No full textLa versión cinematográfica de Breakfast at Tiffany’s propuso un cambio importante respecto al original literario, dando la vuelta a la condición de los dos personajes protagonistas. Si en la nouvelle original Holly era una prostituta, en la película se hizo que el prostituto fuera su vecino Fred/Paul, aunque mantuviera su condición de escritor. De esta manera, la escritura se convierte en una actividad un tanto problemática que produce graves problemas de identidad que afectarán igualmente a Holly, convertida ahora en musa del escritor.The film version of Breakfast at Tiffany\u27s posed a significant change from the literary original, reversing the status of the two main characters. While in the original nouvelle, Holly was a prostitute, in the film, the prostitute was her neighbor, Fred/Paul, although he remained a writer. In this way, writing becomes a somewhat problematic activity that produces serious identity issues that also affect Holly, now the writer\u27s muse
Éros and dialectics in Plato’s Phaedrus
No full textEl presente artículo se ocupa de manera general del problema de la amplitud temática del Fedro de Platón en relación a cuál es el asunto principal del diálogo y cómo se relacionan sus partes, y se propone investigar en particular si existe alguna relación entre el tema sobre el que versan los primeros discursos —el éros— y el tema que corona las consideraciones críticas acerca de la técnica retórica —la dialéctica—. Se sostendrá que el diálogo está organizado de tal modo que el el éros y la dialéctica se relacionan a través de la noción de reminiscencia de una manera que cobra sentido en la totalidad del diálogo. Se mostrará que la reminiscencia consiste en su modo más perfecto en el ejercicio de una vida filosófica que implica, a través del éros de tipo divino y de la práctica de la dialéctica que surge de las críticas a la retórica tradicional, el elevamiento hacia la verdad. Se concluirá que el filósofo es el único que puede aplicar cabalmente la reminiscencia al estar locamente enamorado a causa del dios y al usar la dialéctica como la auténtica técnica retórica, y en este sentido es lícito llamarlo también enamorado o dialéctico.This article deals generally with the problem of the thematic scope of Plato\u27s Phaedrus, what is its main subject and how its parts are related. It proposes to investigate in particular whether there is any relationship between the topic of the first speeches —éros— and the topic that crowns the critical considerations about rhetorical technique —dialectic. It will be argued that the dialogue is organized in such a way that éros and dialectic are related through the notion of reminiscence in a way that makes sense throughout the whole dialogue. It will be shown that the most perfect form reminiscence consists in the exercise of a philosophical life that involves, through the éros of a divine kind and the practice of the dialectic that arises from criticisms of traditional rhetoric, the elevation toward truth. It will be concluded that the philosopher is the only one who can fully apply reminiscence by being madly in love in a divine way and by using dialectics as the authentic rhetorical technique, and in this sense it is legitimate to call him also lover or dialectician
Comparative analysis of trends in cadastral valuation and municipal rates in Ecuador and Spain: Article
No full textEste estudio realiza un análisis comparativo de la evolución de la valoración catastral y las tarifas impositivas en Ecuador y España durante el período 2006-2016, con el objetivo de evaluar y contrastar los resultados de sus modelos de gestión catastral centralizado en España y descentralizado en Ecuador. La metodología se basó en el análisis de datos de todos los municipios de ambos países, obtenidos de la Dirección Nacional de Catastro española y de las ordenanzas cantonales ecuatorianas. Los resultados revelan diferencias significativas: España presenta una alta estabilidad en los tipos de gravamen y una subvaloración de los inmuebles. En contraste, Ecuador muestra una gran variabilidad en las tarifas, una mayor presión fiscal relativa en zonas rurales y una notable influencia de los ciclos políticos en las decisiones locales, evidenciando inequidades territoriales. Se concluye que el modelo centralizado español favorece la armonización fiscal a costa de una lenta adaptación al mercado, mientras que la autonomía del modelo descentralizado ecuatoriano genera disparidades y una menor coherencia en la política tributaria. This study conducts a comparative analysis of the evolution of cadastral valuation and tax rates in Ecuador and Spain during the 2006-2016 period, with the objective of evaluating and contrasting the results of their cadastral management models—centralized in Spain and decentralized in Ecuador. The methodology was based on the analysis of data from all municipalities in both countries, obtained from Spain\u27s National Cadastre Directorate and Ecuadorian cantonal ordinances. The results reveal significant differences: Spain exhibits high stability in tax rates and undervaluation of properties. In contrast, Ecuador shows great variability in rates, a higher relative fiscal pressure in rural areas, and a notable influence of political cycles on local decisions, revealing territorial inequities. It is concluded that the Spanish centralized model favors fiscal harmonization at the cost of slow adaptation to the market, while the autonomy of the Ecuadorian decentralized model generates disparities and less coherence in tax polic

Su importancia radica principalmente en su valoración como nicho de biodiversidad; por lo que su conservación resulta de gran interés para mejorar la gestión forestal de nuestros bosques. Analizar la evolución reciente de rodales maduros de diferentes ambientes biogeográficos puede ayudar a identificar nuevos rodales y a favorecer la toma de decisiones en la planificación y gestión actuales. En este estudio se analiza la evolución de cinco rodales que presentan características de madurez Red Natura 2000 de la Comunidad Autónoma de AragónForest maturity is not a new concept, but it has only recently been incorporated into forest management practices in Spain. “Discourses of Trans Surgery”: Transfeminists, TERFs, and Medical Transnormativity in Second Wave American Feminism
No full textThis article explores how transfeminists and TERFs understood the relationship between trans identity and trans medical procedures in the US Second Wave feminist movement of the 1970s. Building off of recent historical research on transfeminists involvement in the Second Wave, as well as the theoretical development of “transnormativity,” this article expands the conversation to explore how trans and anti-trans actors contributed to the creation of a transnormativity in which sex reassignment surgeries were central to trans identity itself. This is explored through historical source analysis and close reading of various articles from 1970s feminist publications a long with an analysis of Janice Raymond’s The Transsexual Empire. Through this I argue that both trans activists and TERFs of the Second Wave espoused a limiting view of trans identity and experience in which the trans subject is only a creation of medical procedures

Computational Modeling of Cell Behavior Driven by Growth Factor Release from Biodegradable Microcapsules
No full textAmong other stimuli, cell behavior is also regulated by biochemical signals such as growth factors, pharmaceutical agents. Unlike previous models assuming steady gradients, we model the time-dependent release and diffusion of growth factors from degradable microcapsules. Drug diffusion is modeled using Fick’s law with spatially varying diffusivity. The model is validated against previous experimental studies and offers a realistic framework to study localized, controlled drug release and its effect on cell movement
