FATTY ACIDS COMPOSITION OF POULTRY MEAT PRODUCED IN INDOOR AND OUTDOOR REARING SYSTEMS

    No full text
The research was carried out on chickens of Ross 208 provenience, which were divided into two groups. Chickens reared outdoor had statistically significantly higher portion of α-linolenic acid (P<0.05), linoleic and arachidonic acid, as well as higher total of PUFA n-6 acids (P<0.01) than chickens that were kept indoor. However, these chickens had higher portion of myristic and palmitic acid (P<0.01), as well as DHA (P<0.001) in the lipids of breast muscles. There was also higher content of myristic and linoleic acids (P<0.01) determined in the lipids of thigh muscles of chickens reared indoor, while chickens kept outdoor had higher content of EPA (P<0.01), palmitic, stearic and arachidonic acids (P<0.001). Chickens of the 2nd group exhibited more favorable ratio of PUFA n-6 / PUFA n-3 in the lipids of breast muscles. The same ratio for the lipids of thigh muscles was better in the 1st group

INTENSITY OF ATTACK OF BOTRYTIS CINEREA PERS. EX FR. ON THE CV. GRAŠEVINA AND TRAMINAC GRAPES AND THE EFFICIENCY OF BOTRYTICIDES

Botrytis gray mold caused by Botrytis cinerea is an important pathogen of grapevines all over the world. In order to determine the intensity of B. cinerea attack on mature grapes and efficiency of botryticides (cv. Traminac - iprodion, pyrimethanil, fludioxinil + cyprodinil; cv. Graševina - fenhexamid, fludioxinil+cyprodinil, tebuconazol+diclofluanid) a two-year experiment (2001-2002) was set up on locations Mladice (Traminac) and Škomić (Graševina). By evaluation of the intensity of B. cinerea infection on the Graševina and Traminac grapes the strongest infection determined on the control, and the weakest on the variant with botryticides Switch. Comparison of infection intensity on the Traminac grapes with the Graševina grapes led to no differences concerning the sensitivity of varieties. The disease intensity primarily depended on climate conditions. Both experimental years were charactized by the quantity of precipitation in the vine-yards which were in favour of the high humidity allowing high disease intensity

INFLUENCE OF Ca-FOLIAR APPLICATION ON YIELD AND QUALITY OF SWEET PEPPER IN GLASSHOUSE CONDITIONS

Calcium is an extremely important nutrient in highly productive fruit growing such as glasshousegrown sweet pepper. Good bioavailibility of calcium can be achieved by calcisation, but in many cases owing to its high prices, long-term effects, along with a delayed initial effect, as well as problems that appear due to radical change in availability of other nutrients in soil, its application is restricted. This paper deals with research on effects of foliar applications of the commercial chemical named "Calciogreen", as a supplement to the standard fertilization in greenhouse growing, on yield and quality of pepper fruits of the Cecil cultivar in the region of East Croatia

RASPODJELA SJEMENA PŠENICE PO POVRšINI I DUBINI U IZRAVNOJ SJETVI

INFLUENCE OF SEX ON LIPIZZANER BREED FOALS DEVELOPMENT

The offspring’s development especially in the first months after foaling is crucial for further development. If favourable conditions of feeding, keeping and fancying as well as other important conditions are ensured, a homogenous growth and development of the offspring is obtained. Research was conducted on 44 male and 42 female Lipizzaner breed foals in the first six months after foaling. The measuring of the withers height, chest girth and cannon bone circumference were done seven days after foaling and at the age of six months. Measuring data were processed by the statistical program SPSS/PC (Nie et al., 1975). The processed data of the obtained measurings indicate homogeneity for both male and female foals. The male foals had a little higher values than the female in both measurings, but the differences between sexes were highly significant only in the cannon bone circumference. Correlations among obtained values were positive and ranged between low and very high, with correlation coefficients between r= 0.379 and r=0.843 for male and r=0.338 and r=0.723 for female foals. The differences between the obtained values were significant and highly significant and a little more marked in male foals
