Executing and Verifying Higher-Order Functional-Imperative Programs in Maude
(to appear)International audienceWe incorporate higher-order functions and state monads in Maude, thereby embedding a higher-order functional language with imperative features in the Maude framework. We illustrate, via simple programs in the resulting language: the concrete and symbolic execution of programs; their verification with respect to properties expressed in Reachability Logic, a language-parametric generalisation of Hoare Logic; and the verification of program-equivalence properties. Our approach is proved sound and is implemented in Full Maude by taking advantage of its reflective features and module system
Academic entrepreneurship and institutional change in historical perspective
International audienceThis article provides a historical perspective on academic entrepreneurship and its role in institutional change, and serves as an introduction to a special issue devoted to the subject. Unlike approaches that define academic entrepreneurship narrowly as the commercialization of academic research, we argue that historical research and reasoning justify a broader conceptualization focused on the pursuit of future forms of value in academic knowledge production, application, and transmission. Understood in this way, academic entrepreneurship has long been a significant driver of institutional change, not only within the academic world but also in shaping the organization of markets and states. The article develops this argument in three major sections. First, it draws out themes implicit within the historiography of science and technology that highlight the role of entrepreneurship in reshaping academia and its relationship to society. Second, it establishes conceptual foundations for more explicitly examining the processes by which academic entrepreneurship acted as a driver of institutional change. Finally, it synthesizes the findings of the articles in the special issue pertaining to these entrepreneurial processes. The article concludes by arguing for the role of history in rethinking academic entrepreneurship in our own time, and by outlining directions for further research

Whole-brain high-resolution structural connectome: inter-subject validation and application to the anatomical segmentation of the striatum
International audienceThe present study describes extraction of high-resolution structural connectome (HRSC) in 99 healthy subjects, acquired and made available by the Human Connectome Project. Single subject connectomes were then registered to the common surface space to allow assessment of inter-individual reproducibility of this novel technique using a leave-one-out approach. The anatomic relevance of the surface-based connectome was examined via a clustering algorithm, which identified anatomic subdivisions within the striatum. The connectivity of these striatal subdivisions were then mapped on the cortical and other subcortical surfaces. Findings demonstrate that HRSC analysis is robust across individuals and accurately models the actual underlying brain networks related to the striatum. This suggests that this method has the potential to model and characterize the healthy whole-brain structural network at high anatomic resolution

A Multi-Agent Advanced Traveler Information System for Optimal Trip Planning in a Co-Modal Framework
International audienceWe present an advanced traveler information system (ATIS) for public and private transportation, including vehicle sharing and pooling services. The ATIS uses an agent-based architecture and multi-objective optimization to answer trip planning requests from multiple users in a co-modal setting, considering vehicle preferences and conflicting criteria. At each set of users' requests, the transportation network is represented by a co-modal graph that allows decomposing the trip planning problem into smaller tasks: the shortest routes between the network nodes are determined and then combined to obtain possible itineraries. Using multi-objective optimization, the set of user-vehicle-route combinations according to the users' preferences is determined, ranking all possible route agents' coalitions. The ATIS is tested for the real case study of the Lille metropolitan area (Nord Pas de Calais, France)
Trajectories Comparing Based on Matching and Distance Evaluation Within Stiefel and Grassmann Manifolds
International audienceIn this paper, we are interested in comparing human trajectories using skeleton information provided by a consumer RGB-D sensor. In fact, 3D human joints given by skeletons offer an important information for human motion analysis. In this context, the use of manifolds has grown considerably in the computer vision community in recent years. The main contribution of this study resides in working jointly with two manifolds. The matching of the trajectories is performed in Stiefel manifold and dissimilarity measure is carried out in Grassmann manifold. Indeed, trajectories of motions are provided by the projection in the Stiefel manifold. Then, the Stiefel distance is used within the dynamic time warping in order to define the appropriate matching between a reference trajectory and a test one. This allows avoiding that the rotation within the motion will be ignored, as it is the case with the Grassmann manifold. Then, the dissimilarity is evaluated using the Grassmann distance to compare motions while being invariant against rotation. Realized experiments on standard challenging datasets prove that the proposed method, for the comparison of human trajectories with different sizes, performs accurately compared to existing manifold-based methods
