Acid catalyzed aldol condensations of ketones with glyoxylic acid: A simple single-step synthesis of 4-oxo-2,5-heptdienedioic acids

    No full text
The acid catalyzed condensations of ketones with glyoxylic acid at 80 °C, under neat conditions gives 4-oxo-2,5-heptdienedioic acids in 56–88% yield. The solid state photochemical dimerization of 4-oxo-2,5-heptdienedioic acid under UV light gives 2,7-dioxo-tricyclo[6.2.0.03,6]decane-4,5,9,10-tetracarboxylic acid in 90% yield. (Figure presented.)

Solution for System Of Fractional Partial Differential Equations

    Get PDF
The purpose of this article is to discuss solutions of different initial value problems (IVPs) for system of fractional differential equations. These equations appear in physical processes such as transportation and anomalous diffusion. The iteration method is successfully developed and series solution of IVPs at hand are obtained which converges to a function known as solution function of the IVPs. Graphical representation of solution of some IVPs are given using Mathematical software “MATLAB”

Analysis of a recent heat conduction model with a delay for thermoelastic interactions in an unbounded medium with a spherical cavity

In this work, we study the thermoelastic interactions in an unbounded medium with a spherical cavity in the context of a very recently proposed heat conduction model established by Quintanilla (2011). This model is a reformulation of three-phase-lag conduction model and is an alternative heat conduction theory with a single delay term. We make an attempt to study the thermoelastic interactions in an isotropic elastic medium with a spherical cavity subjected to three types of thermal and mechanical loads in the contexts of two versions of this new model. Analytical solutions for the distributions of the field variables are found out with the help of the integral transform technique. A detailed analysis of analytical results is provided by short-time approximation concept. Further, the numerical solutions of the problems are obtained by applying numerical inversion of Laplace transform. We observe significant variations in the analytical results predicted by different heat conduction models. Numerical values of field variables are also observed to show significantly different results for a particular material. Several important points related to the prediction of the new model are highlighted

Analysis of an Inventory Model with Time-dependent Deterioration and Ramp-type Demand Rate: Complete and Partial Backlogging

    Get PDF
The proposed model based on the global market strategies as for how the demand vary of the new seasonal products when they entered in the markets. The model has developed for the seasonal products or new consumer goods. The demand rate has considered Ramp-type based on the seasonal products having a time-dependent deterioration rate. The mathematical formulation of the proposed model is given. The present article consists two inventory model differ to each other as (a) in the first model stock-out situation is considered as completely backlogged; (b) in the second model partial backlogged stock-out situation is inserted. To obtain the optimal solution solved the proposed model analytically and shown the convexity of the proposed models graphically by using Mathematica 9.0. Numerical examples are given to test and verify the theoretical results. Ultimately, the sensitivity of the optimal solution with respect to major parameters with concluding remarks are discussed

Study of Transport of Nanoparticles with K-L Model Through a Stenosed Microvessels

    Get PDF
This paper studies a constitutive equation for blood with the transport of nanoparticles in a stenosed microvessel. The flow of blood through a bell-shaped stenosed micro blood vessel has been investigated with an importance of permeable walls that treats blood as non-Newtonian fluid by using K-L model. This model is more appropriate than other non-Newtonian models because K-L model involve three parameters such as plasma viscosity, yield stress and one other chemical variable while casson model involves only one parameter i.e. yield stress. In the present paper, the effective longitudinal diffusion of nanoparticles has been studied in stenosed blood vessel considering the contribution of molecular and convective diffusion based on Taylor\u27s theory. Also we analyze the flow characteristics of blood such as velocity, flow rate and effective diffusion during a nanoparticle assisted drug delivery process through a stenosed permeable microvessel. An explicit expression has been derived for velocity, flow rate and effective diffusion of nanoparticles depending non-linearly on rheological parameter, stenosis height and plasma viscosity. It has been shown that for a given values of rheological parameter, stenosis height and plasma viscosity, fluid velocity is maximum at the central axis and flow rate is minimum at the axis of symmetry. Also it has concluded that the effective diffusion of nanoparticles is maximum at the vessel walls and minimum at the axis of symmetry

Another characterization of warped product submanifolds of nearly cosymplectic manifolds

    Get PDF
In this paper, we study warped product pseudo-slant submanifolds of nearly cosymplectic manifolds. First, we derive the integrability conditions of the distributions and then, we investigate the geometry of the leaves of both distributions. Also, we prove a characterization theorem for a pseudo-slant submanifold to be locally a warped product manifold

Properties of Quantum Dots and Their Biological Applications

    No full text
Confined electrons are found everywhere in nature in the form of atoms in which the Coulomb attraction of the nucleus confines the orbiting electrons. Nanotechnology has provided us an alternative way to confine electrons by means of an artificial confining potential. Quantum dots are typical examples that represent nanoscale systems made of a few confined electrons. There are many types of quantum dots, ranging from self-assembled to lithographically engineered semiconductor quantum dots. In this work we mostly describe electrostatically confined semiconductor quantum dots where the electrostatic confining potential is generated by external electrodes, doping, strain, or other factors. The main focus of this contribution is on low-dimensional nanodot systems from the perspective of their unique electronic and/or magnetic properties at the nanoscale range. Nanoscale quantum dot systems have gained tremendous attention during the last decades due to their unique electro-optical properties. They have had a significant impact on research in many fields across the physical, chemical, and biological sciences. Some of their properties make them particularly attractive for biological applications. Therefore, in this contribution, we also provide a brief overview of a few concepts and approaches that are needed to understand their unique electro-optical properties and explain possible biological applications

Vortical structures for nanomagnetic memory induced by dipole-dipole interaction in monolayer disks

    No full text
It is well known that magnetic domains in nanodisks can be used as storage units for computer memory. Using two quantum simulation approaches, we show here that spin vortices on magnetic monolayer nanodisks, which are chirality-free, can be induced by dipole-dipole interaction (DDI) on the disk-plane. When DDI is sufficiently strong, vortical and anti-vortical multi-domain textures can be generated simultaneously. Especially, a spin vortex can be easily created and deleted through either external magnetic or electrical signals, making them ideal to be used in nanomagnetic memory and logical devices. We demonstrate these properties in our simulations
