Negative through positive: three negative emotions displayd through the medium of sculputre

    No full text
Ruke, kroz sve ostale kolegije i radove, predstavljaju unutarnje frustracije, probleme, brige i tegobe pojedinoga umjetnika koje ga drže zatočenoga i zarobljenoga na mjestuFor the theme of the final work, Negative through Positive: the presentation of three negative emotions through the medium of sculpture, a series of three free-standing sculptures was made in clay (terracotta), which were then patinated to resemble oxidized bronze. The initial idea of the work itself was created during the drawing and painting courses, and I applied the motif as such in the sculpture classes, using the clay modeling technique. The motif is the hands, which on the sculpture are the building element of the form, through which emotions are presented. The hands, through all other courses and works, represent the inner frustrations, problems, worries and troubles of an individual artist that keep the said artist imprisoned and trapped in a place

Storytelling game in context of printmaking

The work consists of six graphic prints in the réservage technique. The prints show a composition of terms from which eighty were taken and printed in screen printing to become part of the card game. Drawings are made quickly and spontaneously from several strokes and are divided into figurative and abstract depending on the perception of the observer. This way everyone can interpret them in their own way. From this comes the idea for the game that will encourage a player to think creatively and use their imagination to be able to create one whole by communicating with others. Listening, understanding others, and teamwork are important factors to tell a story based on the terms they see. Most of the population encounters stories from an early age, and in this way the players become storytellers and thus in some way return to childhood. It was this return to childhood that was the inspiration for the visual part of the game

Graphic novel What Comes With the Wind is an original story about life and people on a small Adriatic island with elements of crime genre.

Persons with multiple disabilities are often engaged in some kind of musical intervention. Neurologic music therapy includes a lot of different techniques which can be used in intervention with persons with multiple disabilities. Music sensory orientation training is one of them. The aim of this study is to explore the effect of Music sensory orientation training on a level of arousal and quality of attention with persons with multiple disabilities. Two clients of Day Care Centre for Rehabilitation of Children and Young Adults Mali dom-Zagreb participated in Musical sensory orientation training. They participated in four training sessions during a period of one month. Sessions were recorded and analysed from two independent valuers. The results were analysed quantitatively (that included results of CRIB scale-CRIB; Simeonsson et al., 1988) and qualitatively (assessment of some behavioural parameters-time of reaction, duration of reaction and quality analysis of response (Lima i sur, 2013). In both cases, quantitative analysis has shown that Music sensory orientation training has a positive effect on a level of arousal, on a retention of a level of arousal and on relaxation of the person. Qualitative analysis has given some information how to modify musical interventions (the way of preparing of the sessions, monitoring of client and therapist relation, using of different techniques and methods of MT) to get better answer from clients (to get faster reactions, to get longer reactions, to get more and different nonverbal client’s behaviours). In discussion are written some of the limitations of this research but all results refer that Music sensory orientation training has a positive effect on a level of arousal and quality of attention with persons with multiple disabilities. It can be used like individual activity or like preparation for some other activity

The play entitled "Kako su Ljiljo i Kosjenka pobijedili Zlu neslogu" (How Ljiljo and Kosjenka beat the Evil discord) of the Split City Puppet Theatre is BranimirRakić’s graduation work indirecting of the play. Branimir Rakić is a student at the Graduate School of Puppet Theatre Direction (of the Academy of Arts and Culture in Osijek) under the mentorship of Tamara Kučinović, Assistant Professor of Art. The paper describes the directorial work on the play, starting from the process of the selection of the text itself, the work on the dramaturgy and the collaboration with the playwright, actors, the composer, the puppet maker, the set and the lighting designers. Reflecting on the director's experience, Rakić presented all the problems that arose during the creation of the play. It can be concluded that the complexity of the director's profession, which lies in the multidisciplinarity of theater (puppetry) art and the ability to connect all these separate disciplines into one whole, requires lifelong learning and development, on a professional and personal level

Media coverage of reality shows and impact on society

Reality show svijet vrlo je specifičan i neuhvatljiv u cjelini i stoga on ima i svoje podijele. Reality show is an English expression that is often used in our language. In fact, a genre of television program that we consider to be the most popular television format of popular culture. It shows reality and allegedly unscripted situations of the candidates everyday of their life. In the last few years, the reality show has gained increased public interest through various spectacles, media coverage and unexpected situations in which the candidates found themselves. The reality show world is very specific and elusive as a whole, and therefore it has its divisions. It is important to understand that not every reality is equal and that there are predetermined standards and goals that must be met. This type of television format may be entertaining for the general public, but it also greatly affects society

Postcolonial mechanism towards the Balkans in postsocialist Croatia

    No full text
Even though Croatia is not classified as a former colony, postcolonial mechanisms can be addressed to the country. The transitional period towards postsocialism established itself as the period containing most postcolonial manifestations pursuant to internal struggles which aimed to fabricate a European identity for Croatia, whilst simultaneously distancing itself from the Balkans. The project of national identity was conducted within the realms of culture, linguistics, historiography, law and collective memory under the premises of Appadurai's concept entitled narcissism of minor differences, as well as ‘Orientalism’ and ‘Balkanism’ which inhibit the success rate of such undertakings. Occidental hegemony, implemented through media generated discourse, defined Croatia within the Balkans and following the inability of self-representation, autocolonialism soon followed. Post-socialist Croatia was thus left in an identity vacuum in which its identity is binary segregated between the West and East. Considering the implications of ambivalent identity, this paper addresses the process of fabricating Croatia's national identity from 1991 till today with an overview of cinematographic production following this issue. The analysed movies are, due to postcolonial conventions, segregated between the ones produced within the West, the Balkans and Croatia
