Numerical Solution of 3rd order ODE Using FDM: On a Moving Surface in MHD Flow of Sisko Fluid

    Get PDF
A Similarity group theoretical technique is used to transform the governing nonlinear partial differential equations of two dimensional MHD boundary layer flow of Sisko fluid into nonlinear ordinary differential equations. Then the resulting third order nonlinear ordinary differential equation with corresponding boundary conditions is linearised by Quasi linearization method. Numerical solution of the linearised third order ODE is obtained using Finite Difference method (FDM). Graphical presentation of the solution is given

An (S - 1; S) Inventory System with Negative Arrivals and Multiple Vacations

    Get PDF
In this paper, we consider a continuous review one-to-one ordering policy inventory system with multiple vacations and negative customers. The maximum storage capacity is S. The customers arrive according to a Poisson process with finite waiting hall. There are two types of customers: ordinary and negative. An ordinary customer, on arrival, joins the queue and the negative customer does not join the queue and takes away any one of the waiting customers. When the waiting hall is full, the arriving primary customer is considered to be lost. The service time and lead time are assumed to have independent exponential distribution. When the inventory becomes empty, the server takes a vacation and the vacation duration is exponentially distributed. The stationary distribution of the number of customers in the waiting hall, the inventory level and the server status for the steady state case. Some system performance measures and numerical illustrations are discussed

An ADMM-Factorization Algorithm for Low Rank Matrix Completion

    Get PDF
In this paper, we propose an Alternating Direction Method of Multipliers (ADMM) based algorithm that is taking advantage of factorization for the fixed rank matrix completion problem. The convergence of the proposed algorithm to the KKT point is discussed. Finally, on several classes of test problems, its efficiency is compared with several efficient algorithms from the literature

    Get PDF
In this current study, the most apparent aspect is to submit a new block sequence space. We investigate its topological properties and inclusion relations. Moreover, we consider the problem of finding the norm of certain matrix operators from l_p into this space and apply our results to Copson and Hilbert matrices

MHD Boundary Layer Flow and Heat Transfer to Sisko Nanofluid Past a Nonlinearly Stretching Sheet with Radiation

    Get PDF
The steady flow of a Sisko fluid model in the presence of nanoparticles is studied. The governing partial differential equations are converted to a set of coupled non-linear ordinary differential equations by using suitable similarity transformations. Numerical solutions for the coupled non-linear ordinary differential equations are carried out by a variational finite element method. A suitable comparison has been made with previously published results in the literature as a limiting case of the considered problem. The comparison confirmed an excellent agreement. The results for the local Nusselt number are tabulated and discussed. Behavior of essential physical parameters are presented graphically and discussed for velocity, temperature and nanoparticle volume fraction

Joule Heat Parameter Effects on Unsteady MHD flow Over a Stretching Sheet with Viscous Dissipation and Heat source

    Get PDF
In the present investigation, we studied the effects of heat source and Joule heating parameter on unsteady magneto-hydro-dynamic and heat transfer of a fluid flow over a radiating stretching sheet. The governing partial differential equations of nonlinear with boundary conditions are solved numerically by implicit finite difference method with Gauss Seidel iteration scheme. The obtained numerical solutions of velocity and temperature profiles are discussed and represented graphically. The effects of various parameters on the velocity and temperature profiles are shown graphically and numerical values of physical quantities such as the skin friction coefficient and the local Nusselt number are presented in tabular form

MHD Flow of Tangent Hyperbolic Nanofluid over an Inclined Sheet with Effects of Thermal Radiation and Heat Source/Sink

    Get PDF
This article presents the effect of thermal radiation on MHD boundary layer flow of tangent hyperbolic fluid with nanoparticles past an inclined stretching sheet with heat source/sink and convective boundary condition. Condition of zero normal flux of nanoparticles at the wall is used for the concentration boundary condition, which is the current topic that have yet to be studied extensively. The partial differential systems are reduced to ordinary differential systems by using appropriate similarity transformations. The reduced systems are solved numerically by Runge-Kutta fourth order method with shooting technique. The velocity, temperature and nanoparticle volume fraction profiles are discussed for different physical parameters. As well as the Skin friction coefficient, Nusselt number and Sherwood numbers have discussed in detail and presented through graphically. It is found that the thermal radiation enhances the effective thermal diffusivity and the temperature rises. It is also observed that the buoyancy parameter strengthens the velocity field, showing a decreasing behavior of temperature and nanoparticle volume fraction profiles

Numerical Solution of MHD Bioconvection in a Porous Square Cavity due to Oxytactic Microorganisms

    Get PDF
The present paper investigates the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) bioconvection flow in a porous square cavity filled with oxytactic microorganism. The bioconvection flow and heat transfer in porous media is formulated using Darcy model of Boussinesq approximation. Finite element method based on Galerkin weighted residual scheme is used to solve the governing partial differential equations. The computational numerical results are illustrated in the form of streamlines, isotherms, isoconcentrations of oxygen and microorganisms, average Nusselt number and average Sherwood number. In the present study the effects of key parameters such as bioconvection Rayleigh number (Rb), Rayleigh number (Ra), Peclet number (Pe) magnetic field parameter (M) and Lewis number (Le) are presented and analyzed

Brownian Motion and Thermophoresis Effects on Casson Nanofluid Over a Chemically Reacting Stretching Sheet with Inclined Magnetic Field

    Get PDF
The contemporary study explores the impact of thermophoresis and Brownian motion on two-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic boundary layer flow of Casson nanofluid over a chemically reacting stretching sheet. To control the heat and mass transport phenomena we also included the thermophoresis diffusion coefficient, Brownian motion parameter, and thermal radiation. The regular physical governing systems of partial differential equations are transmogrifying into ordinary differential equations. The transmogrifying governing equations are checked numerically by using Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg method. The numerical solutions for heterogeneous governing parameters such as Schmidt number, Joule heating parameter, and permeability parameter, chemical reaction parameters on velocity, temperature, and concentration profiles were presented. Numerical and Graphical results have described the parameters of concentration entering into the modeled problems. The analyzed numerical values of skin friction coefficient, Nusselt and Sherwood numbers also determined and chat about in the formal property of several assorted parameters
