Measurement of the production cross section of prompt baryons in pPb collisions at TeV
No full textInternational audienceThe transverse momentum () differential production cross section of the promptly-produced charm-strange baryon (and its charge conjugate ) is measured at midrapidity via its hadronic decay into in pPb collisions at a centre-of-mass energy per nucleonnucleon collision TeV with the ALICE detector at the LHC. The nuclear modification factor (), calculated from the cross sections in pp and pPb collisions, is presented and compared with the of baryons. The ratios between the -differential production cross section of baryons and those of mesons and baryons are also reported and compared with results at forward and backward rapidity from the LHCb Collaboration. The measurements of the production cross section of prompt baryons are compared with a model based on perturbative QCD calculations of charm-quark production cross sections, which includes only cold nuclear matter effects in pPb collisions, and underestimates the measurement by a factor of about 50. This discrepancy is reduced when the data is compared with a model in which hadronisation is implemented via quark coalescence. The -integrated cross section of prompt -baryon production at midrapidity extrapolated down to = 0 is also reported. These measurements offer insights and constraints for theoretical calculations of the hadronisation process. Additionally, they provide inputs for the calculation of the charm production cross section in pPb collisions at midrapidity

Plant evenness improves forage mineral content in semi-natural grasslands
No full textInternational audienceCompared to intensive grasslands, semi-natural grasslands host species-rich and functionally diversified plant communities, and thus represent habitats of high conservation interest. Less is known about their ability to provide high-quality forage fitting livestock requirements regarding mineral content in particular, and thus contribute to livestock health. We address this question by measuring forage macro- and micro-mineral content across a range of semi-natural grassland types in nine locations in France and compare it to standards required for cattle health. We also developed a multi-criteria method using forage mineral concentrations and their recommended ranges to determine general mineral concentration quality (MinQ) in forage. We investigated if forage mineral content and MinQ was related to plant community composition, soil characteristics, and land-use intensity of semi-natural grassland forages. Good forage quality in terms of mineral content was found, matching the reference values, in the majority of the extensively managed semi-natural grasslands studied. Plant species evenness was positively correlated with MinQ. The forage mineral quality varied depending on the community weighted mean of the specific leaf area (SLACWM) and the leaf dry matter content (LDMCCWM). It increased with increasing SLACWM and decreased with increasing LDMCCWM. The results demonstrate that a good compatibility between plant evenness and forage mineral quality can be obtained in semi-natural grasslands which suggests that the continued management of these habitats can offer agronomic services as well as conservation values
Effective Darmon's program for the generalised Fermat equation
No full textWe follow the ideas of Darmon's program for solving infinite families of generalised Fermat equations of signatures and , where is a fixed prime, and is varying. We do so by introducing a common framework for both signatures, allowing for a uniform treatment for the two families of equations. We analyse in detail the geometry of Frey hyperelliptic curves, and the reduction types of the Néron models of their Jacobians. We then study the associated 2-dimensional Galois representations: modularity, irreducibility, and level lowering. No full textInternational audienceCet ouvrage s’intéresse au rôle joué par l’émergence du livre imprimé dans les pratiques pédagogiques à la Renaissance. Il scrute également la persistance de l’écriture manuscrite ou son développement sous de nouvelles formes. Une vingtaine de chercheurs explore ainsi des écrits de maîtres des xve et xvie siècles, des notes de cours ou annotations d’élèves et étudiants. La première partie mène l’enquête à partir des fonds précieux de la Bibliothèque Humaniste de Sélestat et de Beatus Rhenanus. Puis la réflexion s’ouvre à des pédagogues de l’Europe entière, qui se consacrent à l’enseignement des studia humanitatis, mais aussi de l’équitation ou de la danse.
