Non-Newtonian Prandtl fluid over stretching permeable surface
An analysis is made of the velocity and temperature distribution in the flow of a viscous incompressible fluid caused by the stretching permeable surface which issues in the Prandtl fluid. Parandtl fluid is a pseudoplastic visco-inelastic non-Newtonian fluid. The governing partial differential equations are reduced to ordinary differential equations using deductive group transformation and similarity solution is derived. Numerical solutions to the reduced non-linear similarity equations are then obtained by adopting shooting method using the Nachtsheim-Swigert iteration technique. The results of the numerical solution are then presented graphically in the form of velocity and temperature profiles. The corresponding skin friction coefficient and the Nusselt number are also calculated
Enhancement of heat transfer in elastico-viscous fluid due to nanoparticles, where the fluid is impinging obliquely to the stretchable surface: A numerical study
This article addresses the two-dimensional oblique stagnation point flow of non-Newtonian fluid in the presence of nanoparticles. Constitutive equations of Walter-B fluid are employed in the mathematical development of the relevant problems. Mathematical formulation includes the Brownian motion and thermophoresis effects. The resulting nonlinear system of equations are analyzed through Chebyshev Spectral Newton Iterative Scheme (CSNIS). A comparative study of present results through tabular values has been made with the previous results in a limiting sense and an excellent agreement is noted. It is also found that in near stagnation point region, the heat transfer rate and mass diffusion flux decrease due to increase of thermophoresis effect. However, the heat transfer rate increases and mass diffusion flux decreases as the Brownian motion of the particles increases. The streamlines are drawn to capture the fluid motion
Dynamic Network Flows with Uncertain Costs belonging to Interval
This paper considers minimum cost flow problem in dynamic networks with uncertain costs. First, we present a short introduction of dynamic minimum cost flow. Then, we survey discrete and continuous dynamic minimum cost flow problems, their properties and relationships between them. After that, the minimum cost flow problem in discrete dynamic network with uncertainty in the cost vector is considered such that the arc cost can be changed within an interval. Finally, we propose an algorithm to find the optimal solution of the proposed model
Some Results on f-Simultaneous Chebyshev Approximation
Let X be a Hausdorff topological vector space and f be a real valued continuous function on X: In this paper we introduce and study the concept of fsimultaneous approximation of a nonempty subset K of X as a generalization to the problem of simultaneous approximation. Further we present some results regarding fsimultaneous approximation in the quotient space
Heat source thermoelastic problem in a hollow elliptic cylinder under time-reversal principle
The article investigates the time-reversal thermoelasticity of a hollow elliptical cylinder for determining the temperature distribution and its associated thermal stresses at a certain point using integral transform techniques by unifying classical orthogonal polynomials as the kernel. Furthermore, by considering a circle as a special kind of ellipse, it is seen that the temperature distribution and the comparative study of a circular cylinder can be derived as a special case from the present mathematical solution. The numerical results obtained are accurate enough for practical purposes
Complex solutions of the time fractional Gross-Pitaevskii (GP) equation with external potential by using a reliable method
In this article, modified (G\u27/G )-expansion method is presented to establish the exact complex solutions of the time fractional Gross-Pitaevskii (GP) equation in the sense of the conformable fractional derivative. This method is an effective method in finding exact traveling wave solutions of nonlinear evolution equations (NLEEs) in mathematical physics. The present approach has the potential to be applied to other nonlinear fractional differential equations. Based on two transformations, fractional GP equation can be converted into nonlinear ordinary differential equation of integer orders. In the end, we will discuss the solutions of the fractional GP equation with external potentials

Acid catalyzed condensation of levulinic acid with glyoxylic acid: Synthesis of 1-methyl-2,8-dioxabicyclo[3.3.0]oct-4-ene-3,7-dione
The sulfuric acid catalyzed condensation of levulinic acid with glyoxylic acid at 80 °C, for 24 h under neat conditions gives 1-methyl-2,8-dioxabicyclo[3.3.0]oct-4-ene-3,7-dione in 92% yield. Catalytic reduction of this unsaturated bis-lactone provides a facile route to produce polyester monomer 1-methyl-2,8-dioxabicyclo[3.3.0]octane-3,7-dione from renewable feedstocks
Hybrid switched gain-scheduling control for missile autopilot design
This paper presents a new hybrid switched gain-scheduling control method for missile autopilot design via dynamic output feedback. For controller design purpose, the nonlinear missile plant model is first converted to a switched linear fractional transformation system. Then, the new hybrid switched gain-scheduling autopilot is designed, which consists of a switching dynamic output-feedback linear fractional transformation controller and a supervisor enforcing a controller state reset at each switching time instant. The proposed hybrid control scheme is shown to provide a systematic yet simple framework for missile autopilot design. Specifically, the control synthesis conditions that guarantee weighted L2 stability performance are formulated in terms of a finite number of linear matrix inequalities, which can be solved effectively via convex optimization without parameter-space gridding. Furthermore, stringent controlled performance and strong robustness against parameter perturbations are achieved using this new control approach, whereas no parameter variation information is required for both controller synthesis and implementation. The advantages of the proposed design approach over existing methods will be shown through nonlinear simulations for the missile autopilot design over a wide range of operating conditions
Integrating the Principles of Socioecology and Critical Pedagogy for Health Promotion Health Literacy Interventions
While health literacy research has experienced tremendous growth in the last two decades, the field still struggles to devise interventions that lead to lasting change. Most health literacy interventions are at the individual level and focus on resolving clinician–patient communication difficulties. As a result, the interventions use a deficit model that treats health literacy as a patient problem that needs to be fixed or circumvented. We propose that public health health literacy interventions integrate the principles of socioecology and critical pedagogy to develop interventions that build capacity and empower individuals and communities. Socioecology operates on the premise that health outcome is hinged on the interplay between individuals and their environment. Critical pedagogy assumes education is inherently political, and the ultimate goal of education is social change. Integrating these two approaches will provide a useful frame in which to develop interventions that move beyond the individual level
