circumcision is referred to as khitan. It is strongly grounded in Islamic jurisprudence and is regarded as a significant practice for Muslim males. Circumcision is effective in reducing the incidence of phimosis, paraphimosis, balanitis, as well as the risks of UTIs and HIV transmission. In Islam, khitan is considered part of human nature (fitrah) and is deemed obligatory (wājib) by some schools of thought, while others regard it as a highly recommended (sunnah muakkadah) practice

Effectiveness of Omeprazole Compared to Placebo for Recurrent Abdominal Pain in Adolescents: A Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial

    Get PDF
Recurrent abdominal pain (RAP) is a common somatic complaint in adolescents, contributing to significant morbidity, impaired quality of life, and frequent school absenteeism. Although often functional in origin, proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), particularly omeprazole, are frequently prescribed under the assumption of acid-related pathology. However, clinical evidence supporting this practice in adolescents remains limited. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of omeprazole compared with placebo in reducing pain frequency, duration, and intensity in adolescents with RAP. A prospective, randomized, single-blind, placebo-controlled trial was conducted from August to November 2009 involving 123 adolescents aged 11–14 years who met Apley’s criteria for RAP. Participants were recruited from six junior high schools and randomized into two groups: omeprazole 20 mg once daily (n=59) or placebo (n=64), administered for 14 days. Primary outcomes included pain frequency (episodes/month), pain duration (minutes/episode), and intensity (Wong-Baker FACES Pain Scale). Assessments were performed at baseline and monthly for three months post-intervention. Results showed no significant differences between groups in pain duration or intensity (p > 0.05). Although a significant reduction in pain frequency was initially observed with omeprazole, further analysis revealed baseline imbalances, preventing attribution of this effect to the drug. Both groups demonstrated clinical improvement, reflecting a strong placebo response. In conclusion, omeprazole 20 mg daily for 14 days did not demonstrate superiority over placebo in reducing RAP frequency, duration, or intensity. These findings do not support routine empirical use of omeprazole for undifferentiated functional RAP in adolescents

Financial literacy plays a crucial role in supporting sustainable development and is a fundamental need for individuals in managing their finances. Although Generation Z (Gen Z) is considered tech-savvy, this skill does not always correlate with a high level of financial literacy. The main challenge faced by Gen Z is the increasing temptation of consumerism, driven by various digital facilities such as e-commerce apps and electronic payment services, which make spending easier without proper planning. Despite their relatively high financial literacy, consumer behavior influenced by digital technology remains an obstacle. This study aims to analyze the impact of financial behavior and financial experience on the level of financial literacy among Gen Z, who play a significant role in the digital economy. This research is a quantitative study with a survey approach. The purposive sampling technique was used to select the research sample, with a sample size of 160 respondents calculated using the Hair formula. Data collection was conducted by distributing questionnaires to Gen Z respondents (born between 1995-2012) who are pursuing higher education (diploma or bachelor’s degree) at colleges or universities and reside in Purworejo Regency. Unraveling Contradictions in Quality Management Implementation: An Empirical Study of TQM and ISO Certification in SMEs: JEL Classification: L15, L25, L60, M11, M21, O14, O33, O53, C38

    No full text
In an environment marked by escalating competition, critical customer scrutiny, and evolving supply chain expectations, quality management has become indispensable, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). A review of existing literature reveals that adopting formal systems like Total Quality Management (TQM) and ISO certification often fails to yield significant performance benefits. This study therefore probes a more fundamental issue: to what extent is quality performance driven by the mere existence of these systems versus their level of implementation within managerial processes? Drawing on empirical research involving 120 manufacturing SMEs in Makassar City, analyzed through structural equation modelling (SEM), this paper investigates the interdependencies among top management support, infrastructure, stakeholder participation, process management, and quality performance. Findings indicate that only process management exerts a direct influence on quality performance, while leadership, infrastructure, and stakeholder involvement exert indirect, residual effects constrained by how quality processes are configured. Consequently, this study posits that SMEs should embed quality as an integral, internalized practice, rigorously implement it, and continually pursue improvements. High performance in these firms appears less contingent on external certification or formal policy adoption and more on the strategic integration of quality within their process systems and routines. This insight underscores the need for SMEs to shift focus from compliance-driven approaches to cultivating deeply ingrained quality-centric operational cultures, thereby ensuring sustained competitive advantage and responsiveness to dynamic market demands

Implementation of Line Balancing to Increase the Productivity of the Box Aspect Production Process

    Get PDF
In the manufacturing industry, the balance of the production trajectory is an important factor in increasing productivity and efficiency. In the production process at PT XYZ, there are problems with the balance of the production trajectory at the workstation, so it is necessary to determine the optimal production trajectory so that the load on the workstation can be evenly distributed and able to reduce idle time. The Ranked Positional Weight (RPW) and Region Approach (RA) methods were chosen in this study. The main bottleneck was found at the hole cutting stage, where tool limitations caused output differences between manual and machine processes. This imbalance resulted in idle time which affected the overall production efficiency. The analysis results show that the application of RPW and RA methods is able to improve trajectory efficiency by optimizing the number of work stations and reducing idle time. The analysis results state that the company can achieve a trajectory efficiency of 88.48% and reduce the balance delay from -16.67% to 15,73% and a smoothness index of 611,25%
