    No full text

Schizotypal dimensions by migrant status in the general population: An exploratory study

    No full text
International audienceMigrant status and ethnic minority background have been associated with increased risk for psychosis. However, it remains unclear if such association exists with subclinical forms of psychosis. In two general population samples, totaling 460 subjects, we investigated whether migrant status and/or ethnicity predict self-reported positive, negative and/or disorganized dimensions of psychosis (as measured by the SPQ-B). In comparison to the reference population, we observed higher scores in the negative dimension among both first and second-generation migrants as well as in some ethnic minority groups (particularly North Africa and French overseas). Our findings highlight the need to understand the mechanisms underlying this association between negative schizotypal traits and migrant/ethnic minority status. The fact that migration/ethnicity are associated with both psychotic disorders and subclinical manifestations of psychosis also support the psychosis continuum theory. The higher rates of negative schizotypal traits in these populations underscores the necessity for tailored policies and interventions to enhance mental health and prevent the transition to psychosis in these subgroups

Investigation of the heterogeneity of cancer cells using single cell Ca2+ profiling

    No full text
International audienceBackgroundCalcium (Ca2+) is an essential second messenger that controls numerous cellular functions. Characteristics of intracellular Ca2+ oscillations define Ca2+ signatures representatives of the phenotype of a cell. Oncogenic functions such as migration, proliferation or resistance to chemotherapy have been associated with aberrant Ca2+ fluxes. However, the identification of Ca2+ signatures representatives of the oncogenic properties of cancer cells remains to be addressed.MethodsTo characterize and investigate the heterogeneity of oncogenic Ca2+ signatures, we proposed an unbiased scalable method that combines single cell calcium imaging with graph-based unsupervised and artificial neural networks.ResultsFrom an initial dataset of 27,439 agonist-induced Ca2+ responses elicited in a panel of 16 prostate and colorectal cancer cell lines, we discriminate 26 clusters of Ca2+ responses using unbiased unsupervised clustering. From these clusters, we generate Ca2+ signatures for each cancer model allowing to functionally compare different cancer models. In parallel, we propose supervised neural network models predicting characteristics of a single cancer cell based on its profile of Ca2+ responses. We applied those methods to characterized a remodeling of Ca2+ signatures associated with acquired docetaxel resistance (12,911 cells) or in the course of the interaction of cancer cells with fibroblasts (34,676 cells). At single cell level, our supervised neural network succeeded to identify docetaxel-resistant cancer cells and to distinguish cancer cells from fibroblasts on the sole measure of agonist-induced Ca2+ response.ConclusionsOur method demonstrates the potential of Ca2+ profiling for discriminating cancer cells and predict their phenotypic characteristics at single cell level, and provides a framework for researchers to investigate the remodeling of the Ca2+ signature during cancer development

Bursted! Un outil d'agrégation des keystrokes

    No full text
National audienceBursted! is a tool that allows analyzing bursts of writing, i.e. the text segments produced without interruption during one or several writing sessions from writing keylogging files provided by software such as Inputlog or Scriptlog. This work is part of the theoretical framework proposed by Cislaru and Olive (2018) to study the process of textualization. Bursted! automates the extraction of bursts of writing and associated variables, and provides a '.csv' file ready for further processing.

    No full text

    No full text
International audienceThis research explores the challenges faced by impact-driven start-ups in attracting funding. These ventures must demonstrate their economic viability while asserting their social and environmental legitimacy, a combination that can be complex for investors accustomed to purely financial criteria. Drawing on neo-institutional theory, the study analyzes how entrepreneurs' narratives align with the expectations of various impact investors. Based on a corpus of written pitches and semi-structured interviews, an automated textual analysis is conducted to identify the factors influencing investment decisions. The findings highlight the importance of reducing informational asymmetry between investors and entrepreneurs, particularly through the use of standardized international impact assessment criteria. The ultimate goal is to inform public policy to better support these start-ups driving systemic innovation, and to encourage investors to integrate social and environmental dimensions into their decision-making processes.
