(R1524) The Existence and Uniqueness of Solution for Fractional Newel-Whitehead-Segel Equation within Caputo-Fabrizio Fractional Operator
In this paper, we introduce and study the existence and uniqueness theorem of the solution for the fractional Newell-Whitehead-Segel equation within Caputo-Fabrizio fractional operator. Also, we propose a new numerical method known as natural reduced differential transform method (NRDTM) for solving this equation. We confirm our theoretical discussion with two numerical examples in order to achieve the validity and accuracy of the proposed method. The computations, associated with these examples, are performed by MATLAB software package
(R1471) MHD Reiner-Rivlin Liquid Flow Through a Porous Cylindrical Annulus
The present work concerns the steady and unsteady flow of an incompressible Reiner- Rivlin liquid in the porous annular region of two concentric rotating cylinders, which is moving parallel to their axis, about the common axis of these cylinders under uniform magnetic field acted in perpendicular direction of the axis. The electrically conducting flow of Reiner-Rivlin liquid in the annular porous region is governed by the Brinkman equation with the consideration that the effective viscosity of liquid is same as viscosity of the liquid. Analytical expressions for velocity components, pressure gradient and volumetric flow rate are established. Effects of the magnetic field and other flow parameters on the axial and rotational velocity components and flow rate are discussed graphically

(R1466) Ideals and Filters on a Lattice in Neutrosophic Setting
The notions of ideals and filters have studied in many algebraic (crisp) fuzzy structures and used to study their various properties, representations and characterizations. In addition to their theoretical roles, they have used in some areas of applied mathematics. In a recent paper, Arockiarani and Antony Crispin Sweety have generalized and studied these notions with respect to the concept of neutrosophic sets introduced by Smarandache to represent imprecise, incomplete and inconsistent information. In this article, we aim to deepen the study of these important notions on a given lattice in the neutrosophic setting. We show their various properties and characterizations, in particular, we pay attention to their characterizations based on of the lattice min and max operations. In addition, we study the notion of prime single-valued neutrosophic ideal (resp. filter) as interesting kind and we discuss some its set-operations, complement and associate sets
The roles of prior experience and the location on the severity of supply chain disruptions
This study examines relationships between the location of supply chain disruptions (SCDs) within the supply chain, a firm’s experience with SCDs, and the disruption severity. Using organisational learning theory, we propose that an organisation’s prior experience with SCDs will reduce the negative influence of future disruptions. However, the location of disruption occurrence (internal to the firm vs. external to the firm) also plays a vital role in the severity of future disruptions. We consider two measures of SCD severity to quantify the extent of negative influence on firms: (1) the initial loss of return on assets (ROA) and (2) the total loss of ROA over time. We empirically evaluate the performance of 262 publicly traded U.S. firms that experienced an SCD. Our study shows that the influence of internal and external SCDs on firms can be different when firms do and do not have experience with similar events. More specifically, the results show that when firms have not experienced a similar event in the past, internal SCDs are associated with a higher disruption severity than are external SCDs. The results also show that prior experience significantly decreases the disruption severity suffered by firms after internal SCDs
Pragmatic ethics for generative adversarial networks: Coupling, cyborgs, and machine learning
This article addresses the need for adaptive ethical analysis within machine learning that accounts for emerging problems concerning social bias and generative adversarial networks (gan s). I use John Dewey’s criticisms of the reflex arc concept in psychology as a basis for understanding how these problems stem from human-gan interaction. By combining Dewey’s criticisms with Donna Haraway’s idea of cyborgs, Luciano Floridi’s concept of distributed morality, and Shaowen Bardzell’s recommendations for a feminist approach to human-computer interaction, I suggest a dynamic perspective from which to begin analyzing and solving issues of injustice evident in this particular domain of machine learning
Victimization in Homeless African American Women and their High-Risk Behaviors: Implication for Counselors
Victimization is an increasing concern among homeless African American women. This study’s aim was to investigate victimization factors (e.g., sexual assault, physical assault, and domestic violence) and its prevalence and effects on African American women high risk behaviors while homeless. Participants were 200 homeless African American women (ages, 18 years to 65 years and above) receiving services from clinics, shelters, and community agencies. The authors examined the predictive power of victimization factors (e.g., sexual assault, physical assault, and domestic violence) of homeless African American women on the number of substance use per week in a large metropolitan area in the Southern region of the United States. Using both multiple and logistic regression tests, the authors were able to find correlations in the variables. Results indicated that physical assault and domestic violence were found to be independently related to the number of substance use per week among homeless African American women
Integer quantum Hall effect with an anisotropic Coulomb interaction potential
We consider the properties of an integer quantum Hall effect state at filling factor one of the lowest Landau level in presence of an anisotropic Coulomb interaction potential. We adopt a disk geometry and calculate analytically the energy per particle corresponding to a system in the thermodynamic limit. It is found that the main effect of this particular anisotropic Coulomb interaction potential is an overall increase of the energy. The energy of the state at filling factor one in presence of this anisotropic Coulomb interaction potential can be scaled to that of the isotropic Coulomb counterpart by a scaling function tuned by the interaction anisotropy parameter
Stability of fucoxanthin in pasteurized skim and whole goat milk
Obesity has become a worldwide problem giving rise to several health issues. Fucoxanthin, a marine carotenoid with anti-obesity activity, has potential application as a biofunctional ingredient in human food. The objective of this study was to evaluate the thermal stability of fucoxanthin at pasteurization temperature and, subsequently, its storage stability in goat whole milk (WM) and skim milk (SM) at refrigeration temperature for four weeks. Additionally, the effect of supplementation of fucoxanthin on the composition of milk, pH, acidity, color, and lipid oxidation of WM and SM was evaluated during the four week storage period. Fresh goat WM and SM were supplemented with fucoxanthin at a concentration of 10.67 µg/mL (2.56 mg/240 mL of milk, one serving), pasteurized at 64◦C for 30 min and stored at 4◦C for four weeks. The quantification of fucoxanthin in WM and SM was performed every week using a HPLC method. Moreover, the effect of supplementation of fucoxanthin on the composition of WM and SM was evaluated by a LactiCheck milk analyzer, and the color was evaluated by reflectance using a HunterLab colorimeter. Lipid oxidation, as the 2-thiobarbituric acid-reactive substances (TBARS) at A532, was determined using a Spectramax Plus spectrophotometer during storage. Data were analyzed by a split-plot design using PROC MIXED of SAS. The recovery yields of fucoxanthin from the pasteurized WM and SM were 96.17 ± 1.5 % and 96.89 ± 1.5 %, respectively. Both milks exhibited high recovery yields of fucoxanthin. Fucoxanthin was stable in goat WM and SM during storage at 4◦C for four weeks. The addition of fucoxanthin, at the concentration reported to have an anti-obesity effect in humans, to pasteurized WM and SM did not affect the composition or the physicochemical properties of milks but influenced the color, especially increasing the yellowness in the samples. These results revealed that goat milk can be used as a suitable matrix for the supplementation of fucoxanthin as a biofunctional ingredient in human foods
An Examination Of Supplemental Instruction And Tutorial Services On The Persistence Rates Of African-American Males At An HBCU
There is a growing concern regarding the low persistence rates of African- American males in education. Many provide introspection as to why this phenomenon exists. Yet, few researchers address it from the perspective of how support services and resources could assist these students in the persistence of their degree in a four-year setting. The U.S. Department of Education (2013) notes that the persistence rates of students of color remain slightly below enrollment percentages. These numbers are significantly lower when comparing graduation and enrollment percentages for African- American male students completing a four-year degree of 32%. In comparison, the combined rate for both African-American males and females is 45% (NCES, 2016). Given these numbers and the fact that African-American males represent one of the smallest populations with low graduation rates, this study is timely and warranted.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the independent variables of academic (Grade Point Average (GPA), Satisfactory Academic Performance (SAP), social-personal (first-generation, age, socioeconomic status), and school-related factors (classification, Supplemental Instruction (SI), tutorial services) and the persistence rates of African-American males in select Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) courses. Secondary data analyzed what salient indicators have the most profound effect on the persistence rates of African-American male students. A theoretical framework of Whiting\u27s Scholarly Identity Model (SIM) and Chickering\u27s student identity development theory was used to analyze the data of academic factors (Grade Point Average (GPA), Satisfactory Academic Performance (SAP), Social-Personal factors (first-generation, age), and School-Related factors (classification, Supplemental Instructional (SI) support, and tutorial services). The independent variables were academic, social-personal, and school-related factors and the dependent variable was persistence rates. All statistical tests employed the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS).
Guided by Whiting\u27s (2014) scholar identity model and Chickering and Reisser\u27s (1995) seven vectors of student identity development, this research fills the gap in the literature by analyzing secondary data from an HBCU. The study used multiple correlational analysis, which identified relationships between the independent variables of academic (Grade Point Average (GPA), Satisfactory Academic Performance (SAP), social-personal (first-generation, age, socioeconomic status), and school-related factors (classification, Supplemental Instruction (SI), tutorial services) on the persistence rates of African-American males in a select Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics course (dependent variable).
The analysis of secondary data related to the three research questions and corresponding null hypotheses using Pearson\u27s correlation coefficient measured the variables\u27 relationships. The data results revealed that two null hypotheses were rejected while one failed to be rejected. Most specifically, academic and school-related factors revealed positive correlations with persistence rates of African-American males. Socialpersonal factors also indicated a weak positive correlation; but without enough evidence to support a relationship between first-generation, socioeconomic status, or age and the persistence rates of African-American males enrolled in select STEM courses.
Whiting\u27s (2014) scholar identity model and Chickering and Reisser\u27s (1995) seven vectors of student identity development examined the meaning of the data analysis. The scholar identity model (2014) posited that self-efficacy, internal locus of control, and positive role models are essential for African-American males to believe in their ability to become scholars, model scholarly behavior, and self-identify as scholars. Student identity development described how students developed personal and academic skills as they matured and experienced higher education and real-world phenomena. The findings inform education leadership, administrators, faculty, staff, researchers, and practitioners about the role of using an asset-based approach with supplemental instruction and tutorial services in increasing academic persistence rates of African-American males
