Dérimer Jourdain de Blaye : analyse contrastive des proverbes dans une chanson de geste et ses deux mises en prose
International audienceThe analysis focuses on the comparison of the lexicon of Jourdain de Blaye’s version in alexandrines (first half of the 15th century) and its two prose versions (probably originating from the second half of the 15th century), and more specifically on the proverbial expressions. The aim of the study is to understand the reasons for their conservation, replacement or deletion over the course of the rewrites, by examining several parameters (evolution of the language, influence of the place of the work in the textual tradition). The lexical analysis shows that the two prosification processes respond to very different narrative and stylistic projects. While the first prose work is an abridged version really different from the text of the verse version, the other one is characterised by great fidelity to the source

Towards an Adjustment of the Teaching of Writing to Writers’ Skills
International audienceIn this chapter, we seek to examine the use of big corpora in the teaching practices of writing. We first begin by presenting the specificities of the Ecriscol (Écritures Scolaires) corpus. Ecriscol includes more than 2,000 texts, along with their drafts, written in French as a first language, and offers access to the different rewriting operations. We then conduct a study on the corpus to highlight some characteristics of school writing at the time of leaning. After sharing some findings on the use of connectors at different levels of schooling, we conclude by recommending that adjustments in teaching and pedagogy be made to suit students’ writing skills according to their grade level
Outraging Nature. Zanzotto’s and Tarkovsky’s Nonplaces Between Wasted Arcadia and Landscape’s Revenge
International audienceThis paper aims to explore Zanzotto and Tarkovsky’s representations of the conflict between historical and natural temporalities. In order to better identify common patterns and themes, we will focus our analysis on a few poems selected from the collections Il Galateo in Bosco (1978) and Sovrimpressioni (2001), which describe a lyrical journey through nonplaces We will then compare these texts to Tarkovsky’s way of depicting similar situations in his sci-fi movies. Some of the elements that can be found in both the poet and in the filmmaker’s work include : the metaphor of water (rain in Meteo, crystallization in Conglomerati, the apparently aquatic planet of Solaris and the role of the mud in Stalker); the figure of the guide (the «alta guida» in Il Galateo in Bosco, the holy-fool in Stalker) as well as the interferences between scientific, lyrical and religious languages (the Writer-Professor-Stalker triad in Stalker; Zanzotto’s protean faith). The paper places particular emphasis on the stylistic tools deployed by the two authors: Tarkovsky’s long take, ellipsis and cut; Zanzotto’s macrology, enjambment and use of white spaces
Outcomes, consequences, impact and results of young environmental activists’ climate change protests in contemporary Britain
International audienceYouth-led and youth-supported environmental activism grew from late 2018 onwards through multiple new networks, especially Fridays For Future (FFF) and Extinction Rebellion (XR). These now global movements adopted and adapted the activism of already existing environmental groups, in terms of methods, tactics and targets, etc. The motivations, mobilisations and methods of youth-led environmental activism have drawn much academic attention. Less studied have been the manifold internal and external consequences of young people’s environmental activism. This paper addresses external outcomes, consequences and results of young environmental activists’ protests over the past five years in Britain. It focuses on two fields: public opinion and institutional politics. Data and analysis are provided about:1)The impact on public opinion about climate change, young environmental activists and their political actions. 2)The impact on political parties’ promises and pledges, such as declarations, manifestos, legislation and implementation.Drawing on diverse sources, the paper discusses the outcomes of young people’s environmental activism in contemporary Britain. It contributes to understanding the status and perceptions of young people as political agents, as well as this current young generation’s political participation and engagement more widely
Energy-efficient in-situ monitoring using on-device and distributed learning
National audienceThe utilization of miniaturized sensors that are cost-effective and possess enhanced computational power has emerged as a preferred solution for field monitoring due to their energy efficiency. However, the conventional approach of centralizing data processing in the Cloud exhibits limitations concerning energy consumption and environmental sustainability. In light of these concerns, it seems feasible to leverage Machine Learning algorithms directly on IoT devices for field monitoring while minimizing energy expenses. This objective can be attained through diverse optimization approaches, including but not limited to, regulating sensing parameters and employing Federated Learning in a Wireless Sensor Network
