Passive fault-tolerant control for vehicle active suspension system based on H2/H∞ approach
In this paper, a robust passive fault-tolerant control (RPFTC) strategy based on H2/H∞ approach and an integral sliding mode passive fault tolerant control (ISMPFTC) strategy based on H2/H∞ approach for vehicle active suspension are presented with considering model uncertainties, loss of actuator effectiveness and time-domain hard constraints of the suspension system. H∞ performance index less than γ and H2 performance index is minimized as the design objective, avoid choosing weighting coefficient. The half-car model is taken as an example, the robust passive fault-tolerant controller and the integral sliding mode passive fault tolerant control law is designed respectively. Three different fault modes are selected. And then compare and analyze the control effect of vertical acceleration of the vehicle body and pitch angular acceleration of passive suspension control, robust passive fault tolerant control and integral sliding mode passive fault tolerant control to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of passive fault tolerant control algorithm of active suspension. The studies we have performed indicated that the passive fault tolerant control strategy of the active suspension can improve the ride comfort of the suspension system
Digital implementation of modified phase locked loop based harmonic extraction for shunt active filter
This paper presents a digital implementation of modified synchronous reference frame in which the Phase Locked Loop (PLL) is customized to get the angle for the reference frames from the supply voltage by Enhanced Phase Locked Loop (EPLL). The extracted harmonics currents are given to an Artificial Neural Network based Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (ANNSVPWM) which has better switching control and reduced stress on the switches to cancel the distortions at the Point of Common Coupling (PCC). The algorithm was modelled and simulated by Matlab/Simulink to validate the results. The experimental verification is carried on Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) Spartan board to check the effectiveness of the control strategy being implemented and the results conclude that the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) values are below the required levels of power quality standards
Enhanced frequency domain decomposition algorithm: a review of a recent development for unbiased damping ratio estimates
Enhanced frequency domain decomposition (EFDD) is one of OMA methods and has received significant interest from the engineering community involved in the identification of the modal structure. The great attention towards this method is driven by its capability as a user-friendly and fast processing algorithm. However, this method has drawbacks in providing accurate identification of damping ratios, despite natural frequencies and mode shapes can be computed through assuredly and reasonably accurate estimates. The exact practical computation of modal damping is still an open issue, often leading to biased estimates since the errors are coming from every step in EFDD procedures and mainly due to signal processing. Thus, the computation of modal damping becomes tremendously vital in structural dynamics because modal damping is one of the critical parameters of resonance. This review aims to provide relevant essential information on modal damping for a reliable estimation, reduce uncertainties and define error bounds. A literature review has been carried out to find the best practice criteria for modal parameter identification, in particular, modal damping ratio
Dynamic response analysis for the aero-engine dual-rotor-bearing system with flexible coupling misalignment faults
This paper focuses on the nonlinear response characteristics of an aero-engine dual-rotor-bearing system with flexible coupling misalignment faults in the low-pressure rotor system (rotor 2). The motion equations of the system are formulated by using finite element method, in which the excitations induced by the misalignment faults, the dual-unbalance excitations of the two rotors (the high-pressure rotor system-rotor 1 and the low-pressure rotor system-rotor 2), the gravities, and the nonlinear force induced by the inter-shaft bearing are all considered. By using numerical calculation method, the motion equations are solved to obtain the nonlinear responses of the system. Then, the nonlinear responses for the alignment dual-rotor-bearing system are analyzed, the hardening type hysteresis characteristics with jump phenomenon are shown. Accordingly, the nonlinear responses affected by the amount of parallel misalignment and angular misalignment are discussed in detail. The results show that, with the increase of by the amount of parallel misalignment (angular misalignment), the frequency components 2 times rotational speed of rotor 2 appear, and the amplitudes of the responses at the super-harmonic frequency components and combined frequency components get larger for not only rotor 2 but also rotor 1, which indicates that the vibration characteristics of misalignment faults in rotor 2 can be transmitted to the rotor 1 and can be used to diagnose the misalignment faults. The results obtained in this paper will contribute to the response analysis for the aero-engine dual-rotor-bearing system with flexible coupling misalignment faults
Free longitudinal vibrations of functionally graded tapered axial bars by pseudospectral method
In this work, the problem of free longitudinal vibration of rods with variable cross-sectional area and material properties is investigated using the pseudospectral method. With the gradation of material properties like modulus of elasticity and mass density in the axial direction, the results corresponding to a functionally graded axial bar are obtained using the proposed pseudospectral formulation. The pseudospectral formulation used is relatively easy to implement and powerful in analyzing vibration problems. With the help of several numerical examples, the non-dimensional natural frequencies of rods obtained using the pseudospectral method are compared with those obtained by the analytical solution, generalized finite element method, the discrete singular convolution method and differential transformation method. The numerical results obtained show that the proposed technique allows boundary conditions to be incorporated easily and yields results with good accuracy and faster convergence rates than other methods
Local Volterra multivariable chaotic time series multi-step prediction based on phase points clustering
To solve the multivariable multi-step prediction problem in chaotic complex systems, this paper proposes a local Volterra model based on phase points clustering. Firstly, reconstruct the phase space of the data and calculate the similarity of the evolution trajectories. According to the similarity, the initial clustering center of the observation point is calculated and the clustering is carried out by means of K mean. We find the cluster class nearest to the prediction phase, compare the predicted phase point with the evolutionary trajectory similarity of all the observed points in the cluster, select the optimal neighboring phase point, and the optimal neighboring phase point is used for training and multi-step prediction of the multivariable local Volterra model. The proposed model method can greatly reduce the time of multi-step prediction and improve the efficiency of prediction. Finally, by experimenting with the data of Beijing PM2.5 acquired from UCI machine learning database, the experimental results show that this model method has better predictive performance
Discharge coefficient calculation method of landing gear shock absorber and its influence on drop dynamics
Oleo-damping performance is a key factor affecting the landing gear buffer performance, while the flow discharge coefficient determines buffer damping force. For improving the calculation precision of discharge coefficient estimation method in aircraft design manual, a model for discharge coefficient is established based on pipeline fluid mechanics and damping orifice structure, and a numerical calculation is performed. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis is also conducted for damping orifice structure using the commercial software FLUNET. The simulation result of damping orifice discharge coefficient correlates well with the theoretical result. On this basis, landing gear drop dynamic response are calculated with the numerical analysis method using obtained discharge coefficient and compared with experimental results. Furthermore, the influences of current discharge coefficient estimation method and simulation method are analyzed and compared on the hydraulic force and the ground reaction force. The study demonstrates that the poor precision of discharge coefficient estimation method in aircraft design manual leads to more than 30 % differences between the drop dynamic estimation results and the experimental results. The method of CFD simulation or theoretical analysis can improve the calculation precision of discharge coefficient by about 17 %
Bearing fault feature extraction method based on complete ensemble empirical mode decomposition with adaptive noise
As an important part of rotating machinery, bearings play an important role in large-scale mechanical equipment. Abnormal bearing conditions may cause the machine to malfunction, or even evolve into a serious accident. Therefore, the accurate and timely fault diagnosis of the bearing is of great significance. Based on EMD, this paper introduces the working principles and characteristics of EEMD and CEEMDAN, respectively. Then the signal was decomposed by EEMD and CEEMDAN respectively. The simulation results show that CEEMDAN has better effect on signal decomposition. Then, comparing the effect of CEEMDAN and EEMD on bearing fault feature frequency extraction, the experiment proves that CEEMDAN has a better ability to preserve original signal and eliminate noise than EEMD method, and can extract bearing fault feature more accurately and timely
Outer characteristic simulation and performance analysis of variable shock absorber
In this study, a variable shock absorber (VSA) for semi-active suspension is developed, the structure and operation principle of the VSA is illustrated. Based on the theory of hydraulics and elasticity, the ways of calculating for the embranchment flow rate and the throttle pressure difference on the series-parallel complex pipe line (SPCPL) are deduced and employed, and the detailed mathematical model of the VSA is established by using the differential equation for annular laminar deformation under uniform load (ALDUUL). The MATLAB/Simulink software is used to simulate the detailed model, and the calculated results agree well with the experimental results. In particular, the influence rules of the bypass groove diameter of the VSA on its damping is analyzed through this model, and the results obtained can technically support the design and performance prediction of the VSA to a certain degree
Rolling bearing fault diagnosis based on improved complete ensemble empirical mode of decomposition with adaptive noise combined with minimum entropy deconvolution
The vibration signals provide useful information about the state of rolling bearing and the diagnosis of the faults requires an accurate analysis of these signals. Several methods have been developed for diagnosing rolling bearing faults by vibration signal analysis. In this paper, we present an improvement of the technique Complete Ensemble Empirical Mode Decomposition with Adaptive Noise (CEEMDAN), this technique is combined with the Minimum Entropy Deconvolution (MED) and the correlation coefficient to diagnose defects. First, the vibration signal was decomposed by the improved CEEMDAN decomposition into several oscillatory modes called Intrinsic Mode Function (IMF). After calculation of the correlation coefficients between the original signal and their IMFs, the modes with higher coefficients are selected as the relevant modes. Secondly, the MED technique is applied to the selected modes in order to improve the sensitivity of the scalar and frequency indicators of faults detection. Finally, kurtosis and envelope analysis are used to detect and locate the defect position. The simulation is carried out using the Case Western University data base and the results obtained show that the proposed method provides very good results for the early detection and diagnosis of defects and can efficiently extract the defective characteristics of the rolling bearing
