A Generalized Polynomial Identity Arising from Quantum Mechanics
We establish a general identity that expresses a Pfaffian of a certain matrix as a quotient of homogeneous polynomials. This identity arises in the study of weakly interacting many-body systems and its proof provides another way of realizing the equivalence of two proposed types of trial wave functions used to describe such systems. In the proof of our identity, we make use of only elementary linear algebra and combinatorics and thereby avoid use of more advanced conformal field theory in establishing the aforementioned equivalence
A 10-point Approximating Subdivision Scheme Based on Least Squares Technique
In this paper, a 10-point approximating subdivision scheme is presented. Least squares technique for fitting the polynomial of degree 9 to data is used to develop this scheme. The proposed strategy can be used to generate a family of schemes. The important characteristics of the scheme are also discussed. Graphical efficiency of the scheme is shown by applying it on different types of data

Study on the Q-Conjugacy Relations for the Janko Groups
In this paper, we consider all the Janko sporadic groups J1, J2, J3 and J4 (with orders 175560, 604800, 50232960 and 86775571046077562880, respectively) with a new concept called the markaracter- and Q-conjugacy character tables, which enables us to discuss marks and characters for a finite group on a common basis of Q-conjugacy relationships between their cyclic subgroups. Then by using GAP (Groups, Algorithms and Programming) package we calculate all their dominant classes enabling us to find all possible Q-conjugacy characters for these sporadic groups. Finally, we prove in a main theorem that all twenty six simple sporadic groups are unmatured
The effect of manganese(II) chloride as a co-catalyst on cellobiose hydrolysis in dilute aqueous sulfuric acid and acidic ionic liquid mediums
The effects of adding MnCl2 as a co-catalyst on cellobiose hydrolysis in 0.016 M aqueous H2SO4 and 0.032 M 1-(1-propylsulfonic)-3-methylimidazolium chloride acidic ionic liquid mediums were studied at 60-90 °C by measuring the glucose yields. The addition of MnCl2 produced enhancements in glucose yields in both aqueous acid mediums. The yield enhancements are highest at 60 °C and gradually decrease at higher temperatures, suggesting that a weak interaction of MnCl2 with cellobiose causes the co-catalytic effect. FT-IR studies in the solid-state suggest that MnCl2 interacts with hydroxyl groups of cellobiose without causing significant changes in the pyranose ring conformations
Do college faculty embrace Web 2.0 technology?
The authors sought to determine if Rogers\u27s Innovation Decision Process model could analyze Web 2.0 usage within the collegiate environment. The key independent variables studied in relationship to this model were gender, faculty rank, course content delivery method, and age. Chi-square nonparametric tests on the independent variables across Rogers\u27s typology revealed significant differences at p \u3c.05. The two-way analysis of variance tests between gender across Rogers\u27s typology disclosed main effects and a two-way interaction effect on the derived factor labeled effective delivery, at p \u3c.01. Gender was significant in terms of Web 2.0 usage and adoption
Implicit values behind young architects’ moral level: A case study in Malaysia
Moral principles are perpetually of immense significance in human society. Kohlberg has been recognized in the scholar world as the forerunner in identifying moral levels. Though subjective, his six levels of morality set the platform for other researchers to look deeply into it across many parameters. Later on, attempts were also made to measure morality quantitatively. Defining Issues Test (DIT) is one of the most recognized one. Studies went one step deeper with professional ethics being considered as a component of general morality. The challenge was that, while measuring ethics, a universal tool seemed to be unfair to judge different professionals. Moreover, in most cases, code of conducts, instead of morality, was the platform to measure Ethics. Construction-related Moral-judgment Test (CMT) was one of few newly developed tools to measure professional ethics, with ‘construction’ in this case being the profession. This study customized CMT, specific to architects in the context of Malaysia, but adopted Kohlberg’s moral levels as the platform to judge morality, instead of measuring ethical level on the basis of practicing codes of conducts in the profession. Investigating on a sample of 135 young architects around Malaysia selected through stratified random sampling, the study found some implicit interesting factors that emerged. It showed that working experience might be strongly correlated with increasing level of morality, but at young age, it might show a different direction in the curve
Medical errors: Disclosure styles, interpersonal forgiveness, and outcomes
Rationale: This study investigates the intrapersonal and interpersonal factors and processes that are associated with patient forgiveness of a provider in the aftermath of a harmful medical error. Objective: This study aims to examine what antecedents are most predictive of patient forgiveness and non-forgiveness, and the extent to which social-cognitive factors (i.e., fault attributions, empathy, rumination) influence the forgiveness process. Furthermore, the study evaluates the role of different disclosure styles in two different forgiveness models, and measures their respective causal outcomes. Methods: In January 2011, 318 outpatients at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in the United States were randomly assigned to three hypothetical error disclosure vignettes that operationalized verbally effective disclosures with different nonverbal disclosure styles (i.e., high nonverbal involvement, low nonverbal involvement, written disclosure vignette without nonverbal information). All patients responded to the same forgiveness-related self-report measures after having been exposed to one of the vignettes. Results: The results favored the proximity model of interpersonal forgiveness, which implies that factors more proximal in time to the act of forgiving (i.e., patient rumination and empathy for the offender) are more predictive of forgiveness and non-forgiveness than less proximal factors (e.g., relationship variables and offense-related factors such as the presence or absence of an apology). Patients\u27 fault attributions had no effect on their forgiveness across conditions. The results evidenced sizeable effects of physician nonverbal involvement-patients in the low nonverbal involvement condition perceived the error as more severe, experienced the physician\u27s apology as less sincere, were more likely to blame the physician, felt less empathy, ruminated more about the error, were less likely to forgive and more likely to avoid the physician, reported less closeness, trust, and satisfaction but higher distress, were more likely to change doctors, less compliant, and more likely to seek legal advice. Conclusion: The findings of this study imply that physician nonverbal involvement during error disclosures stimulates a healing mechanism for patients and the physician-patient relationship. Physicians who disclose a medical error in a nonverbally uninvolved way, on the other hand, carry a higher malpractice risk and are less likely to promote healthy, reconciliatory outcomes

A robust uniform B-spline collocation method for solving the generalized PHI-four equation
In this paper, we develop a numerical solution based on cubic B-spline collocation method. By applying Von-Neumann stability analysis, the proposed technique is shown to be unconditionally stable. The accuracy of the presented method is demonstrated by a test problem. The numerical results are found to be in good agreement with the exact solution
