Departmental Bulletin PaperThe SIMINSOC game, developed as an educational and research tool to simulate global environmental issues and North-South problems, effectively illustrates the concept of "sustainable development," which serves as the foundation for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) proposed by the United Nations. To ascertain whether participation in the game has an educational effect while fostering interest in sustainable development, this study examined whether engagement with the game may contribute to this effect. The post-game free-response statements of participants were obtained, and the degree to which their statements related to "sustainable development" was compared with those of the referent group (who did not participate in the game). It was hypothesized that participants in the game would produce a greater number of relevant statements and that its amount would be heightened due to their interest in the concept. A greater proportion of the free-response statements collected from participants in the SIMINSOC games (62 students) were related to "sustainable development" than those obtained from the referent group (16 students). Furthermore, the volume of these statements tended to be greater in the former than the latter group. Morphological analysis revealed that many of the former descriptions contained words related to development, environment, sustainability, and so on.departmental bulletin pape

Departmental Bulletin PaperRegarding the issue of the removal of the Gunma Forest Korean Memorial, I believe that "the governor could have legally allowed the memorial to remain in the place without contradicting the Supreme Court's decision," and that "the root cause of the memorial's removal was the pressure from some citizens who strongly advocated for its removal, and the inappropriate administrative response of the governor who easily followed suit." This issue must be considered not only from a legal perspective, but also from a historical, social, and administrative perspective. In this paper, I will examine the root cause of the memorial's removal issue from these perspectives, and consider what will lie ahead after the memorial was removed.departmental bulletin pape
