Assessing wind turbine performance upgrades using only 10-minute SCADA data

    No full text
International audienceWind turbine operators and owners are presented a range of performance enhancing retrofit options by OEMs and third parties. Such offerings are accompanied by specific details of the expected performance improvements in terms of AEP (Annual Energy Production). These claims can be very difficult to verify independently. The current best practice for AEP gain verification, as dictated by the IEC, would involve a PCV (power curve verification) campaign before and after the retrofit is performed on the turbine. These campaigns require the use of additional and independent wind measurement device(s).Unfortunately, the cost of carrying out such verification campaigns is sometimes higher than the retrofit itself, and therefore can only be performed on selected candidate turbines of a wind farm. This results in relatively high levels of uncertainty surrounding the overall gain that can be achieved at a wind farm or fleet level. In this study we investigated the use of SCADA 10-minute data as a pragmatic means of quickly and efficiently assessing potential AEP gains

Teacher’s Facilitating Strategies in Conducting Science Investigatory Project

    No full text
International audienceObjective: The study assessed the science teacher’s facilitating strategies in conducting the Science Investigatory Project (SIP) in the new normal in terms of formulating a problem, developing a design, and constructing an explanation. Methods: A descriptive-correlational research method was utilized using a survey questionnaire administered to 293 STEM students and 59 STEM research teachers. Findings: Findings revealed that teachers have agreed that the facilitating strategies in conducting SIP in terms of formulating a problem, developing a design, and constructing an explanation have been practiced in the new normal setting. Students strongly agreed that the facilitating strategies had been mostly practiced by the teachers in the new normal. Conclusion: STEM teachers have adapted to the sudden shift in the educational system. They have been prepared with skills and have been practicing various facilitating strategies that have assisted students in conducting their SIPs in the new normal

Country-Based Statistical Analysis of Architecture Publications between 2010 and 2020

    No full text
This study investigates the statistical analysis of the indexed (A&HCI, SCI and SSCI) publications in the field of architecture for the last decade (2010-2020) in order to find out the trends in research fields. Ten sub-research topics, namely construction and building technology, engineering, urban studies, archaeology, history, environmental sciences and ecology, social sciences, arts, history and philosophy of science, and, public administration were grouped within architecture publication related fields. In addition to the topics, the top 20 contributor countries were analyzed in order to find a geographical distribution and to establish a country-level analysis. Principal component analysis and hierarchical cluster analysis techniques were employed for the data analysis. The results show that there is a relationship between the local characteristics of the countries and the relevant research topics in architectural publications and that classification can be made between countries according to these data, but there is no clear correlation between research areas and geographical location

The French constitution of 1958 and the Russian constitution of 1993: a comparison

    No full text
, the Russian Federation adopted a new constitution. This was seen by many in the West as a development that would lead to a new, democratic, law-based political order in Russia. Instead, it resulted in the establishment of the dictatorship of Vladimir Putin. I will attempt to explain some of the reasons I believe this happened. I will also consider the question of the similarities between the Russian constitution and the French constitution of 1958, especially the office of the presidency, with which it has often been compared. I believe that, while it is true that the two constitutions are superficially similar in some aspects, they are the products of two very different political cultures and that such similarities are overdrawn. This paper is my personal view based on many years of study of Russian history. I am considering writing a more detailed version using Russian sources, but this will take some time to produce
