Teachability and Learnability of English Grammatical Items That Japanese EFL Learners Suffer From: Towards More Effective and Efficient Teaching and Learning
No full textDepartmental Bulletin PaperThe goal of this paper is to revisit Japanese-speaking English learners’ acquisition order of English grammatical items from new perspectives of teachability and learnability. The fact that there are English grammatical items that Japanese-speaking learners of English suffer from has been explained in terms of their foreign language learning environment in which little exposure to the target language can be expected. The recent studies, however, have provided evidence for another fact that some items are easier or more difficult to be learned compared to others. This Japanese-speaking English learners’ acquisition order of English grammatical items suggests that some items are more teachable or learnable than others. The present study conducted an experiment of free English writing, collected 3,313 errors of 36 morphosyntactic types, and obtained another new evidence for the acquisition order. The theoretical and empirical implications from our approach to the acquisition order in terms of teachability and learnability are discussed.departmental bulletin pape
DEA と Inverted DEA による整備新幹線の開業がもたらす地域経済社会の QOL 向上への影響分析
No full textDepartmental Bulletin PaperIn this paper, the effect of the activation of the regional economy and society by the opening of the projected Shinkansen lines was quantitatively and empirically analyzed using DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) which is an evaluation from the positive side and Inverted DEA (Inverted Data Envelopment Analysis) which is an evaluation from the negative side. This paper newly defined the QOL (Quality of Life) score which showed the effect of the activation of regional economy and society. The improved Shinkansen was more effective when the entire line was opened than when part of it was opened. The result of this paper quantitatively analyzed the validity for the improvement plan execution of the projected Shinkansen lines, and it presents the important material for the improvement plan of future undeveloped section.departmental bulletin pape
