Free vibration and buckling of functionally graded porous beams using analytical, finite element, and artificial neural network methods
In this study, an analytical solution based on the first-order shear deformation theory was performed for free vibration and buckling analysis of functionally graded porous beams (FGM-P) subjected to various boundary conditions. Also, this problem is solved by using finite element (FEM) and artificial neural network (ANN) methods. Here a Ritz-based analytical solution is used, and different polynomial series functions are proposed for each boundary condition. Lagrange's principle was used while deriving the equations of motion. A power-law rule describes the variation of the beam's materials in volume. The normalized fundamental frequencies and critical buckling loads are obtained for various boundary conditions, power-law index (k), slenderness (L/h), porosity coefficient (e), and porosity distribution (FGM-P1, FGM-P2). The polynomial series functions used in this study were verified with the literature, and the numerical results obtained were compared with FEM and ANN. The results obtained are quite compatible with each other
The Effects of Risk Management Practices on Financial Performance: An Empirical Analysis on Islamic Banks
Risk is an inevitable reality for financial institutions, and once it is known, the main activity to be done is an effective risk management.The purpose of this study is to empirically analyze the effects of risk management practices on financial performance in Islamic banks. This study examines the effect of risk management practices on the financial performances of three Islamic banks operating in Türkiye through regression analysis. The data set of the study consists of a panel data containing 180 observations in total. Return on equity and return on assets, which are used as indicators of banks' financial performance, are dependent variables of the model. The financial ratios used to represent risk management are the independent variables of the model. The findings reveal that leverage ratio and asset utilization ratio have statistically significant effects on the performance of Islamic banks. The results of the study support the findings and arguments in the established body of previous literature. The findings obtained within the scope of this study could be used as guidance for the banks in their financial risk management practices and they will shed light on the future studies
Sınav Kaygısı ile Başa Çıkmada Çözüm Odaklı Kısa Süreli Terapinin Etkisi: Bir Olgu Sunumu
Bu araştırmanın amacı, sınav kaygısı ile başa çıkmada çözüm odaklı kısa süreli terapinin etkisinin incelenmesidir. Bu etkiyi incelemek amacıyla, nicel araştırma yöntemlerinden tek denekli deneysel desen kullanılmıştır. Katılımcı, yüksek düzeyde sınav kaygısı belirtileri gösteren ortaokul 8. sınıfta öğrenim görmekte olan bir öğrencidir. Veri toplama aracı olarak Westside Sınav Kaygısı Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Müdahale programı 4 oturum uygulama ve bir 1 oturum izleme olarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Öncelikle başlangıç düzeyi verisi elde edilmiş, müdahale programının uygulanması aşamasında her hafta veri toplanmaya devam edilmiştir. Uygulama oturumları bittikten 4 hafta sonra izleme oturumu ile izleme verisi elde edilmiştir. Verilerin analizinde grafiksel analiz kullanılmıştır. Analiz sonuçlarına göre, katılımcının derecelendirme sorusuna giderek daha yüksek puanlar verdiği, sınav kaygısında ve sınav kaygısının karın ağrısı, yüzde kızarma, sınava odaklanmada zorluk yaşama gibi etkilerinde azalma olduğu ve ölçüm puanlarında da olumlu yönde değişim gerçekleştiği belirlenmiştir. Bu sonuçlar doğrultusunda, çözüm odaklı kısa süreli terapinin sınav kaygısı ile başa çıkmada etkili bir yaklaşım olduğu söylenebilir
Efficient production of acetone butanol ethanol from sole fresh and rotten potatoes by various Clostridium strains
This study aimed to evaluate rotten potato in the fermentation of acetone butanol ethanol (ABE). For this purpose, three strains, Clostridium acetobutylicum DSMZ 1731, Clostridium acetobutylicum DSMZ 6228, and Clostridium beijerinckii DSMZ 6422, were used and production experiments were performed in a simple media only composed of either fresh or rotten potato. Effects of potato concentration (100-400 g/L) and time (24-144 h) on the fermentation were determined using fresh potato. The highest ABE production was detected at 400 g/L potato concentration at the end of 96 h by all strains. Clostridium acetobutylicum DSMZ 6228 was the most efficient strain in producing ABE among the microorganisms tested. Total ABE productions by Clostridium acetobutylicum DSMZ 1731, Clostridium acetobutylicum DSMZ 6228, and Clostridium beijerinckii DSMZ 6422 at 400 g/L in 96 h were 12.3, 17.6, and 12.0 g/L, respectively. The majority of the products was butanol that made up ca. 66-67% of total ABE. Significant amounts of ABE were also produced with rotten potato which was compatible with the results obtained with fresh potato. They were determined as 11.5, 17.1, and 9.6 g/L with Clostridium acetobutylicum DSMZ 1731, Clostridium acetobutylicum DSMZ 6228, and Clostridium beijerinckii DSMZ 6422, respectively. Cheaper, Wide-Band, Ultra-Thin, and Multi-Purpose Single-Layer Metasurface Polarization Converter Design for C-, X-, and Ku-Band Applications
This article presents the design of wide-band, ultra-thin, and multi-purpose polarization converter utilizing metasurface for C-, X-, and Ku-band applications. Having a topology on a FR-4 substrate with metasurface metallic patterns on the front and an all-metallic surface finish on the back, the unit cell of converter design has symmetry in the x-y plane with unique features of having both linear polarization (LP) and circular polarization (CP) property. While the polarization conversion ratio (PCR) of converter in normal incidence case is more than 90% in three different frequency bands of 6.46-6.78 GHz, 10.52-11.85 GHz, and 16.49-17.37 GHz, it shows linear-to-linear polarization feature and a linear-to-circular polarization feature with left-handed circular polarization (LHCP) for the frequency range between 7.28 and 9.40 GHz and right-handed circular polarization (RHCP) for the frequency range between 13.38 and 15.19 GHz. It is also seen that the converter has a PCR value of around 90% for oblique incidence case with incidence angles up to 45 & DEG;. Extensive simulations have been conducted to prove the performance of suggested converter with the aid of a commercially-available simulation platform, called CST Microwave Studio. The advantages of suggested polarization converter are low-cost, wide-band, ultra-thin, and having both LP and CP conversion in C-, X-, and Ku-bands
Examination of engineering properties of silica aerogel added lightweight concrete produced using volcanic tufa wastes
Lisansüstü Eğitim Enstitüsü, İnşaat Mühendisliği Ana Bilim Dalı, İnşaat Mühendisliği Bilim DalıTez çalışmasında, volkanik tüf taşlardan olan Bayburt Taşı (BT) atıkları ile silika aerojel (SA) sentezi sağlanmıştır. Belirli oranlarda SA'nın hafif betonuna ikamesinin ısı ve ses yalıtımına, dayanımına ve porozite gibi özelliklere etkisi araştırılmıştır. Çalışma ile çevre dostu bir yöntemle üretimi sağlanan, yüksek termal kararlılığa sahip, yalıtım özellikleri iyileştirilmiş hafif betonun inşaat sektörüne kazandırılması hedeflenmiştir. Çalışmanın ilk aşamasında BT atıkları kullanılarak SA sentezi gerçekleştirilmiştir. İkinci aşamada ise SA katkılı hafif beton üretimi gerçekleştirilmiştir. Numunelere fiziksel (birim hacim ağırlık, porozite, su emme, termal iletkenlik ve ultrases geçiş hızı), mekanik (basınç dayanımı) deneyleri uygulanmış ve sonuçlar ANOVA analizi ile yorumlanmıştır. Ayrıca numunelerin yapısal karakterizasyon (XRD, TEM, FT-IR, TGA/DTA ve SEM) analizleri ile optik mikroskop görüntülemeleri gerçekleştirilmiştir. Isı yalıtımının optimum olacağı hafif betonun tespiti için taguchi yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Hafif betonda SA oranı (%0, 1, 2 ve 3), çimento dozajı (300 ve 350) ve karışım suyu oranı (0,40 ve 0,45) parametreleri belirlenerek L8 (41*22) ortagonal dizisi seçilmiştir. Çalışma ile ısı yalıtımının (%3, 350 ve 0,40) seviyeleriyle optimum olacağı belirlenmiştir. (%3) SA ikamesinin hafif betonda: (%46) termal iletkenlik değerini iyileştirdiği, porozitesini (%31,48) artırdığı ve basınç dayanımında (9,72 MPa) azalma yaşanmasına neden olduğu belirlenmiştir. Karakterizasyon incelemelerinde: SA'nın hidrofobik ve iyi adsorpsiyon özellikte olduğu, beton içerisinde SA'nın etrafında gözenekli yapının oluştuğu ve SA konsantrasyonunun artması ile betonda çoklu kristal yapının arttığı, bu artışın malzemenin mekanik dayanımında azalmaya neden olduğu değerlendirilmektedir. Termogravimetik analizinde 1000 °C'de gözlenen kütlen kaybının %0 SA ikamesinde %27'lerde iken %3 SA ikamesi ile bu değerin %21'lere düştüğü gözlenmiş ve bu durum SA ikamesinin artmasının betonda termal durabiliteyi artırdığının göstergesi olarak değerlendirilmiştir. Ayrıca, yüksek yalıtım özellikli hafif beton elde etmede SA'nın etkisinin büyük olduğunu ve atık BT kullanımının bölge ekonomisini olumlu yönde etkileyeceği değerlendirilmektedir.In the thesis study, silica aerogel (SA) synthesis was achieved using Bayburt Stone (BT) waste, which is a volcanic tuff stone. The results of the change of SA in lightweight concrete such as heat and sound insulation, leakage and porosity were investigated. The study provides an environmentally friendly production and aims to introduce lightweight concrete with high thermal stability and improved voltage properties to the construction industry. In the first stage of the study, SA synthesis was performed using BT attacks. In the second stage, lightweight concrete with SA additives was produced. Physical (unit volume weight, porosity, water absorption, thermal conductivity and ultrasound transmission rate) and mechanical (pressure test) tests were performed on the samples and the results were interpreted by ANOVA analysis. In addition, structural characterization (XRD, TEM, FT-IR, TGA/DTA and SEM) analyzes and optical microscope imaging of the samples were performed. Taguchi method was used to determine the lightweight concrete with optimum thermal insulation. In lightweight concrete, the L8 (41*22) orthogonal series was selected by determining the SA rate (0, 1, 2 and 3%), cement dosage (300 and 350) and mixing water rate (0,40 and 0,45). The study determined that thermal insulation would be optimum at levels (3, 350 and 0,40). It was determined that (3%) SA substitution in lightweight concrete improved the thermal conductivity value (46%), increased its porosity (31,48%) and caused a decrease in temperatures (9,72 MPa). In the characterization studies: It is evaluated that SA is hydrophobic and has good adsorption properties, that it consists of communities all over the SA in the concrete, and that multicrystals in the concrete increase with the proliferation of SA, and this increase causes a decrease in its physical breakage. In thermogravimetic analysis, while the mass loss observed at 1000 °C was 27% with 0% SA change, it was observed that this value decreased to 21% with 3% SA change, and this was considered as an indicator that the increase in SA change increased the thermal durability of concrete. In addition, it is considered that SA has a great impact on obtaining high quality lightweight concrete and waste BT will positively affect the regional economy
Investigation of the relationships between the self-confidence and moral maturity levels of high school students who do and do not do physical exercise

Araştırmada ayrıca lise öğrencilerinin özgüvenleri ve ahlaki olgunluk düzeylerinin onların cinsiyetine, sınıf düzeyine, lise türüne, akademik başarı durumlarına, anne eğitim düzeyine, baba eğitim düzeyine, aylık gelire, düzenli fiziksel egzersiz yapmaya, annenin düzenli fiziksel egzersiz yapmasına ve babanın düzenli fiziksel egzersiz yapmasına göre farklılaşıp farklılaşmadığı da incelenmiştir. Araştırmada nicel araştırma yöntemleri ve ilişkisel tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın verileri Erzincan ilinde milli eğitim bakanlığına bağlı liselerde eğitim gören 435 lise öğrencisinden anket tekniğiyle toplanmıştır. Anket formunda kişisel bilgi formu, özgüven ölçeği ve ahlaki olgunluk ölçeği yer almıştır. Araştırmanın bulguları lise öğrencilerinin hem iç özgüven ve hem de dış özgüven düzeyleriyle ahlaki olgunluk düzeyleri arasında pozitif yönlü ve anlamlı ilişkiler olduğunu göstermiştir. Bulgular ayrıca lise öğrencilerinin özgüven düzeylerinin sınıf düzeyine, lise türüne, anne eğitim düzeyine, baba eğitim düzeyine ve gelir düzeyine göre farklılaşmadığını, ancak cinsiyete, akademik başarı durumuna, fiziksel egzersiz yapma durumuna, annenin fiziksel egzersiz yapma durumuna ve babanın fiziksel egzersiz yapma durumuna göre anlamlı biçimde farklılaştığını göstermiştir. Lise öğrencilerinin ahlaki olgunluk düzeylerinin sınıf düzeyine ve annenin ve babanın düzenli fiziksel egzersiz yapma durumuna göre anlamlı biçimde farklılaşmadığı, ancak cinsiyete, lise türüne, anne eğitim düzeyine, baba eğitim düzeyine, gelir düzeyine, akademik başarı durumuna ve düzenli fiziksel egzersiz yapma durumuna göre anlamlı biçimde farklılaştığı tespit edilmiştir.This study aimed to examine the relationship between the self-confidence and moral maturity levels of high school students who do and do not do physical exercise. The study also found that high school students' self-confidence and moral maturity levels were affected by their gender, grade level, high school type, academic achievement, mother's education level, father's education level, monthly income, regular physical exercise, mother's regular physical exercise and father's regular physical exercise. It was also examined whether they differed or not. Quantitative research methods and relational screening model were used in the research. The data of the research were collected by survey technique from 435 high school students studying in high schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education in Erzincan province. The survey form included a personal information form, self-confidence scale and moral maturity scale. The findings of the research showed that there are positive and significant relationships between high school students' internal self-confidence and external self-confidence levels and their moral maturity levels. The findings also show that the self-confidence levels of high school students do not differ according to class level, high school type, mother's education level, father's education level and income level, but there is a significant difference according to gender, academic success level, physical exercise status, mother's physical exercise status and father's physical exercise status. Brain MRI high resolution image creation and segmentation with the new GAN method
Brain magnetic resonance imaging segmentation is a recent and still popular research area. Good and accurate segmentation results play an important role in the diagnosis of cancer or other brain diseases. In this article, a novel Generative Adversarial Network architecture is proposed for brain magnetic resonance imaging segmentation. The proposed method is called SSimDCL (Supervised SimDCL). Four studies were conducted in this article. In the first study, the SSimDCL method on the two-dimensional brain magnetic resonance imaging dataset was compared with the current state-of-art architectures CycleGAN, CUT, FastCUT, DCLGAN, and SimDCL. In the second study, the dataset resolution was improved. In the third study, being measured the efficiency of the newly created dataset. And the SSimDCL is trained for both the dataset with increased resolution and the normal dataset, and the results are obtained. In the fourth study, the results of the SSimDCL and the VolBrain brain magnetic resonance imaging segmentation results, which are widely used today, are included. When VolBrain segmentation and SSimDCL segmentation are compared. The results were compared both visually and metrically. Fre ' chet Inception Distance (FID), Kernel Inception Distance (KID), Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) and Learned Perceptual Image Patch Similarity (LPIPS) were used as measurement metrics. The Jaccard and Dice similarity metrics were also used in the analysis. It was observed that the SSimDCL give satisfactory results in all four studies. Investigation of the effects of imagery practices on target-aimed punch, motor imagery skills and proprioceptive senses of karate players
Lisansüstü Eğitim Enstitüsü, Beden Eğitimi ve Spor Ana Bilim Dalı, Beden Eğitimi ve Spor Bilim DalıBu araştırmanın temel amacı imgeleme çalışmalarının karatecilerin hedefe yönelik yumruk vuruşları, motor imgeleme becerileri ve proprioseptif duyuları üzerine etkisinin incelenmesidir. Amaç doğrultusunda 15-17 yaş aralığında 31 karate sporcusuyla çalışılmıştır. Araştırma grubu deney ve kontrol grubu olmak üzere ikiye ayrılıp deney grubuna 8 hafta motor imgeleme çalışması uygulanmıştır. Kontrol grubu ise imgeleme çalışmaları yapılmadan yalnızca karate antrenmanı yapmıştır. Bu süreç içerisinde 4 farklı zamanda ölçümler alınmıştır. Parametrelerin ölçümlerinde 3 ayrı ölçüm yapılmıştır. Bunlar; hedefe yönelik yumruk vuruş performans ölçümü, repozisyon testi ve hareketi imgeleme ölçeği uygulanmıştır. Araştırma modeli olarak eşitlenmemiş kontrol gruplu modelden faydalanılmıştır. Verilerin analiz sürecinde ise ilk olarak ilgili verilere ilişkin basıklık ve çarpıklık değerleri hesaplanmıştır. Daha sonra her iki araştırma grubunun da ön test ve son test değerlerine ilişkin Independent Samples t-Testi uygulanmış ve bu testlere bağlı farklılık rastlanan parametrelere ANCOVA uygulanmıştır. Ölçümler arasındaki farklılıkların sınanması adına ise parametrik testlerden Repeated Measur ANOVA ve Paired Simples t-Testi kullanılmıştır. Aynı zamanda bu testlere bağlı değerlerin Bonferroni düzeltmeleri yapılmıştır. Analizlerin neticesinde motor imgeleme çalışmalarının karate sporcularının hedefe yönelik vuruş performans testi puanlarını iyileştirdiği, kontrol grubunda da araştırma sürecinde uygulanan karate antrenmanlarının bu performansı geliştirdiği, ancak son test ölçümleri arasında deney grubunun daha başarılı bir ortalama puan elde ettiği tespit edilmiştir. Geciktirilmiş son test ölçümleri incelendiğinde ise elde edilen puan ortalamasının son test değerlerine oranla daha başarısız olduğu bulunmuştur. Araştırma gruplarının proprioseptif duyu ölçümlerinde deney grubu gibi kontrol grubunun da ortalama puanlarında gelişim olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Fakat son test ölçümleri arasında deney grubunun daha başarılı bir ortalama puan elde ettiği tespit edilmiştir. Geciktirilmiş son test ölçümleri incelendiğinde ise karatecilerin omuz eklem duyusu ölçümlerinden elde edilen puan ortalamasının son test değerlerine oranla daha başarısız olduğu bulunmuştur. Son olarak hareketi imgeleme ölçeğine ilişkin hem deney hem de kontrol grubunun kinestetik imgeleme ve görsel imgeleme ölçümlerinde deney grubu gibi kontrol grubunun da ortalama puanlarında gelişim olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Ancak son test ölçümleri arasında deney grubunun daha başarılı bir ortalama puan elde ettiği ve bu ortalama puanların neredeyse tam puana yakın değerlerden oluştuğu tespit edilmiştir. Sonuç olarak kumite antrenmanlarına paralel olarak uygulanan motor imgeleme çalışmalarının karate sporcularının hedefe yönelik yumruk vuruşlarını, motor imgeleme becerilerini ve proprioseptif duyularını geliştirebileceği söylenebilir.The main purpose of this research is to examine the effects of imagery exercises on target-oriented punch strokes, motor imagery skills and proprioceptive senses of karate players. For the purpose, 31 karate athletes between the ages of 15-17 were studied. The research group was divided into two as experimental and control groups, and motor imagery was applied to the experimental group for 8 weeks. The control group, on the other hand, did only karate training without imagery studies. During this process, measurements were taken at 4 different times. Three separate measurements were made in the measurements of the parameters. These; target-oriented punch punch performance measurement, reposition test and movement imagery scale were applied. The unequalized control group model was used as the research model. In the analysis process of the data, firstly, the kurtosis and skewness values of the related data were calculated. Then, Independent Samples t-Test was applied regarding the pre-test and post-test values of both research groups and ANCOVA was applied to the parameters found to be different depending on these tests. In order to test the differences between the measurements, Parametric tests Repeated Measur ANOVA and Paired Simples t-Test were used. At the same time, Bonferroni corrections were made for the values related to these tests. As a result of the analyzes, it was determined that motor imagery studies improved the target-oriented hitting performance test scores of karate athletes, and the karate training applied during the research process improved this performance in the control group, but the experimental group achieved a more successful average score among post-test measurements. When the delayed post-test measurements were examined, it was found that the average score obtained was more unsuccessful than the post-test values. In the proprioceptive sensory measurements of the research groups, it was concluded that there was an improvement in the mean scores of the control group as well as the experimental group. However, it was determined that the experimental group achieved a more successful average score among the post-test measurements. When the delayed post-test measurements were examined, it was found that the average score obtained from the shoulder joint sense measurements of the karate players was more unsuccessful than the post-test values. Finally, it was concluded that there was an improvement in the mean scores of the control group as well as the experimental group in the kinesthetic imagery and visual imagery measurements of both the experimental and control groups regarding the movement imagery scale. However, it was determined that the experimental group achieved a more successful average score among the post-test measurements, and these average scores were almost close to the full score. As a result, it can be said that motor imagery exercises applied in parallel with kumite training can improve the target-oriented punch strokes, motor imagery skills and proprioceptive senses of karate athletes
AS A NATIONAL SCHOOL OF PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION TODAIE'S GRADUATE EDUCATION ACADEMICS AND STUDENTS' PERSPECTIVE
Public administrations are significant in providing essential public services such as justice, security, defense, and health that the market cannot fully meet and in observing the public interest. This study carried out within the scope of the theories of Tacit Knowledge and Institutional Knowledge, aimed to reveal the perceptions of the academicians working in the institution and the public personnel studying in this institution regarding the graduate education of Public Administration Institute for Türkiye and the Middle East, a national public administration school. The data obtained from the study with the phenomenology design of the qualitative research method and the academicians and public personnel with different academic formations working in other fields of the Türkiye public bureaucracy were analyzed by content analysis. As a result of the study, it is revealed that Public Administration Institute for Türkiye and the Middle East has a public administration laboratory function in disclosing the tacit knowledge in public institutions and producing high-level knowledge through the interaction of students from different disciplines and other countries. It has been understood that the systematic and multidisciplinary training of public personnel, especially senior managers, with the perspective of public interest and public service, contributes to their internalization of a strategic and general view in their institutions and thus to making the right decisions with the competence to see the big picture
