No full textInternational audienceThe Duke Emmanuel Philibert of Savoy (1528-1580) was a centrepiece for the finalisation of the Italian wars and also for the signature of the Treaty of Cateau-Cambrésis. His duchy, occupied by France from 1536, was given back to him in 1559 with the exception of various strongholds kept among French and Spanish hands until several years after the treaty. During that period, important examples of artistic creation commemorating the peace treaty and also the autonomy of the duchy were produced in Savoy. This paper explores the interesting configuration of this iconography that underlined the need of self-defence during an uncertain peace.El duque Manuel Filiberto de Saboya (1528-1580) fue una pieza clave para el fin de las guerras de Italia y la firma del Tratado de Cateau-Cambrésis. Su ducado, ocupado por Francia desde 1536, le fue devuelto en 1559 con la excepción de varias plazas que se mantuvieron en manos francesas y españolas hasta varios años después. Durante este tiempo, en Saboya se produjeron importantes ejemplos de creación artística que conmemoraron el tratado de paz y la autonomía del ducado. A practical approach to the homotopy groups of spheres
No full textIn the paper we utilize correspondence between the i-th homotopy group of (r+1)-sphere and the i-th homotopy group of the wedge sum of i (r+1)-spheres based on Hilton's theorem (the homotopy groups of such wedge sums consolidate all information about homotopy groups of spheres). This leads to a practical method for computing the homotopy groups of spheres. Moreover, it reduces the computation of the homotopy groups of (r+1)-sphere to a combinatorial group theory question
ESG INVESTING: A SENTIMENT ANALYSIS APPROACH
No full textWe analyze the predictability of news sentiment (both general news and ESG-related news) on the return of stocks from European and the potential of applying them as a proper trading strategy over seven years from 2015 to 2022. We find that sentiment indicators extracted from news supplied by GDELT such as Tone, Polarity, and Activity Density show significant relationships to the return of the stock price. Those relationships can be exploited, even in the most naive way, to create trading strategies that can be profitable and outperform the market. Furthermore, those indicators can be used as inputs for more sophisticated machine learning algorithms to create even better-performing trading strategies. Among the indicators, those extracted from ESG-related news tend to show better performance in both cases: when they are used naively or as inputs for machine learning algorithms
