Enhancement of optical and mechanical properties of silica coatings deposited on sandblasted glass

    No full text
International audienceAn optimization of the SiO2 concentration in a sol-gel coating prepared using TEOS and MTES as silica alcoxide and mixing with a Colloidal silica suspension (Ludox 40 %), of sandblasted (200 g) etched with hydrofluoric acid (5 %) soda-lime glass, is leading to crack-free films with a thickness of 3.5 μm in a single dip and 5 μm in two dips. This represents a significant improvement if compared to previous similar works. In addition we are achieving through this coating, an improvement of the transmittance, from 64.65 % to 86 %, an arithmetic roughness decreasing from 2.8 μm to 0.56 μm and the bending strength is nearly multiplied by four

Randomized Phase II Trial Evaluating Treatment with EGFR-TKI Associated with Antiestrogen in Women with Nonsquamous Advanced-Stage NSCLC: IFCT-1003 LADIE Trial

    No full text
International audiencePurpose: The incidence of lung cancer has dramatically increased in women. Preclinical data have suggested that combining EGFR-tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) with an antiestrogen may overcome resistance to EGFR-TKI.Patients and Methods: The IFCT-1003 LADIE trial was a 2 Â 2 arms parallel open-label randomized phase II trial. EGFR-TKI-na€ ve postmenopausal women with advanced lung cancer were treated with gefitinib (G) versus gefitinib þ fulvestrant (GþF) in the EGFR-mutated group (EGFR þ ) or with erlotinib (E) versus erlotinib þ fulvestrant (EþF) in the EGFR wild-type group (EGFR-WT). The primary objective was progression-free survival (PFS) at 3 and 9 months for EGFR-WT and EGFR þ patients. Results: Overall, 204 patients (gefitinib 104 and GþF 100) and 175 patients (erlotinib 87 and EþF 88) were enrolled in the EGFR þ and EGFR-WT cohorts. In the EGFR þ cohort, the primary endpoint was reached, with 58% of the GþF group patients being nonprogressive at 9 months. Adding fulvestrant to gefitinib was not associated with improved PFS (9.9 vs 9.4 months) or overall survival (OS; 22.1 vs 28.6 months). In the EGFR-WT cohort, the primary endpoint was also achieved (33.7% of the patients were nonprogressive at 3 months). Adding fulvestrant to erlotinib was not associated with improved outcome (PFS 1.8 vs 2.0 and OS 10.3 vs 7.3 months). No PFS difference was observed regarding estrogen receptor alpha expression. The tolerance was as expected with no treatmentrelated death. Conclusions: Adding fulvestrant to EGFR-TKI is feasible, but not associated with prolonged PFS regardless of EGFR status. The lack of benefits while combining fulvestrant to EGFR-TKI does not support its future development in an unselected population.</div

Une étude spectroscopique operando de l’adduit Re2O7.2H2O obtenu par hydratation contrôlée de Re2O7.

International audienceWe provide here a comprehensive investigation spectroscopic of the controlled hydration of Re2O7 using Raman, FTIR and XAS techniques in complement with ab initio modelling for confirming the spectral assignments. Hence, the Raman signature of Re2O7.2H2O was obtained, and the evolution kinetics was investigated to provide a detailed description of the hydration process

The First year of the French lysimetric network

International audienceThe need for continuous local and long-term observations in the vadose zone has been growing for many years, as they are essential for improving our understanding of the processes occurring in the vadose zone of the soil and enhancing seasonal forecasts from numerical models.Lysimeters and Ecotrons are the main tools to directly access water and nutrient transport over long periods of time. In France, with the impulsion of the ONEWATER project, a French lysimeter network is in development since April 2024, taking benefice of the existing structure.A workshop was organised to identify all the sites in France and to collect expectations. We  considered about the major scientific questions that could be supported by such a network, and identifying the measurement systems and instruments that are compatible with our ambitions, as well as considering the management and diffusion of the data.In 2024, 32 lysimeter sites have been identified in France, with a total of 650 lysimeters. These sites are very heterogeneous : i) different type and size of devices : (columns, boxes, plates, mini-lysimeters, porous cells, Ecotrons, etc.); ii) different filling methods (undisturbed or reconstituted), iii) different measurements (probes, frequency…), iv) different atmospheric condition (natural or controlled)… Despite each site is unique and has specific scientific objectives, they all measure drainage. The site managers expect this network will help sharing experience in terms of device management, data valorisation and probe development, and to enable the data collected in the sites to be more used.A main issue with this heterogeneous network is to be able to compare and interprete each site. To do so  several methods will be used, from in situ temporary experiment to numerical simulations. Additional, the individual sites would benefit from some upgrade, with the use of  similar low-cost probes  and  effort will be done to share and valorize the lysimetric data

Navigating academic setbacks with intention and self-efficacy for decentering and self-compassion

    No full text
International audienceAfter setbacks, students want to regain their balance. One way to do this is by keeping a healthy distance from disturbing cognitive and emotional experiences (decentering) and being kind to oneself (self-compassion). The present work pioneers assessing the intention and self-efficacy for decentering and self-compassion after academic setbacks on a comprehensive international sample across four studies (N = 1846). We propose distinguishing between intention and self-efficacy, as students may desire to engage in decentering and selfcompassion following setbacks (intention), but they may not believe they can do so (self-efficacy). Study 1 suggests that the post-setback decentering and self-compassion dimensions have strong reliability and are well separated regarding both the intention and self-efficacy constructs. Intention and self-efficacy had weak-tomoderate correlations, indicating the relevance of the distinct constructs. Study 2a and Study 2b demonstrated that both constructs have meaningful relationships with constructs related to well-being and mental health in the academic context but are independent of academic performance. Study 2c demonstrated a meaningful relationship pattern with growth mindset and mindset meaning system measures. Students' post-setback intentions and self-efficacy for decentering and self-compassion seem relevant for their well-being during academic challenges but not for their academic performance

The fNIRS glossary project: a consensus-based resource for functional near-infrared spectroscopy terminology

    No full text
International audienceSignificanceA shared understanding of terminology is essential for clear scientific communication and minimizing misconceptions. This is particularly challenging in rapidly expanding, interdisciplinary domains that utilize functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS), where researchers come from diverse backgrounds and apply their expertise in fields such as engineering, neuroscience, and psychology.AimThe fNIRS Glossary Project was established to develop a community-sourced glossary covering key fNIRS terms, including those related to the continuous-wave (CW), frequency-domain (FD), and time-domain (TD) NIRS techniques.ApproachThe glossary was collaboratively developed by a diverse group of 76 fNIRS researchers, representing a wide range of career stages (from PhD students to experts) and disciplines. This collaborative process, structured across five phases, ensured the glossary’s depth and comprehensiveness.ResultsThe glossary features over 300 terms categorized into six key domains: analysis, experimental design, hardware, neuroscience, mathematics, and physics. It also includes abbreviations, symbols, synonyms, references, alternative definitions, and figures where relevant.ConclusionsThe fNIRS glossary provides a community-sourced resource that facilitates education and effective scientific communication within the fNIRS community and related fields. By lowering barriers to learning and engaging with fNIRS, the glossary is poised to benefit a broad spectrum of researchers, including those with limited access to educational resources
