During the second half of the twentieth century, a time that has been noticeable by rapid urbanization of societies, urban environments have become diminished and dysfunctional. Particularly in the practice of forming urban space and in addition, the design of buildings has been allowed to be bloomed, with the lack of both social and environmental responsibility have turned into revolting influences of the plot. With regards to the Urban Environment, sociological consequences will undermine the amenity value of the social environment if the community and the end user are not satisfied by the incompetence to meet the cultural needs. The absence of cultural perception and environmental ethos proposed by the contemporary buildings and urban landscapes, obviously through ignoring the approaching depletion of natural resources. Architects and urban designers should not disregard signs of global stress that are of social and ecological major consequence. Therefore this paper aims to study the urban environment within architecture and urban design. Based on scientific methodology, the paper reviews the contemporary literature of the environmental goals for the new world through analysing current contemporary work and illustrating the environmental elements in shaping the urban landscape. Finally, the one of the important conclusion is that the Humanistic and environmental resource elements should manage innovative powers in architecture and in shaping the urban landscape

This qualitative paper investigates a new method of architectural education in architecture studio monitoring in the field of brick tilling. It covered a background to the related fields based on art and design methods, which have been used in Iran dating back thousands of years until present. As a research methodology, a deep observation on conventional method of carpet-weaving workshops, shaped the first steps of this article. In this method, the overall plan that includes a floral carpet to ranges of square pixels and color finds their own characteristics as paint, rows and columns. In these studios, someone took the coded map and sang respectively, row after row to be applied by others. This paper aimed to apply similar mix methods of coding by using songs for tiling the bricks. Iranian architecture students covered the scope of study in three different phases. The method of “Ava Chideman” is derived from the weaving technique and the combination of sounds and installation of tile works, which its results have been analyzed in this paper. Researcher believed this paper would help current and future designers and researchers. Additionally, this methodology aims to minimize the expert\u27s role to produce safe and vernacular built forms and economical housing, while trying not to compromise on quality and freedom of local needs

    Get PDF
Architecture is a profession that men have dominated for centuries, while the transmission model of education has been the common basis for architectural education. In Egypt, architectural education continues to be masculine despite the increase in the number of female students enrolled in architectural programs. In such a type of education, the studio is the venue where concepts and building competencies are transformed. Therefore, this research paper investigates the impact of gender inequality on architectural education by surveying the educational process in the studio among male and female students at Egyptian universities. By exploring the actual difficulties related to gender that face architectural education in Egypt, the research aims to enhance the quality of the educational process for architecture students in general, and help them to equally qualify for the profession. This in turn should raise awareness for all the participants in the educational process in order to create a better educational environment for architecture students with special regard to gender sensitivity

Air and Space Navigation in the international public law

    No full text
There are legal agreements and rules governing air and space navigation that have been adopted and approved in several special treaties and protocols. Until the beginning of the twentieth century, the atmosphere did not arouse many interests. However, the situation soon changed, as the atmosphere, like the sea, became a source of danger to the safety of the state, an area to preserve its security and a way to communicate with other civilizations and peoples. Therefore, several international conferences were held on air regulation and the uses of it, the first of which was the Paris Conference 1919 and the last one the Chicago Conference 1944. Among the various rulings issued by those conferences, in addition to some opinions and hundreds of bilateral aviation agreements, consisted of what is known as the Air Law. This study addresses the sovereignty and the five principles of air navigation. In addition to the air transport agreements. This research focused on the United Nations Convention on Space Activities and the most basic important principles, which are: freedom to explore space and the moon and the rest of the planets, the Prohibition of national ownership of space, and the use of space for peaceful ends and for the benefit of all humanity

THE POLITICS OF LAND-USE CONVERSION IN THE PERI-URBAN AREAS OF THE EGYPTIAN CITIES

Linkages of rural-urban structures, in both degrees of intensity and typology, are ever changing and consequently changing the interface of the Egyptian urban setting. The dynamics of the rural-urban interrelationships constantly generate different types of powers that have been manipulating the pattern of urban growth as much as articulating distortion and imbalances of the entire urban system. The attributes of the system inputs, for example the nature of land-use policy and tools, determine to a far extent the quality of the outputs that could be epitomized in the accomplishment of the developmental national objectives. On the other hand, expanding the comprehension of the socially and economically-influencing attributes operating in the urban-rural setting, is pivotal in reformulating system inputs that may guarantee a better chance of quality outputs. The objective of this paper is to contribute to the understanding of those influencing attributes and powers operating on the Egyptian rural-urban setting. This attributes underpin the conversion of scarce agricultural-land into urban uses in the peri-urban areas of the Egyptian Metropolitans and large-and-intermediate-size cities. Towards achieving this objective, the research investigates the mechanism of conversion and the nature of the process\u27 stimulators. The employed methodology depended on triple-tire paths: a) repetitive site visits to the peri-urban areas of South-East Alexandria, namely Almadara-Alqebliya and Abeis spanned from January to August 2009. b) Interviews with stakeholders: local residents, local officials, and urban scholars took place in the same time period, and c) desktop review of multiple literatures addressing the subject under investigation. The paper poses and attempts to answer the question of whether there is a potential change in the pattern, pace, and intensity of the agro-land conversion to other uses with the current social, economic, and urban policy context. Answer to this question is meant to constitute a ground for research in the future
