FROG interface de livres numériques inclusifs pour lecteurs dyslexiques.
International audienceEvery year, thousands of children suffer the repercussions of DYS disorders characterised by difficulties in processing information that impact their ability to communicate, interact and learn. Thus MOBiDYS, with its FROG digital book format reading solution, allows DYS audiences to have better access to written material. This format offers fifteen reading aids to help dyslexic readers decipher, understand and retain better. FROG’s first version needed ergonomic improvements, so MOBiDYS worked with the Digital Design Lab at the école de design Nantes Atlantique to redesign the user interface of the FROG reading tools, moving from a flat menu interface with confusing navigation to an intuitive interface with a logical hierarchization of the tools. Design proposals were then prototyped and tested in two phases by DYS children, leading to FROG’s second version currently being implemented.Chaque année, des milliers d’enfants subissent les répercussions des troubles DYS caractérisés par des difficultés de traitement de l’information qui impactent leur capacité à communiquer, interagir et apprendre. Ainsi, MOBiDYS, avec son format de livre numérique FROG, permet aux publics DYS d’avoir un meilleur accès à la langue écrite. Ce format propose quinze aides à la lecture pour aider les lecteurs dyslexiques à mieux déchiffrer, comprendre et retenir. La première version de FROG avait besoin d’améliorations ergonomiques. MOBiDYS a donc travaillé avec le Digital Design Lab de l’école de design Nantes Atlantique pour refaire l’interface utilisateur des outils de lecture. Les propositions ont ensuite été prototypées et testées en deux phases par les enfants de la DYS, ce qui a conduit à la seconde version de FROG actuellement en cours de déploiement
Dorina de Gouvêa Nowill: uma intelectual transfronteiriça na educação dos cegos
International audienceThis paper aims to revisit the actions of the blind Brazilian female teacher, Dorina de Gouvêa Nowill, in her activism and protagonism for the education of the blind and people with impaired vision. It strives to, go beyond a restrictive philanthropic perspective, especially in relation to her contributions to the implementation of public policies and the diffusion and transmission of cultural practices. The historical sources consulted allow Nowill to be recognised as an intellectual creator and mediator and highlight her central position in the promotion of knowledge circulation about and for the education of the blind; in the training of technical professionals and teachers; in the production of cultural objects; in translation of material about or for the blind into Portuguese and/or Braille; and by her capacity to influence national public arenas and her impact on the international associative movement of the blind, "dissolving" borders.Este estudio tiene por objetivo conocer las acciones de la profesora brasileña ciega, Dorina de Gouvêa Nowill, en su activismo y protagonismo en el área de la educación de ciegos y de las personas con baja visión, más allá de una perspectiva restrictiva a la filantropía, especialmente en relación a sus contribuciones en la implementación de políticas públicas y en la difusión y transmisión de prácticas culturales. Las fuentes históricas consultadas permiten reconocer a Nowill como una intelectual creadora y mediadora, considerando su posición central en la promoción de circulación de conocimientos sobre y para la educación de ciegos; en la formación de profesionales técnicos y profesores; en la producción de objetos culturales; traducción de publicaciones para portugués y/o braille y contenidos sobre o para ciegos; así como su capacidad para influenciar en el espacio público nacional y su impacto en el movimiento asociativo internacional de ciegos, diluyendo fronteras.Este estudo objetiva retomar as ações da professora brasileira cega, Dorina de Gouvêa Nowill, em seu ativismo e protagonismo pela educação dos cegos e das pessoas com visão “subnormal”, para além da perspectiva restritiva da filantropia, principalmente em relação às suas contribuições para a implantação de políticas públicas e para a difusão e transmissão de práticas culturais. Performance study of spiral Darrieus water rotor with V-shaped blades
International audienceBecause of the excessive consumption of fossil fuels, the world has begun suffering from the depleting of those sources and wide environmental problems. Hydraulic energy, considered as unlimited and non-detrimental, has become the best refuge to supply world demand while protecting the planet. Above all vertical axis water turbine, for their low cost and independency on water direction, Darrieus turbine takes the advantage to be more suitable for some implementation. Thus, various studies have been carried out to improve its efficiency. This study emphasizes on the effect of the blade chord ratio on a spiral Darrieus water rotor performance which has not been two much explored. An experimental static and dynamic tests realized in an irrigation canal were performed with a 3D printed spiral Darrieus rotor. With the intention of the performances betterment, four spiral Darrieus rotors having a chord ratio equal to 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, and 1, respectively, were tested through numerical simulations using the ANSYS FLUENT 17.0 software. Based on the numerical study, it is provided that the rotor with chord ratio of 0.5 was the optimum. In fact, it gives maximum power coefficient of 0.188 at a tip speed ratio equal to 0.71. The obtained findings present an interesting data that could provide the hydrodynamic characteristics of the water flow for the engineers and designers to improve the performance of the spiral Darrieus rotor
