Degradation feature extraction method for piezoelectric ceramic of ultrasonic motor based on DCT-SV cross entropy
Crack on piezoelectric ceramic is the main reason leading to failure of ultrasonic motors. A novel degradation feature extraction method based on discrete cosine transform (DCT) -singular value (SV) cross entropy was proposed in this paper. In order to improve the correlation with the crack, the DCT coefficients with the property of energy aggregation, were used to extract fault information. To avoid the influence of human factors in traditional DCT de-noising method, a matrix composed of DCT coefficients was constructed, and the SV cross entropy of the matrix was taken as the degradation feature for ultrasonic motor. A numerical simulated noise was added to the measured signal to verify the anti-noise performance of the feature. Analysis of the experimental results demonstrates that the proposed DCT-SV cross entropy is feasible and effective in indicating the degradation of piezoelectric ceramic in ultrasonic motor
Optimization of the longitudinal-torsional ultrasonic step-like horn design for milling tool applications via the tool load account
Ultrasonic horns are used in the ultrasonic-assisted milling and cutting tools. However, the interaction with tool end vibrations deteriorates the horn performance. In this study, the amplification coefficients and vibration node locations of an ultrasonic horn were determined via the 1D wave theory and optimized by the tool load effect account. By arranging spiral grooves at the straight part of the ultrasonic horn, a longitudinal-torsional modal converter was introduced. This made it possible to convert longitudinal vibrations into longitudinal-torsional coupled ones by the superposition of incident and reflected longitudinal waves with reflected transverse ones at grooves. Orthogonal L9 (33) tests with parameters of spiral grooves as variables were designed and conducted, and longitudinal-torsional ratios (LTR) of the milling tool end under different conditions were assessed using the commercial ANSYS software package. The in-depth analysis of simulation results implies that the LTR values are controlled by the following influence factors in the decreasing order: helical angle, number of grooves, and groove width. Single-factor tests indicate that LTR exhibits an initial drop and a further rise with the helical angle, attaining its minimal value at 30°; it drops with the number of grooves n, and remains practically unchanged with the groove width variation. Finally, the vibration tests of the proposed horn with the optimized parameters corroborated its feasibility and demonstrated its excellent performance in the ultrasonic-assisted milling tool application
Influence of complex damping on transverse and longitudinal vibrations of portal frame
This paper presents a formulation and solution for the problem of transverse and longitudinal vibration of the portal frame with damping. The dissipation of vibration energy in the model is caused by simultaneous constructional, internal and external damping. The eigenvalues of the system for a selected and variable parameters were calculated. The effect of different type of damping on amplitude decay factor was presented
A fault feature extraction method for single-channel signal of rotary machinery based on VMD and KICA
A feature extraction method combined with variational mode decomposition (VMD) and kernel independent component analysis (KICA) is proposed to improve the fault feature extraction of vibration signal of rotary machinery. Firstly, VMD is used to decompose the single-channel vibration signal. Secondly, calculate the correlation coefficient between each component and the original signal. Finally, a new multidimensional observation signal is formed with high correlation components, and the fault signals will be extracted from the new observation signal by KICA. Compared with some typical fault feature extraction methods, the better performance of the proposed method is demonstrated by two experiments which are faulty rolling bearing experiment and a comprehensive experiment with faulty rolling bearing and faulty gear. Furthermore, an experiment of faulty rotary shaft verifies the effectiveness of this method. The results demonstrate that the proposed method is efficient for fault feature extraction of single-channel vibration signal of rotary machinery
Variable learning rate EASI-based adaptive blind source separation in situation of nonstationary source and linear time-varying systems
In the case of multiple nonstationary independent source signals and linear instantaneous time-varying mixing systems, it is difficult to adaptively separate the multiple source signals. Therefore, the adaptive blind source separation (BSS) problem is firstly formally expressed and compared with tradition BSS problem. Then, we propose an adaptive blind identification and separation method based on the variable learning rate equivariant adaptive source separation via independence (EASI) algorithm. Furthermore, we analyze the scope and conditions of variable-learning rate EASI algorithm. The adaptive BSS simulation results also show that the variable learning rate EASI algorithm provides better separation effect than the fixed learning rate EASI and recursive least-squares algorithms
Free vibration of a Levy-type solution for plates based on two-variable refined plate theory by using SEM
The exact solution of structural dynamic related problems can be achieved by using the frequency-dependent spectral method. The exact solution is thought to be accurate while reducing the number of degree-of-freedom to resolve the cost and computational drawbacks. This paper investigates the vibrational characteristics of a Levy-type solution of thick plates considering shear deformation based on the two-variable Refined Plate Theory (RPT). The plates, which are modeled by an isotropic Levy-type rectangular plate, were solved by using the Spectral Element Method (SEM). The SEM for RPT Levy-type in the frequency domain is derived to formulate the free vibration problems of the plates. Transcendental stiffness matrices are well established in vibration, formulated from the exact solutions of the differential equations of the RPT Levy-type plate element. The present spectral element model has four line-type degree-of-freedoms (DOF) on each edge of the Levy-type rectangular plate. Natural frequencies of the plate are computed by means of the Wittrick-Williams algorithm. Numerical comparisons are given to show the effectiveness, efficiency, and accuracy of the SEM by using one element. Unlike the FEM, the SEM gives exact solutions of the natural frequencies of plates without element discretization procedures
Inference of the optimal probability distribution model for geotechnical parameters by using Weibull and NID distributions
To obtain the optimal probability distribution models of geotechnical parameters, the goodness of fit of the normal information diffusion (NID) distribution and Weibull distribution were investigated and compared for actual engineering samples and Monte Carlo (MC) simulated samples. Two datasets from actual engineering parameters (the strength of a rock mass and the average wind speed) were used to test the fitting abilities of these two distributions. The results show that the parameters of the NID distribution are easily estimated, the Kolmogorov-Smirnov (K-S) test results of the NID distribution are smaller than those of the Weibull distribution, and the NID distribution curves can perfectly reflect the stochastic volatility of geotechnical parameters with small sample sizes. The sample size effects on the fitting accuracy of the NID distribution and Weibull distribution were also investigated in this paper. Eight simulated samples with different sample sizes, namely, 15, 20, 30, 50, 100, 200, 500, and 1000, were produced by using the MC method based on two known Weibull distributions. The results show that with an increase in the sample size, the K-S test results of the NID distribution gradually decrease and tend to converge, while the chi-square test results of the NID distribution remain low and are always lower than those of the Weibull distribution. The cumulative probability values of the NID distribution are larger than those of the Weibull distribution and are always equal to 1.0000. Finally, the comparison of the fitting accuracy between the NID distribution and normalized Weibull distribution was also analyzed
The shear characteristic and failure mechanism study of infilled rock joints with constant normal load
In order to evaluate the shear deformation characteristics, the direct shear tests for the rock-like specimens with regular sawtooth were carried out in the laboratory. The different asperity angles and different normal stress conditions were considered and the dilatancy characteristics and the corresponding failure modes were analyzed accordingly. The uncommon asperity angle of 25°, 40° and 55° have been selected to compare with the common angles, which can study the differences in detail. Studies show that when the normal stress keeps constant, the peak shear strength increases first and decreases with the increasing asperity angle afterwards. It is because the force causing sawtooth damage under tensile failure is less than the force under shear failure. When the asperity angle keeps constant, the greater the normal stress, the greater the peak shear strength. The larger the normal displacement of dilatancy angle and dilatancy are caused by larger asperity angle. According to the verification, the test results are in good agreement with the analytical results. It should be noted that the analytical results presented locate below the test result curves, which is due to the small values of c and m in the formula. The sliding failure is usually induced when the asperity angle or the normal stress is small. On the contrary, the tensile damage normally occurs while the asperity angle is large enough
Discussion on stability analysis and support technology of surrounding rock of gob-side entry retaining
In order to further analyze the stability and control mechanism of surrounding rock in the gob-side entry retaining, the slip instability coefficient k1 and compression failure coefficient k2 are proposed by the mechanical analysis of the established filling body mechanics model, and when both k1 and k2 are less than 1, the roadside filling body can keep stable. The mechanical model of main roof is analyzed by the static equilibrium method, and the formula for calculating the maximum roof subsidence is deduced. Based on the data of haulage gateway of No. 21201 coal face of Juncheng Coal Mine, using the formula to calculate the amount of roof subsidence at the junction point of filling body and the roof, and proposes two methods to reduce roadway floor heave by increasing the roadside filling width and transferring the surrounding rock stress to the gob. Finally, the corresponding surrounding rock control technology is proposed according to the surrounding rock deformation characteristics during roadway excavation, roadway retention and roadway reuse, and then carries out field monitoring and evaluation. The results show that after adopting the corresponding supporting technology, the surrounding rock of the gob-side entry retaining has been effectively controlled from the excavation to the reuse period with the coal face advancing, the roof-to-floor convergence of roadway solid coal side is less than 220 mm, the roof-to-floor convergence of filling body side is less than 280 mm, and the convergence on the both sides of the roadway is about 190 mm. At the same time, the calculated roof subsidence with the junction point of filling body and the roof is similar to the field monitoring results, which achieves the expected control effect, and the research contents provides a certain reference for the support technology of the gob-side entry retaining
Shaking table test and numerical simulation for acceleration response laws of shallow-buried biased double-arch tunnel
In order to reveal the acceleration response law of shallow-buried bias double-arch tunnel under earthquake. The acceleration response of the shallow-buried biased double-arch tunnel under the action of Wenchuan wave was studied by the combination of shaking table test and numerical simulation. The effects of non-bias and bias on the acceleration response of shallow-buried biased double-arch tunnels were discussed. Research indicates: (1) Horizontal acceleration amplification factor of the left-hole (non-biased side) for the shallow-buried biased double-arch tunnel is V-shaped, and the right-hole (bias side) is ∩-shaped. The vertical acceleration amplification factor of the left-hole tends to increase continuously, and the right-hole shows a trend of decreasing first and then increasing continuously. (2) In the state of both the bias and the non-biased tunnel, the acceleration response in the vertical direction is stronger than that in the horizontal direction. (3) In the two states of bias and non-bias, the difference between the horizontal and vertical acceleration amplification factors of the double-arch tunnel is larger. It indicates that the excitation direction of the seismic wave has a great influence on the acceleration response of the double-arch tunnel. (4) Relatively biased double-arch tunnels, the regularity of non-biased double-arch tunnels is better, indicating that the bias voltage has a greater impact on double-arch tunnels
