THE ROLE OF THEME PARKS IN CREATING SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
Theme parks offer various types of entertainment that compete in both local and international markets. They include attractions, rides, arcade games, souvenir shops, and restaurants. Over the years, the industry has been growing due to the increasing tourism rates. Designing a project like an indoor theme park would increase tourism rates, leading to a boost in the country’s economic status. The success of a theme park depends highly on the demand and user’s selection of the theme. The setting and location also play a vital role in the success of the park. The purpose of this research is to introduce an innovative way of educating localities and regionalists about the country’s culture. Moreover, this idea of having Theme Parks will support the Sustainable Development solutions in Bahrain, which will change the perspective to use water frontage and comply with Bahrain Vision 2030
IMPACT OF URBAN CITY SPRAWL ON THE IDENTITY OF SUBURBS AND RURAL AREAS
Urban sprawl is the rapid expansion of the city towards the suburbs and the countryside, and it happens for various reasons. The first one is of residential nature, and is a result of growing population density while others are of political, economic, and social nature. There is no doubt that the city\u27s encroachment towards the countryside and the emergence of new patterns of construction such as buildings and transportation networks have more drawbacks than advantages, in developing countries, especially in the absence of planning. This phenomenon causes the rise of real estate prices that leads to a change in the direction of its use while decreasing the green areas that are considered the lungs of cities and thus leading to environmental damage, pollution, and destruction of the countryside. This expansion also obliterates the identity and characteristics of the countryside, leading to the loss of its aesthetics and heritage. In addition, urban sprawl also threatens its original inhabitants and may force them to be displaced (force migration) due to the loss of their land, their lifestyle, and their work sometimes. The main aim of this research is: control or slow down the urban city sprawl, and preserve the countryside’s identity and its specificities. This urban encroachment can be controlled by administrative and legal methods, and in various sustainable ways, through planning based on academic and scientific studies including the issuance of laws to amend the investment ratio in the city and in the countryside. This strategy of this research will expose sustainable methods in order to develop and improve the economic return of rural areas by investing in a productive agricultural sector, or in a tourism sector that makes the countryside a destination for leisure and comfort for the city\u27s residents. On this basis, we can stop or slow down the encroachment of the city and preserve the social, environmental, aesthetic, and characteristics of the countryside
FACTORS INFLUENCING OUTSOURCING OF ACCOUNTING FUNCTIONS IN LEBANESE SMALL MEDIUM-SIZED ENTERPRISES
Accounting functions (AF) play a significant role in aiding firms to sustain competitive advantage (CA). However, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) face troubles handling basic AF. This is primarily due to their dearth of proficiency and infrastructure. Consequently, outsourcing has come to be a substantial aspect of the thorough strategy of any SME to leverage its CA. In spite of the fact that outsourcing became very popular topic, this area has not been studied fully in emerging countries like Lebanon specifically in the industrial sector. Thus, this research aimed at examining the main factors affecting AF outsourcing in the Lebanese context. A survey of 280 owners of industrial SMEs within Beirut city was carried out. The empirical analysis revealed that asset specificity (AS) and behavioral uncertainty (BU) have a significant negative impact on outsourcing of AF. Whereas, degree of competition (DOC) and accounting competence have a significant positive impact on outsourcing of AF
KNOWLEDGE AND BELIEFS OF ADOLESCENTS ABOUT ACNE: BASELINE AND POST-INTERVENTION ASSESSMENTS USING AN INTERACTIVE EDUCATIONAL TOOL
Acne vulgaris is a common inflammatory skin condition affecting teenagers around the globe. Lack of knowledge and false beliefs about acne are factors contributing to non-adherence to acne treatment that would result in treatment failure. Since acne is a highly prevalent skin condition in Lebanon, educating Lebanese adolescents about acne is vital to achieve a better treatment outcome. The aim of the present study is to assess the baseline knowledge of a sample of Lebanese adolescents using a self-administered questionnaire, and increase the level through an educational intervention (interactive audio-visual presentation). The knowledge score was assessed before and after the educational session and the assessment was repeated after one month to test the participants’ retention of information. The results showed that the socio-demographic variations among individuals and the different sources of their information had no statistically significant effect on the knowledge score of participants (p\u3e0.05) that was 54.05 ± 12.43% at baseline. The knowledge score after conducting the educational session improved significantly by 39% (

“TWIXT DEVIL AND DEEP SEA”:WILLIAM EMPSON AS POET-CRITIC
This paper attempts to offer a fresh examination of the relationship between Empson’s early career as a poet and his later erudite, largely influential, critical output. The theme of waste, which dominates his Collected Poems, partly accounts for his decision to abandon poetry, and invest his interest in complexity and ambiguity in a modernist/postmodernist procedure, way ahead of contemporary literary theory at the time. The theme of waste is further highlighted through readings of crucial key poems, as several critics of his time, such as Leavis and Alvarez, accurately signaled. The Empson canon is, thus, enriched, inviting the application of twenty-first century schools such as deconstruction and post-structuralism more broadly, to track down an early reference as well as an origin for literary theory
DIGITAL HUMANITIES: A PARADIGM FOR THE 21ST CENTURY
Our life is becoming increasingly digital and digitized, and the recent shift to an online environment is a major leap. While this rapid advancement in technology has made itself a prominent feature in such fields as medicine, marketing, communications and even education, many assume that the humanities have become a field for dinosaurs. The assumption is that the humanities focus their research output on writing and are firmly founded in a culture of books – a form of records that seem unchangeable in nature, dogmatic in intellect, and fossil-like in their searchability. The world of the digital, on the other hand, is a fluid continuum with incredible potential for creativity, dissemination, interaction, retrieval, analysis and scholarship. This review article, therefore, sets out to outline the history and rise of digital humanities (DH), explore the parameters definitive of DH, and review highlights of DH scholarship conducted currently, with the aim to open new horizons in the Arab World

THE CRIME OF SMUGGLING MIGRANTS FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF INTERNATIONAL LAW AND LEBANESE LEGISLATION
The crime of smuggling migrants is one of the biggest challenges facing criminal justice agencies in the modern era due to its seriousness that is sweeping the global arena, The International charters and national laws included strict provisions criminalizing the smuggling of migrants. Perhaps one of the most important international achievements in the history of the struggle to curb this crime is the United Nations Convention against Organized Crime across the border and the three protocols attached to it. Among them is the 2000 Protocol on Combating the Smuggling of Migrants by Land, Sea and Air, which urged the United Nations and member states to cooperate and exchange information, And the adoption of an internal legal system that provides for combating this transnational crime with Non-National dimensions, which threatens human safety and threatens the security of states
FROM CATASTROPHE TO CATHARSIS: THE EXPLOSION OF THE PORT OF BEIRUT IN TWO TEXTS THAT HEALDE LA CATASTROPHE A LA CATHARSISL’EXPLOSION DU PORT DE BEYROUTH DANS DEUX TEXTES QUI PANSENT
Abstract: Catastrophe, a notion as old as man, is today considered obsolete in the scientific sphere, since it constitutes a blinding image which distracts the researcher from his object by its capacity to dazzle (Coanus, Duchêne, Martinais , 2004). This is how the notion of risk replaced that of disaster , since a risk can be calculated, prevented, avoided, reduced, etc. The disaster would thus become a “risk that has been realized”.
The double explosion of the port of Beirut is therefore this disaster. In five seconds: two hundred dead, one hundred and fifty missing, six thousand wounded, nine thousand buildings damaged, two hundred thousand homes destroyed as well as hundreds of heritage and historic buildings and four hospitals, ten thousand businesses, workshops, stalls, shops, restaurants, cafes, pubs reduced to crumbs, dozens of art galleries, workshops of painters and sculptors, stylists, designers, architects swept away. In five seconds. (Majdalani, 2020, p. 120)
Between risk and catastrophe, in the midst of traumatic tragedy, on the still smoking ruins, with rage, with force, with pain, the authors stand up, pen or guitar in hand, for a necessary catharsis. Indeed, the inevitability and uncontrolled nature of the situation is compensated by the capacity of men to react and to mobilize. (Clavandier, 2011) This is how we are going to look at two texts, born from the rubble of the port of Beirut, in an attempt to detect their cathartic essence. The first text is that of a Lebanese songwriter, Anthony Ojeil, who takes up the country’s hymn of Brel, under the title Vent d’espoir , a few days after the disaster, and the second, that of the playwright of Lebanese origin, WajdiMouawad, appeared in the newspaper Le Monde, 4 days after August 4.
