    (R2025) Improving the LDA Linear Discriminant Analysis Method by Eliminating Redundant Variables for the Diagnosis of COVID-19 Patients

    Nowadays, with the increase in data production speed, the process of data analysis has faced many problems because this big data is often accompanied by plug-in data and redundant data. Therefore, the use of dimensional methods in the pre-data analysis stage is necessary. In data mining, dimensional reduction is one of the most important steps in data pre-processing. Principal component analysis (PCA) and linear discriminant analysis (LDA) are often used to reduce dimensions in data mining. The LDA method is a monitored and controlled method but the PCA is not controlled method. When the number of samples in classes is large and when training data is uniformly distributed, LDA works better. LDA is a traditional statistical method for classification. In this research, we improve the LDA method by identifying and removing redundant variables. Then we use this improved LDA method to classify the diagnosis data of Covid-19 patients

    (R2033) Resonant Curve Due to Perturbations of Geo-Synchronous Satellite including Effect of Earth’s Equatorial Ellipticity

    In this paper, we have investigated resonant curve due to frequencies − angular rate of rotation of the Earth and the rate of change of Earth’s equatorial ellipticity parameter. Perturbation equations are used to convert the non-linear equations of motion of geo-synchronous satellite to the linear form. With the help of graphs, we have shown the effect of Earth’s equatorial ellipticity parameter on oscillatory amplitude and variation in orbital radius of satellite. By defining different perturbations, we have also drawn resonant curve due to frequencies steady-state orbital angular rate of satellite and the rate of change of Earth’s equatorial ellipticity parameter. we have analyzed the undamped and unforced phase portrait and phase space by using the method of Poincare section. Finally, we have obtained energy integral and motion of the mean longitude for the geo-synchronous satellite in the set of axis rotating with Earth

    CRUISING UNCERTAINTY: QUEERING DEWEY AGAINST HETERONORMATIVITY

    Dewey’s philosophy of inquiry and criticisms of the quest for certainty align well with concepts from queer theory. In the following, I draw Dewey’s work together with that of queer theorists, especially that of José Estaban Muñoz, Jack Halberstam, and Kathryn Bond Stockton, as a step toward developing queer pragmatism beyond the vernacular notion of practical political compromise. In the spirit of the work of Charlene Seigfried, Shannon Sullivan, Barbara Thayer-Bacon, Mary Vorsino, and others who argue for connecting Dewey’s work with feminist theory, I argue for re-reading Dewey through a queer lens. Extending Dewey’s criticisms of certainty to include heteronormativity provides a view of his work as a form of queering that coheres with Muñoz’s utopian concept of queer futurity, Halberstam’s positive notion of failure, and Stockton’s idea of growing sideways. Imagining pragmatism and queer theory together proves fruitful for both. Dewey’s philosophy of inquiry helpfully subtends queer projects and advocacy. Concepts from queer theory help advance Dewey’s philosophy into inquiries concerning oppression and identity, including issues concerning gender and sexuality. As Shannon Sullivan has indicated, Dewey’s ideas of habituation, as well as his concepts of doing and undergoing, align well with Judith Butler’s concept of performativity and apply to reconfiguring gender to undermine essentialism. I build upon Sullivan’s work through queering Dewey’s philosophy. Although Dewey is writing from within a heteronormative framework, his philosophy is not necessarily delimited by adherence to a male-female, heterosexual-homosexual, or masculine-feminine binary system when reconstructed as queer. Queering helps open Dewey’s work beyond the confines of heteronormativity that have restricted the scope of his philosophy. This ongoing process provides tools that help solidify an argumentative phalanx against authoritarian ideology that is based upon unfounded, absolutist, and heteronormative assumptions concerning gender and sexuality. Dewey’s pragmatism provides a critical perspective for undermining absolutist and essentialist ideology that are being used to police identity, desire, and growth. Queering Dewey’s work provides a significant contribution to the development of queer pragmatism beyond the politics of compromise

    (R2055) Magnetic Effects on Unsteady Non-Newtonian Blood Flow through a Tapered and Overlapping Stenotic Artery

    This study aims to investigating the effect of magnetic field and porosity on non-Newtonian flow of blood through a tapered, and overlapping stenosed artery. The Casson fluid model represents the rheological character of blood. A tapered and overlapping stenosed artery influences the hemodynamic behavior of the blood flow. The problem is solved by using analytical techniques with the help of boundary conditions, and results are displayed graphically for different flow characteristics like pressure drop, shear stress, velocity profile and stream function. It is realized that rises in Darcy number and Womersley number accelerates the velocity profile and reduces the radial direction, but increases in magnetic field reduces the velocity profile. The pressure drop is increasing with an increase in magnetic field and Womersley number but drops with an increase in the value of Darcy number. The wall shear stress is increasing with an increase in the value of magnetic field, at a stenosis region but converse at a non-stenosis region, it drops by ascending in the value of Darcy number, and increases as Womersley number rising, and the wall shear stress decelerate as tapered angle rises. The interesting outcomes collected in this literature review and survey conducted can aid the medical practitioners to predict blood movement in an atherosclerotic arteries. More so, from this study we discovered that magnetic field parameter possesses the ability to reduce viscosity of the blood, a leading cause of heart attack, strokes, anaemia and many other cardiovascular diseases

    Social Bonds And Fear Of Crime Victimization Among Youth: An Analysis Using Ferraro’s Risk Assessment Framework

    The impact of crime taking place in society can be fluid and may quickly gain the form of fear among individuals with both direct and no direct victimization experience. While youth are extensively more vulnerable and immature than adults (Krulichová & Podaná, 2019), they are more likely to have or learn the fear of crime victimization. Therefore, the distribution and etiology of youth fear of crime victimization should not be overlooked. Ferraro\u27s (1995) risk assessment framework suggests incorporating theoretical variables to predict the evolution of fear. With the inclusion of the perceived risk of victimization, Ferraro\u27s risk assessment framework provides a comprehensive understanding of how an individual\u27s response to crime transitions into fear of crime victimization. This research utilized the Ferraro risk assessment framework and employed Social Bond Theory to examine the impact of social bonds on youth\u27s perceived risk and fear of crime victimization. This quantitative research utilized secondary data to perform analysis. The data for this research came from the National Evaluation of the Teens, Crime, and Community and the Community Works (TCC/CW)program, a self-report study of adolescents from several locations across the United States (Esbensen, 2005). This research conducted a Mediation Analysis to understand the relationships between social bonds, such as parental attachment, school commitment, the belief of guilt for wrongdoings, and involvement in legitimate activities, perceived risk of victimization, and fear of crime victimization among youth in general and across various race/ethnic and gender backgrounds of the youth. Results from Mediation Analysis identified that perceived risk of victimization significantly mediated the relationship between parental attachment and fear of crime, and school commitment and fear of crime among all youth and girls. Further, the study results suggested a non-significant relationship between all the elements of the social bonds, perceived risk of victimization, and fear of crime victimization among young males irrespective of their race and ethnic origin. Overall, two elements of social bonds, parental attachment and school commitment, were found to be important in minimizing the perceived risk of victimization and fear of crime victimization among the youth in general and specifically among females.     Supercritical Water Oxidation: Testing Of Aqueous Wastewater Solutions For Space Applications

    Future extended-duration space missions will only be practicable with effective life support systems that incorporate resource reclamation technologies from bio[1]waste streams. In the case of water reclamation during these missions, Supercritical Water Oxidation (SCWO) has been proposed as an attractive technology. In SCWO processes, organic waste compounds are oxidized in water above its critical point at 374°C and 22 MPa. This work focuses on the SCWO of ersatz wastewater (EWW) streams that simulate waste streams typically observed during International Space Station (ISS) isolated crew missions. A tubular reactor was designed and built at NASA’s Glenn Research Center (NASA-GRC) to allow the oxidation of a continuous flow of ersatz waste at isobaric supercritical conditions. A description of the reactor design and the operational procedures for the heat-up, injection, and establishment of steady-state conditions are presented. The oxidizer in these tests, air (21% O2 with balanced N2) was used and “fuel” (i.e., EWW at different levels of dilution) were independently heated and pressurized as they entered the reactor in a co-flow configuration at supercritical conditions. Experiments were performed at reactor set point temperatures and pressures ranging from 550-610°C and 26-28 MPawith air flows ranging from 0.75 to 2.5 standard liters per minute (SLPM) and fuel flows ranging from 2.0 to 4.0 mL/min. Qualitative assessments of the extent of conversion (odor, foaming, turbidity) are discussed along with quantitative measurements using Raman spectroscopy and Total Organic Carbon (TOC) analysis. Additional co-fuel experiments using ethanol were conducted to increase internal bulk temperatures for conversion of the dilute EWW stream. The overall results of the EWW tests concluded that with appropriate reaction temperatures, equivalence ratios favoring excess air, and residence time of 55 seconds to 93 seconds, near 100% TOC conversion could be achieved. An additional preliminary study for less complex mixtures using urea-aqueous solutions was conducted. Preliminary results show a similar trend in the EWW results, but with challenges in maintaining sufficient bulk fluid temperatures due to reactor constraints, thus limiting complete conversion of ammonia.
