Loss‐averse preferences and portfolio choices: An extension
International audienceIn this paper we generalise existing models of loss‐averse preferences. This extension clarifies the impact of stochastic changes in risk on the optimal degree of risk taking. Our more general model highlights an intuitive link between the literature on loss‐averse behaviours and the notions of prudence and temperance recently introduced in the literature. We also stress the link between our approach and the use of VaR and CVaR as risk measures

Modélisation Graphique pour le Pronostic Robuste de Pile à Combustible à Membrane Echangeuse de Proton
The fuel cell (FC) is at present the alternative solution to the fossil fuels the most promising. It is however advisable to optimize it from a technical and financial point of view to see them appearing on the market for stationary and automobile applications. For that purpose, the improvement of the reliability and the availability of the FC system requires the implementation of algorithms capable not only of detecting and of identifying as soon as possible the failuresbut also of estimating in real time the state of health and forecasting of its remaining useful life. The methods of detection and isolation of faults (FDI) well developed in the literature have a major inconvenience owed mainly to the fact that they base themselves on the symptom of appearance of a failure. On the other hand, the prognostic consists in the estimation of the operating time before failure of a system and the risk of existence or later appearance of a failure. The methods of prognostics based on a physical model offer generally precise results once they do not requiring either learning or expertise of the operator. However, the problem for a FC system lies in the coupling of several phenomena (electrochemical, electric, thermodynamic), the uncertainty of the parameters of the model and the low instrumentationof the core of the fuel cell stack. In the thesis, we use uncertain models based on the Bond Graph tool well adapted to the multidisciplinary and multiphysical aspect of the FC. Concretely, the parameters uncertainties are integrated in the Bond Graph elements to generate a robust model (based on Bond Graphs LFT - Linear Fractional Transformation) of evolution of the powers (associated with the health of the FC). These dynamical models robust to parameters uncertainties are used for the detection of the beginning of the aging and the estimation of the degradation of the FC based on the causal and structural properties of the model. The generated model of degradation is used by an extended Kalman filter which allows theestimation of the state of health and the dynamics of the aging for any operating condition (of temperature, current and pressure). Furthermore, this algorithm allows to estimate the uncertainty which is used by the Bond Graph LFT model as well as by an Inverse First Order Reliability Method for the prediction of the remaining useful life and the inherent uncertainty. The global method was validated on various sets of data :– Constant load– µ-CHP profile (Co-generation of Heat and Power)– Automotive profileAll the algorithms was integrated into a demonstrator developed under Matlab Guide. This one also allows the control by inversion of an EMR model (Energetic Macroscopic Representation) with time-varying parameters, robust to the aging (based on the state of health estimation).La pile à combustible (PàC) est actuellement la solution alternative aux énergies fossiles la plus prometteuse.

Self-normalization techniques for streaming confident regression
We consider, in a generic streaming regression setting, the problem of building a confidence interval (and distribution) on the next observation based on past observed data. The observations given to the learner are of the form (x, y) with y = f (x) + ξ, where x can have arbitrary dependency on the past observations, f is unknown and the noise ξ is sub-Gaussian conditionally on the past observations. Further, the observations are assumed to come from some external filtering process making the number of observations itself a random stopping time. In this challenging scenario that captures a large class of processes with non-anticipative dependencies, we study the ordinary, ridge, and kernel least-squares estimates and provide confidence intervals based on self-normalized vector-valued martingale techniques, applied to the estimation of the mean and of the variance. We then discuss how these adaptive confidence intervals can be used in order to detect a possible model mismatch as well as to estimate the future (self-information, quadratic, or transportation) loss of the learner at a next step
A Metric Learning Approach for Graph-Based Label Propagation
International audienceThe efficiency of graph-based semi-supervised algorithms depends on the graph of instances on which they are applied. The instances are often in a vectorial form before a graph linking them is built. The construction of the graph relies on a metric over the vectorial space that help define the weight of the connection between entities. The classic choice for this metric is usually a distance measure or a similarity measure based on the euclidean norm. We claim that in some cases the euclidean norm on the initial vectorial space might not be the more appropriate to solve the task efficiently. We propose an algorithm that aims at learning the most appropriate vectorial representation for building a graph on which the task at hand is solved efficiently
