Performance "Morphin" - the body as an algorithm

    No full text
Master's thesis entitled Morphin’ – The Body as an Algorithm analyses the development of a solo performance Morphin’. The working process started in October 2021 and ended in September 2022. The first phase of the work consisted of collecting data on the impact of social media on today’s society and their political power. The research was focused on TikTok, an online platform where an entertaining content is displayed in the form of short videos. Some known categories include dance sequences, tutorials, stunts or comedy sketches. The user indicates his/her interest in the content by scrolling; sliding over the screen of his cell phone with a thumb. An internet algorithm simultaneously records the category of the video and the length of the user’s viewing, so that it can offer similar or different content again and again in accordance with these parameters. Since the war in Ukraine started in 2022, the abundance of random material was accompanied by actual war footages, presidential speeches and reports on the state of warfare. One flick of the thumb separated a battlefield in Kiev from a nightclub in San Francisco, some Ukrainian soldier from Batman, and a motivational speech by some influencer from a political speech delivered by Vladimir Putin. An average viewer has become equally exposed to any kind of content, regardless of his/her age or level of education. The one is not invited to critically approach the subject he/she is viewing, but is reduced to passive consumption of what he/she is offered. If we try to imagine the algorithmic content as a kind of psychological profile, and TikTok as its creator, we might as well witness the formation of some digital personality. A personality which knows no moral boundaries and makes war, entertainment and everyday content equally relevant. The aim of performance was to use the body and speech as instruments of an internet algorithm. This experiment was first developed as a digital installation which was designed for a masterclass called Creative visual arts project. The class was a part of Digital Interactive Arts MA study at The Faculty of Theatre and Film in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. The author attended one semester of the study during Erasmus student exchange program. Later, the movements and vocal elements from the videos were fragmented and cut up, generating a series of choreographic sequences which were interconnected to a thirty-minute performance.

    Digital marketing in hospitality industry

Zbog pojave interneta i novih medija, dolazi do velike promjene u komunikacijskoj paradigmi 21. stoljeća. Tako nastaju različite i bezbrojne digitalne strategije, marketing miksevi i marketing tehnike pomoću kojih poduzetnici privlače potencijalne korisnike u online okruženju. In the 21st century, as seen in many examples, every story of marketing begins with the word "digital". In this paper, the focus will primarily be placed on digital marketing (the so-called “e-marketing”), but as each page has two sides, the concept of digital marketing should be explained with two terms: “digital” and “marketing”. Marketing is a process of planning and implementing the creation of ideas, products and services, determining their prices, promotion and distribution, in order to make the exchange that satisfies the goals of the individual and the organization. Because of the emergence of the Internet and new media there is a major change in the communication paradigm of the 21st century. The world is becoming a global village, and it has never been easier to communicate. Due to facilitated communication in the online environment and large masses of people who use the internet every day, there is a great possibility of advertising products or services through the Internet. This is the story where digital marketing (e-marketing) takes elements of traditional marketing used in traditional media and inserts a dose of “digital” into them. This is how various and countless digital strategies, marketing mixes and marketing techniques are created, by which entrepreneurs attract potential users in an online environment. Considering that in 21. century most of the communication switched to mobile devices, the most important form of marketing is cited - mobile marketing. Combining mobile marketing and social media provides a powerful tool that can convey the desired message to the end user at any second. How we can use online marketing and social networks in the context of the hospitality industry and how we can use them to increase sales or attract potential users is shown by analyzing content on the example of Franz Koch night club

    Journalism in Croatia

Osim novinske agencije Hine, u Hrvatskoj još postoje IKA i STINA. In this paper, journalism in Croatia is investigated. At the beginning, a review of journalism in history and the Homeland War is given. The first Croatian newspaper was written in Latin and was called Ephemerides Zagrebienses, and the first newspaper in the Croatian language was Novine Horvatzke. The first Croatian journalism school was opened during the 20th century, but it did not last long and was closed due to the unequal education of the participants. This is believed to have been the main problem. During the 1990s, the first Croatian news agency - HINA - was opened. During the Homeland War, journalists were not prepared for the new situation and there were many deaths. At that time, there was no law in Croatia prescribing how to report during such situations, and this was precisely the reason why the deaths occurred. When the authorities realized how many deaths were happening, they introduced a law and the number was reduced. During the war, the Serbian media accused the Croats of publishing lies, but many Croatian journalists today say that they had nothing to lie about because there was constant war. The paper also mentions the media in Croatia, which are newspapers, agencies, weekly magazines, television and radio. In addition to the news agency Hine, there are also IKA and STINA in Croatia. Newspapers are divided into national and regional. The national daily newspapers are 24 sata, Jutarnji and Večernji list. There are many more regional daily newspapers, and some of them are Glas Slavonije, Glas Istra, Novi List, etc. There are also many weeklies, and some of them are Gloria, Nacional, etc. In Croatia, you can watch a lot on television, and almost everyone can find something for yourself. Some of the Croatian programs are HRT, Nova TV, RTL, CMC, Arenasport, etc. Those who travel mostly listen to the radio and can also find a station that suits them. Some of the radio stations are Otvoreni, Katolički radio, Antena Zagreb, HRT radio, etc. Journalism today has been affected by numerous changes and these are mentioned in the paper. The changes that have befallen journalism in Croatia are serious structural changes. They happened because of the market and new journalism studies. Another change is that print media is in continuous decline because there are more and more internet portals where people can download content for free. The problems of Croatian journalism were also mentioned. The biggest problems are the truthfulness and responsibility of journalists for the written texts. At the end, a conclusion was presented based on the written paper

The influence of social networks on the creation of parasocial relationship

The topics of the final paper are parasocial interactions on social networks. We have extended this topic to the media in general, from which we can extract what is currently popular in society and what parasocial interactions are mostly created around, whether it is celebrities or their actions and content that is published. The Internet has become a place where people find their new identity but also create it. For these reasons, it is important to understand the emergence of this phenomenon, and through this paper we offer data that explain the emergence of parasocial relationships that are part of our everyday life. In the first part of the paper, the theoretical framework related to celebrity culture and mass media is given, and a special review is given of the emergence of the Internet and new media. Parasocial relationships are also explained in more detail and how they arise within the framework of celebrity culture, new types of parasocial relationships that arise on social networks and not necessarily always in relation to celebrities. The second part of the paper refers to recent research that shows the creation of such relationships. And finally, everything previously analyzed and interpreted is synthesized in the conclusion

Glavna su tema rada radikalne inovacije. Radikalne inovacije, kako i sam naziv kaže, donose radikalne promjene, tj. predstavljaju visoki stupanj novosti. The elementary theme of the work is radical innovation. Radical innovations, as the name suggests, bring radical changes that pass a high degree of novelty. They change the thinking about a product and the way that products were used. Radical innovations sometimes cause changes at the level of the whole society. According to some authors, only 25% of innovations that companies launch on the market experience success, while 75% of new products end up unsuccessful. Out of these 25% of the prosperous article, only 6-10% can be considered to be radical innovations. Radical innovations that have changed the world are personal computers as well as the Internet have occurred in recent history. New radical innovations that are improving every day are robotics, artificial intelligence, blockchain technologies, genome sequencing, and energy harvesting
