Estimation of the parameters of Exponential distribution using top-K-lists
This paper deals with the estimation of location and scale parameters of the exponential distribution based on top-k-list of a sequence of observations from a two parameter exponential distribution. The minimum variance unbiased estimates of the location and scale parameters are given. Some comparisons of the variances of these estimates with respect to that of the kth record values are given
Exponential Type Product Estimator for Finite Population Mean with Information on Auxiliary Attribute
The main objective of the present study is to develop a new modified unbiased exponential type product estimator for the estimation of the population mean. A stage-structured two species competition mathematical model under the effect of disease
In this paper we study the dynamics of two competing species model; one of this competing species is stage structured and the disease spreads only in the other competing specie. In order to keep the model simple, we present it under the strong assumption that the disease can not cross the species barrier. Dynamical behaviors such as positivity, boundedness, stability, bifurcation and persistence of the model are studied analytically using the theory of differential equations. Computer simulations are carried out to substantiate the analytical findings. It is noted that c the loss rate of the population, T the maturation time and f the intraspecific coefficient are the key parameters which we need to control or protect th to keep away the mature healthy population from extinction and also keep the infected individuals of the latter species from extinction respectively
Analysis of repairable M[X]/(G1,G2)/1 - feedback retrial G-queue with balking and starting failures under at most J vacations
In this paper, we discuss the steady state analysis of a batch arrival feedback retrial queue with two types of service and negative customers. Any arriving batch of positive customers finds the server is free, one of the customers from the batch enters into the service area and the rest of them join into the orbit. The negative customer, arriving during the service time of a positive customer, will remove the positive customer in-service and the interrupted positive customer either enters into the orbit or leaves the system. If the orbit is empty at the service completion of each type of service, the server takes at most J vacations until at least one customer is received in the orbit when the server returns from a vacation. The busy server may breakdown at any instant and the service channel will fail for a short interval of time. The steady state probability generating function for the system size is obtained by using the supplementary variable method. Numerical illustrations are discussed to see the effect of system parameters
On the Growth of Solutions of the Generalized Axially Symmetric, Reduced Wave Equation in (n + 1) Variables
In this paper we have investigated the growth properties of solutions of the generalized axially symmetric, reduced wave equation in (n + 1) variables. Results analogus to those for order and type found in the theory of entire functions of several complex variables, of solutions, in terms of their expansion coefficients have been obtained. Our study is essential to a detailed understanding of the scattering of waves by central potentials and may be applied for generalized (n + 2)dimensional problems of potential scattering in quantum mechanics
Group Decision Making Using Comparative Linguistic Expression Based on Hesitant Intuitionistic Fuzzy Sets
We introduce a method for aggregation of experts’ opinions given in the form of comparative linguistic expression. An algorithmic form of technique for order preference is proposed for group decision making. A simple example is given by using this method for the selection of the best alternative as well as ranking the alternatives from the best to the worst
Properties of a finite fully spin-polarized free homogeneous one-dimensional electron gas
The homogeneous electron gas model has been quite successful to predict the bulk properties of systems of electrons at various densities. In many occasions, a simplified free homogeneous electron gas model represents a powerful first approximation to a real system. Despite our considerable knowledge on the bulk properties of a homogeneous electron gas, advances in nanoscience and nanotechnology call for a greater effort to understand the opposite limit of small finite systems of electrons with size-dependent properties. In this work, we provide a detailed description of the properties of a finite fully spin-polarized (spinless) free homogeneous one-dimensional electron gas, the simplest of the free homogeneous electron gases. We derive exact analytical results for various quantities such as the one-particle density function, two-particle density function, one-particle density matrix, pair correlation function and energy of finite systems with an arbitrary number of electrons. The results obtained provide a detailed view on how various quantities corresponding to a finite system approach their bulk (thermodynamic limit) value
Socio-economic factors in measuring the demand for residential neighbourhood in Nigeria
Socio-economic factor plays an important role in housing decision making through which demand for housing types and residential neighbourhood are made. This study aims at examining the relationship between socio-economic factors and the demand for residential neighbourhood in Nigeria within the context of Ibadan urban cenre. The study utilised the quantitative and qualitative methods. Quantitative approach was employed by the administration of questionnaire among 494 respondents while the qualitative aspect dealt with direct interviews through the use of unstructured questionnaire among 27 participants. Correlation, regression and content analyses were used to evaluate the results of the methods. The findings revealed that, these factors have a great influence on the social status of housing consumers and affect their demand for residential neighbourhood. In conclusion, the demand for residential neighbourhood in Ibadan urban centre has the potential to be explained by the socio-economic status such as; educational level, employment status, official status and monthly income of housing consumers
Consumer decision making process model for housing demand
Every part of man’s life today involves in the consumption of goods and services. Housing as a product is part of goods that is consumed by man. Studies on housing demand as related to all categories of housing consumer, how and why consumers make specific decisions on housing demand, are not common. This study aimed at examining the Consumer Decision Making Process Model (CDMPM), and applying it in the field of housing through which sustainable housing delivery can be expected to be achieved in Nigerian urban centres. This paper essentially employed fifty literature reviews after winnowing through relevant published articles, books, conference proceedings, unpublished thesis, government reports and monographs, in order to identify all issues that relate to the application of the Model in Housing demand. The understanding of this model is expected to help to look at the process of the decision making of different consumers with different status or background by examining the factors being considered in housing demand among various alternatives, the evaluation of the chosen alternative and its effects on their social, and psychological wellbeing for the purpose of achieving the safety, comfort and conveniences of housing consumers. This could serve as a road guide for private and public housing sectors as well as housing policy makers towards sustainable housing delivery
