Development of Miniaturized Autonomous and Versatile Gas Chromatograph for Volatile Organic Compounds monitoring using Nano-Gravimetric-Detector.
No full textInternational audienceEnvironmental monitoring and air quality survey during long-term field campaign tests, especially in low-accessibility or extreme environments, requires robust, standalone and autonomous analyzer with low gas consumption and minimal human intervention. The current states of art emphasize the need to develop miniaturized GC based on novel detectors that offers the best compromise between carrier gas consumption, detection limits and panel of measured VOCs. This work presents the development and optimization of MAVERIC, a miniaturized and autonomous Gas Chromatograph system coupled to an innovative Nano Gravimetric Detector (NGD) based on NEMS (nano-electromechanical-system) resonator. A homemade software is developed to control the instrument as well as the electronics modules. The system operates at low flow rate (2 mL.min−1) of helium used as carrier gas, and allowsthe measurements of VOCs from C6 to C10 in less than 30 minutes. A mixture of isoprene, benzene, toluene and α-pinene is used to optimize experimental conditions. Under optimal conditions, the detection limit, the stability, the repeatability and the linearity of the analytical system are assessed.A detection limit of sub-ppb to few ppt level was determined for C9 and C6 compounds, respectively.The lowest detection limit corresponds to the highest molecular weight compounds due to NGDsensitivity at ambient temperature. The system is standalone, portable, robust and equipped with 4Gconnection that allows remote control of the instrument and easy data export. It is very adapted for along period field campaign test, environmental monitoring and air quality survey outdoors and in low-accessibility or extreme environments

No full textInternational audienceLe caractère inédit d’une concertation citoyenne telle que déployée par la convention citoyenne sur la fin de vie impulsée en France en 2022 est saisi grâce au regard du psychologue social, intégré comme chercheur observateur des dialogues menées par les 184 conventionnalistes réunis. Rappelant les modalités de gouvernance et les choix d’animation de la convention, alternant l’ajustement au fil de l’eau à un professionnalisme des animateurs, les propos citoyens directement pris en note au sein de groupes restreints de travail, sont rapportés pour mettre en valeur leur spécificité. Suivant des hypothèses scientifiques validées quant au principe de constructibilité et d’imprévisibilité du raisonnement collectif tenu par les citoyens, le chapitre s’apparente davantage néanmoins à un témoignage au regard du type de données recueillies. L’étude des propos sur les quatre sessions centrales dédiées à la délibération et à la restitution des raisonnements des citoyens déploie trois focales essentielles pour reconnaitre l’originalité du processus de pensée collective cadré par le conseil économique et social de l’environnement. En premier, la question des mineurs fort contrée par la société quant à une possibilité d’accès à une aide à mourir, ensuite l’introduction de la notion d’invivabilité faisant le pendant à celle d’incurabilité contenue dans la loi française, enfin la relecture des parcours de soins révisés par les citoyens en introduisant la détresse, le point de bascule de la demande et l’obligation d’écoute, illustrent à quel point la pensée collective des citoyens a dépassé, parfois, la hauteur et l’ambition sanitaire des soignants eux-mêmes. Inédite quant à la profondeur des enjeux humains engagés autour du mourir, la genèse de cette convention donne à penser plus que simplement à connaître en matière de fin de vie, en refusant la facilité au profit de la nuance et de la complexité, ce que le rapport même issu de la convention aura eu du mal à révéler. La polarité effective d’opinions des conventionnalistes accouche d’un dépassement des clivages qui devrait inspirer, pour lever les tumultes et rebonds législatifs entourant actuellement la tâche engagée de transformation de la loi française

No full textInternational audienceA study of the lipidome and proteome was performed on milk fat globule membranes (MFGM) originating from milk samples from high (HL) and low (LL) lipolysis groups of cows. Combined univariate and multivariate statistical analyses proposed a set of variables highly associated to contrasted samples with regard to milk lipolysis. Milk from HL group were related to 4 phosphatidylinositols, 8 phosphatidylcholines, 1 sphingomyelin and 27 proteins, among them the phosphatidylcholine/phosphatidylethanolamine ratio and ORM1 may contribute to the membrane remodeling of the MFGM. The abundance of CP, CHI3L1, NECTIN2, A2M were strongly positively correlated with HL. Conversely, 3 phosphatidylinositols, 1 phosphatidylcholine and 2 phosphatidylethanolamines were assigned to the LL group. The HL group in cows is associated with a specific MFGM phospholipids and proteins profile, suggesting an impact on membrane fluidity and lipid rafts composition intervening in LPL anchoring and activation, as well as on pro-inflammatory lipids and proteins
Natural Disasters and Bank Liquidity Creation in Sub-Saharan African Countries: Evidence from Banks Panel Data
No full textInternational audienceThis paper investigates the effects of natural disasters on bank liquidity creation in sub-Saharan African during the period 1988-2018. Using bank-level data from more than 30 countries, we find that natural disasters affect negatively the liquidity creation in the region. The cumulative effect over the three years following a disaster is economically significant, amounting to a total reduction of 4% in the average liquidity generated. This impact is mainly channeled through the asset-side activities of banks. We also find heterogeneous impact of natural disasters on bank liquidity creation based on the size of banks, the magnitude of disasters and the income level of countries. Moreover, these effects are mainly observed when disasters strike on a large-scale. On the contrary, there is no significant difference depending on whether or not the disaster is climatic in origin. Additional tests show that foreign ownership of banks as well as monetary policy change do not qualitatively alter our primary findings. These results support bank regulation policies taking into the specificities of banks operating in environments prone to frequent natural disasters. Specifically, we recommend that central banks implement targeted regulatory measures such as stress-testing or resilience programs. As natural disasters are likely to increase in the coming years due to climate change, we suggest that microprudential policies be further strengthened and adapted to incorporate climate change considerations
