    Fractional order thermoelastic thick circular plate with two temperatures in frequency domain

    The present investigation is concerned with thermomechanical interactions in the fractional theory of thermoelasticity for a homogeneous isotropic thick circular plate in the light of two-temperature thermoelasticity theory in frequency domain. The upper and lower surfaces of the thick plate are traction free and subjected to an axisymmetric heat supply. The solution is found by using Hankel transform technique and a direct approach without the use of potential functions. The analytical expressions of displacement components, stresses, conductive temperature, temperature change and cubic dilatation are computed in transformed domain. Numerical inversion technique has been applied to obtain the results in the physical domain. Numerically simulated results are depicted graphically. The effect of fractional parameter has been shown by taking different values on the components of stress, cubic dilatation and displacement

    Global Range Restricted GMRES for Linear Systems with Multiple Right Hand Sides

    This work concerns the solution of non-symmetric, sparse linear systems with multiple right hand sides by iterative methods. Herein a global version of the range restricted generalized minimal residual method (RRGMRES) is proposed for solving this sort of problems. Numerical results confirm that this new algorithm is applicable

    Batch arrival bulk service queue with unreliable server, second optional service, two different vacations and restricted admissibility policy

    This paper is concerned with batch arrival queue with an additional second optional service to a batch of customers with dissimilar service rate where the idea of restricted admissibility of arriving batch of customers is also introduced. The server may take two different vacations (i) Emergency vacation-during service the server may go for vacation to an emergency call and after completion of the vacation, the server continues the remaining service to a batch of customers. (ii) Bernoulli vacation-after completion of first essential or second optional service, the server may take a vacation or may remain in the system to serve the next unit, if any. While the server is functioning with first essential or second optional service, it may break off for a short period of time. As a result of breakdown, a batch of customers, either in first essential or second optional service is interrupted. The service channel will be sent to repair process immediately. The repair process presumed to be general distribution. Here, we assumed that the customers just being served before server breakdown wait for the server to complete its remaining service after the completion of the repair process. We derived the queue size distribution at a random epoch and at a departure epoch under the steady state condition. Moreover, various system performance measures, the mean queue size and the average waiting time in the queue have been obtained explicitly. Some particular cases and special cases are determined. A numerical result is also introduced

    Stability of delayed virus infection model with a general incidence rate and adaptive immune response

    We present the dynamical behaviors of a virus infection model with general infection rate, immune responses and two intracellular delays which describe the interactions of the HIV virus, target cells, CTL cells and antibodies within host. Three factors are incorporated in this model: (1) the intrinsic growth rate of uninfected cells, (2) a nonlinear incidence rate function considering both virus-tocell infection and cell-to-cell transmission, and (3) a nonlinear productivity and removal function. By the method of Lyapunov functionals and LaSalle’s invariance principle, we show that the global dynamics of the model is determined by the reproductive numbers for viral infection R0, for antibody immune response R1, for CTL immune response R2, for CTL immune competition R3 and for antibody immune competition R4. The numerical simulations are given to illustrate our theoretical results

    An Interpolation Process on the Roots of Ultraspherical Polynomials

    The paper is devoted to studying a Pál-type interpolation problem on the roots of Ultraspherical polynomials of degree n-1 with parameter k+1 on the closed interval -1 to 1. The aim of this paper is to find a unique interpolatory polynomial of degree at most m equal to 2n+2k+1 satisfying the interpolatory conditions that is, function values of the polynomial of degree m at the zeros of the function values of the ultraspherical polynomials and the first derivative values of the polynomial of degree m at the zeros of the first derivative values of the ultraspherical polynomials.We will use the special type of Hermite-boundary conditions at the end points of interval -1 to 1, which are defined by, the lth derivative of the polynomial of degree m at the zeros of the boundary point 1, where l goes from 0 to k+1 and the lth derivative of the polynomial of degree m at the zeros of the boundary point -1, where l goes from 0 to k+2. Further, we will prove the existence,uniqueness and explicit representation of the interpolatory polynomial. For, the prove of order of convergence of the interpolatory polynomial, we will prove the order of convergence of the first derivative of the first kind fundamental polynomials and order of convergence of the first derivative of the second kind fundamental polynomials

    Supplementation of Lactobacillus plantarum Improves Markers of Metabolic Dysfunction Induced by a High Fat Diet

    Obesity is a prevalent chronic condition in many developed and developing nations that raises the risk for developing heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. Previous studies have shown that consuming particular probiotic strains of Lactobacillus is associated with improvement in the obese and diabetic phenotype; however, the mechanisms of these beneficial effects are not well understood. In this study, C57BL/6J male mice were fed a lard-based high fat diet for 15 weeks with Lactobacillus plantarum supplementation NCIMB8826 (Lp) between weeks 10 and 15 (n = 10 per group). Systemic metabolic effects of supplementation were analyzed by NMR metabolomics, protein expression assays, gene transcript quantification, and 16S rRNA marker gene sequencing. Body and organ weights were not significantly different with Lp supplementation, and no microbiota community structure changes were observed in the cecum; however, L. plantarum numbers were increased in the treatment group according to culture-based and 16S rRNA gene quantification. Significant differences in metabolite and protein concentrations (serum, liver, and colon), gene expression (ileum and adipose), and cytokines (colon) were observed between groups with increases in the gene expression of tight junction proteins in the ileum and cecum and improvement of some markers of glucose homeostasis in blood and tissue with Lp supplementation. These results indicate Lp supplementation impacts systemic metabolism and immune signaling before phenotypic changes and without large-scale changes to the microbiome. This study supports the notion that Lp is a beneficial probiotic, even in the context of a high fat diet

    Cognitive rigidity explains the relationship between religious fundamentalism and insanity defence attitudes

    Religious fundamentalism is related to both prejudice and punitiveness. Wulff\u27s theory of religion suggests that fundamentalism is associated with beliefs in the inclusion of transcendence and literal interpretation of religious beliefs and experiences. The current research examines the relationship between fundamentalism and punitive insanity defence attitudes with the goal of specifically identifying which dimension of Wulff’s theory better explains the relationship. Results suggest that fundamentalism predicts punitive attitudes toward the insanity defence and that this is primarily explained by a less symbolic (or more literal) interpretation of religious beliefs and experiences. This association likely captures the literal interpretation of religious teachings on mental illness and skepticism of insanity. Implications are discussed
