    Esta propuesta de asesoría se enfoca en la articulación del modelo de Aceleración del Aprendizaje con el proyecto educativo comunitario (PEC) de la Institución Etnoeducativa Manuela Vergara de Curi, ubicada en la Ciudad de Cartagena de Indias, esta escuela es oficial y mixta; actualmente se encuentra en un proceso de transición de PEI a PEC. Ya que es reconocida como Etnoeducativa. Y en su nueva oferta educativa, brinda el modelo de Aceleración del Aprendizaje, para todos aquellos adolescentes que se encuentran en extra edad y no han concluido su Educación Primaria. Por lo anterior, surge esta propuesta de asesoría, cuyo objetivo general es: asesorar a la institución educativa Manuela Vergara de Curi en la implementación del modelo de aceleración de aprendizajes, con el fin de articularlo con el proyecto educativo comunitario (PEC) y hacerlo pertinente. a las necesidades de la comunidad educativa. Con ello se busca que a través de esta asesoría se fortalezcan los procesos pedagógicos de la escuela. Y el modelo de Aceleración del Aprendizaje se lleve a cabo de manera asertiva y efectiva

    Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus (DMT1) is currently one of the most harmful diseases that affect people of any age, including children from birth. Exogenous insulin injections remain the most common treatment for these patients, however, it is not the optimal one. The scientific community has endeavored to optimize i nsulin administration using electronic devices and thus improve the diabetics life expectancy. There are numerous limitations for this biomedical evolution to become a reality such as the control algorithms validation, experimentation with electronic devices, and applicability in patients age transcendence, among others. This work presents the prototyping of a neuro-fuzzy intelligent controller on the Texas Instruments LAUNCHXL-F28069M development board to form a hardware in the loop (HIL) scheme. That is, the embedded controller sends the insulin delivery rate data to the computer where it is captured by the Uva/Padova software and integrated into the metabolic simulation of virtual diabetic patients treated with an insulin pump. The main task of the embedded intelligent algorithm is to determine the optimal insulin infusion rate for each of the 30 virtual patients who follow a meal protocol. The novelty of this work focuses on overcoming current limitations through a first intelligent control algorithm a pproach applicable to artificial pancreas (A P) and an alyzing the feasibility of this proposal in age transcendence since the results correspond to in-silico tests in populations of 10 adults, 10 adolescents and 10 children. © 2020 Universitat Politecnica de Valencia.     Feminization of famine in Cartagena de Indias: a perspective from the intersectionality and rights approach

    Con el presente trabajo se propone analizar críticamente la feminización del hambre en los sectores populares de Cartagena de Indias desde la interseccionalidad y el enfoque de derechos. Para lo anterior, fue necesario 1) identificar las prácticas de normalización y naturalización de privilegios y opresión que agudizan la feminización del hambre en su dimensión simbólica y material; 2) explicar desde el enfoque interseccional las desigualdades estructurales que operan en la feminización del hambre en sectores populares de Cartagena. 3) y evidenciar desde el enfoque de derechos la dimensión material de vulneración jurídica del derecho a la alimentación a causa de la feminización del hambre. Se desarrolló una investigación cualitativa centrada en el paradigma sociocrítico que permitió ver las matrices de opresión estructurales que operan en la feminización del hambre y que exacerban las desigualdades frente al goce y garantías al derecho a la alimentación. Para los fines investigativos se implementó una metodología feminista que permitió la construcción del conocimiento de modo conjunto con las mujeres participantes de la investigación en una relación horizontal entre sujetas investigadoras y sujetas participantes. Con la investigación se concluye que la feminización del hambre y la vulneración del derecho a la alimentación se potencian por las dimensiones culturales de las prácticas alimentarias y la naturalización de roles, normas y estereotipos patriarcales que regulan los entornos familiares, laborales y afectivos que están en la base de la experiencia del hambre y del acceso a la alimentación.     Optimal Selection of Conductor Sizes in Three-Phase Asymmetric Distribution Networks Considering Optimal Phase-Balancing: An Application of the Salp Swarm Algorithm

    This paper presents a new methodology to simultaneously solve the optimal conductor selection and optimal phase-balancing problems in unbalanced three-phase distribution systems. Both problems were represented by means of a mathematical model known as the Mixed-Integer Nonlinear Programming (MINLP) model, and the objective function was the minimization of the total annual operating costs. The latter included the costs associated with energy losses, investment in conductors per network segment, and phase reconfiguration at each node in the system. To solve the problem addressed in this study, a master–slave methodology was implemented. The master stage employs a discrete version of the Salp Swarm Algorithm (SSA) to determine the set of conductors to be installed in each line, as well as the set of connections per phase at each of the nodes that compose the system. Afterward, the slave stage uses the three-phase version of the backward/forward sweep power flow method to determine the value of the fitness function of each individual provided by the master stage. Compared to those of the Hurricane-based Optimization Algorithm (HOA) and the Sine Cosine Algorithm (SCA), the numerical results obtained by the proposed solution methodology in the IEEE 8- and 25-node test systems demonstrate its applicability and effectiveness.     Applying the Crow Search Algorithm for the Optimal Integration of PV Generation Units in DC Networks

    This paper presents an efficient master–slave methodology to solve the problem of integrating photovoltaic (PV) generators into DC grids for a planning period of 20 years. The problem is mathematically formulated as Mixed-Integer Nonlinear Programming (MINLP) with the objective of minimizing the total annual operating cost. The main stage, consisting of a discrete-continuous version of the Crow search algorithm (DCCSA), is in charge of determining the installation positions of the PV generators and their corresponding power ratings. On the other hand, at the slave level, the successive approximation power flow method is used to determine the objective function value. Numerical results on 33- and 69-bus test systems demonstrate the applicability, efficiency and robustness of the developed approach with respect to different methodologies previously discussed in the scientific literature, such as the vortex search algorithm, the generalized normal distribution optimizer and the particle swarm optimization algorithm. Numerical tests are performed in the MATLAB programming environment using proprietary scripts. © 2023 by the authors

    Climate anxiety, wellbeing and pro-environmental action: correlates of negative emotional responses to climate change in 32 countries

    This study explored the correlates of climate anxiety in a diverse range of national contexts. We analysed cross-sectional data gathered in 32 countries (N = 12,246). Our results show that climate anxiety is positively related to rate of exposure to information about climate change impacts, the amount of attention people pay to climate change information, and perceived descriptive norms about emotional responding to climate change. Climate anxiety was also positively linked to pro-environmental behaviours and negatively linked to mental wellbeing. Notably, climate anxiety had a significant inverse association with mental wellbeing in 31 out of 32 countries. In contrast, it had a significant association with pro-environmental behaviour in 24 countries, and with environmental activism in 12 countries. Our findings highlight contextual boundaries to engagement in environmental action as an antidote to climate anxiety, and the broad international significance of considering negative climate-related emotions as a plausible threat to wellbeing. © 2022 The Author

    Presence of perchlorate in marine sediments from Antarctica during 2017–2020

    Perchlorate of natural origin is a persistent pollutant that affects thyroid function by inhibiting iodine uptake, and this pollutant is frequently detected in different ecosystems at concentrations that can harm human health. In this study, we measured the perchlorate concentrations in 3,000 marine sediment samples from January to March in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020 during the 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th Colombian Scientific Expeditions to Antarctica. The sampling zones were located at 15 different points on the South Shetland Islands and Antarctic Peninsula, and they were measured using a selective perchlorate electrode. The concentration data indicate that perchlorate reached a minimum concentration of 90 ppm on Horseshoe Island and a maximum concentration of 465 ppm on Deception Island, suggesting a spatial variation in perchlorate concentrations that can be attributed to the natural formation of this pollutant due to volcanic eruptions. Additionally, homogeneous distribution of perchlorate was not observed in Antarctic

    Market value calculation and the solution of circularity between value and the weighted average cost of capital WACC

    Most finance textbooks present the Weighted Average Cost of Capital (WACC) calculation as: WACC = Kd×(1-T)×D% + Ke×E%, where Kd is the cost of debt before taxes, T is the tax rate, D% is the percentage of debt on total value, Ke is the cost of equity and E% is the percentage of equity on total value. All of them precise (but not with enough emphasis) that the values to calculate D% y E% are market values. Although they devote special space and thought to calculate Kd and Ke, little effort is made to the correct calculation of market values. This means that there are several points that are not sufficiently dealt with: Market values, location in time, occurrence of tax payments, WACC changes in time and the circularity in calculating WACC. The purpose of this note is to clear up these ideas, solve the circularity problem and emphasize in some ideas that usually are looked over. Also, some suggestions are presented on how to calculate, or estimate, the equity cost of capital. © 2009 Mackenzie Presbyterian University. All rights reserved
