Improving Technology Enhanced Learning as a Prerequisite for Sustainable Education

    No full text
In the area of information and communication technologies (ICT), technology enhanced learning (TEL) is all around us. Information is accessible for everyone through the different software platforms, but the challenge is to find the data that can enhance the competences, as well as improve the education. Having in mind rapid changes that takes place in the globalising world, technology enhanced learning systems have to support the sustainable education, as the concept that involves active academic participation to create economic, social and environmental programs improving life standards, generating empowerment and respecting interdependence. This paper presents both advantages and disadvantages of current TEL systems, suggesting the approaches for improving them in order to create sustainable education that will meet the demands of the future world

Factors Related to Cyber Security Behavior

    No full text
Theoretical and empirical insight notes that cyber security awareness is a topic of particular interest in cyber security. Humans are the central figures in cyber security and the way to reduce risk in cyberspace is to make people more security aware. While there have been numerous studies about various aspects of cyber security awareness, they are both inconsistent and environment-dependent. The main aim of our research is to analyze cyber security awareness in depth, and to try to discover how various factors such as socio-demographics, cyber security perceptions, previous cyber security breaches, IT usage, and knowledge may individually or together impact on cyber security behavior. To prove that we conducted our research on students, as they are the most technologically active part of the society. We discovered that knowledge proved to be the dominant factor for cyber security awareness, and although students are digital natives, they do not feel safe in the cyber environment; they do not behave securely and do not have adequate knowledge to protect themselves in cyberspace

CBRN crime scene management and investigation

    No full text
Investigation of a CBRN incident has to be conducted in a systematic, objective, and timely manner in order to collect, preserve and analyse physical evidence from the associated site to be admissible in a criminal or civil proceeding, as well as in prosecution of acts of terrorism and war crimes. The inherently hazardous character of a crime scene involving CBRN agents adds complexity to investigative actions and requires additional expertise, equipment and conditions. The specific investigation strategies are necessary, together with the adapted CBRN detection equipment and forensics methods and procedures. This paper deals with the management of a CBRN crime scene and the specifics of investigation process, including interfaces between CBRN safety and security, and emergency response. The necessary framework, the conduct of operations, and an integrated command structure are outlined. The role of the technical support organisations with adequate CBRN expertises is emphasised

SAWIT—Security Awareness Improvement Tool in the Workplace

    No full text
Cyberattacks are becoming increasingly sophisticated and severe, and an organization’s protection depends on its weakest member. Although users are aware of the risks in cyberspace, most of them do not follow best practices, and there is a need for permanent structured training. The majority of previous training programs concentrated on technically educated users, but the organization is only as secure as the most vulnerable link in it. The paper presents SAWIT, a new Web tool, created with the goal of improving security awareness among employees. It is an innovative artificial intelligence framework aimed at improving the cyber security knowledge of employees by using collaborative learning and assessment within the specified knowledge transformation model

Public reactions to the disaster COVID-19: a comparative study in Italy, Lebanon, Portugal, and Serbia

    No full text
A new coronavirus emerged in December 2019 and quickly spread globally, causing unprecedented social, psychological, and economic damage. This study aimed to investigate people’s emotional reactions to the COVID-19 pandemic. The dataset for this study consisted of 2,013 adults (962 males and 1,053 females) in four countries (Italy, Lebanon, Portugal, and Serbia). A snowball sampling technique that focused on recruiting the general public living in countries during the COVID-19 epidemic was utilized. An online survey was disseminated at the same time, in March–April 2020, when many countries were exposed to COVID-19. Results indicated that, with regard to gender, females had more psychological reactions to COVID-19 than did males. People who had one child were more stressed than people with no children. Extensive knowledge of COVID-19 was found to trigger more anxiety. Results showed that stress and overall emotional reactions increased with age. The findings can be used to develop psychological interventions to improve mental health and psychological resilience during the COVID-19 epidemic

Young adults' fear of disasters: A case study of residents from Turkey, Serbia and Macedonia

This paper presents the results of quantitative research regarding the level and the causes of fear of disasters among young adults in Turkey, Serbia, and Macedonia. The survey was conducted using a questionnaire that was given and then collected hand by hand that explored in depth the disaster-related fears among 537 respondents during 2016. The questionnaire explored students' basic demographics and their level of fear, as well as the causes and sources of fear. Across the three countries, the results indicated an excessive level of fear both of earthquakes and of epidemics. In addition, participants reported that they were particularly afraid for their personal lives and, to a greater extent, for the health of their parents. Experiences with bad weather conditions, pictures of the consequences of disasters, and past disaster experience were found to exacerbate fear. It was also found that females were more afraid, with a possible socio-cultural-laden link to an ethos of protection versus participation. Findings can be used to create focused strategies at a national level intended to reduce excess fear of disasters and facilitate a more prepared public through policy and education programme development

Percepcija međunacionalnih odnosa kroz prizmu bezbednosti Republike Srbije

The paper analyzes interethnic relations in the Republic of Serbia that may have an impact on the security of the Republic of Serbia. The purpose of this paper is to examine and explain the elements relevant to the security system from the perspective of interethnic relations through the attitudes of members of churches and religious communities. The research was conducted through survey testing and directed orientation interviews with representatives of the Islamic community in the Republic of Serbia, in places where the inhabitants of this community live, the representatives of state administration, local and regional authorities.U radu se analiziraju međunacionalni odnosi u Republici Srbiji koji mogu imati uticaj na bezbednost Republike Srbije.

Characteristics of the geopolitical environment of the Republic of Serbia: Security and defense aspects

Application of innovative risk assessment methodology for damage mechanisms identification on part of amine regeneration unit

When implementing the method for quantitative risk analysis, usually based on RBI (Risk Based Inspection), conditions which directly influence the identification of damage mechanisms are defined at the beginning of the analysis. Thus, conducted analysis applies to the exact parameters and very specific combinations of conditions and damage mechanisms. The question arises as to whether such an analysis and its results may represent initial data for some subsequent analysis that can be carried out in the following period, regardless of the reasons for the implementation. The extension of the methodology from the one shown in the ASME PCC 3 standard is to identify both active and passive/potential damage mechanisms and the conditions under which passive can be activated. This addition to the methodology is successfully applied in case of a Middle East refinery, and as a representative example, a typical amine regeneration unit present in all modern gas or oil refineries, specifically the part of the unit with lean amine, is shown
