Tangential velocity and water vortex structure behaviour based on cylindrical-shaped basin's design parameters for gravitational vortex power plants

In this system, energy is produced as a result of the interaction of water coming from an inlet canal with the turbine by creating a vortex in circular/conical-shaped structures. This interaction is based on an assumption that the water flow rate in a basin coincides with the tangential velocity on the turbine propeller. In this case, it is essential to investigate numerous geometric design parameters of the cylinder basin and their effects on vortex formation with the help of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). Here, based on the CFD principles, the behaviour of various geometrical parameters on the vortex and tangential velocities in the basin are investigated separately with the help of Ansys Fluent, without using any turbine propeller. For a certain inlet flow velocity and head, different tunable geometric parameters for the gravitational water vortex plant with a cylindrical basin are inlet canal length, basin diameter, basin height and outlet diameter, respectively. Interpretation of Ahkam Verses Concerning Worship in Qurtubî's Work Al-Câmi'li Ahkâmi'l-Kur'an
Lisansüstü Eğitim Enstitüsü, Temel İslam Bilimleri Ana Bilim DalıKur'ân-ı Kerim' de ibadet, ahlak ve muamelata dair birçok hüküm bulunmaktadır. İslâm'ı kabul edenler için bütün bu hükümler bağlayıcı ve yerine getirilmesi gereklidir. İlgili unsurların Kur'ân içerisinden tespit edilmesi ve bir kategoriye tâbi tutulması; muhatabın emirleri anlaması ve tatbik etmesi açısından son derece önemlidir. Çalışmamızda Kurtubî'nin el-Câmi? li-ahkâmi'l-Kur?ân adlı tefsirindeki ibadete dair açıklamalarını ve yorumlarını ele almaya çalıştık. Kurtubî'nin tefsiri ahkâm alanında yapılmış en önemli çalışmalardan biri olarak değerlendirilmektedir. İçerisinde kıraat alanından âyetlerin ahkâmına kadar detaylı bilgiler bulunmaktadır. Diğer taraftan ibâdet, Müslümanlar için son derece önemlidir. Kur'ân'da ibâdete dair birçok âyet bulunmakta, bu âyetlerin bir bütün olarak değerlendirilmesi önem arzetmektedir. Çalışmamızda ibâdetin fıkhi boyutu yanında manevi yönünede temas etmeye çalıştık. Aktardığımız bilgiler gösteriyor ki ibadetlerin anlam, amaç ve ruhani boyutu zahiri boyutuna anlam katmakta ve ibadet edende vicdan ve duyarlılık oluşturmaktadır. Kurtubî ve tefsiri her yönüyle incelemeye tâbi tutulacak hususiyetler barındırmaktadır. Müfessir, ders aldığı hocalar, bıraktığı eserler değerlendirildiğinde Kurtubî fikirlerine önem verilmesi gereken âlimlerdendir. En tanınmış eseri diyebileceğimiz el-Câmi' li-ahkâmi'l-Kur'ân adlı tefsiri de Kur'ân'ın hüküm yönünü ön plana çıkarması açısından dikkatleri üzerine çekmektedir. Saydığımız bu özelliklere bir de ibâdet hayatının Müslümanlar için önemi eklenince çalışmamızın ehemmiyeti anlaşılır hale gelecektir. Çalışmamızın belki de en önemli kısmı çok hacimli bir eser olan el-Câmi' li-ahkâmi'l-Kur?ân adlı tefsirin ibâdete dair değerlendirmelerini bir araya getirmek olacaktır. Böylece hem konulara hem de konular hakkındaki değerlendirmelere ulaşma imkânı kolaylaşacaktır. Yaptığımız bu çalışmada Kurtubî'nin ibadet hayatıyla ilgili yorumlarını, değerlendirmelerini ele almaya çalıştık. Konular üzerindeki değerlendirmelerin doğru bir şekilde yapılabilmesi için yeri geldiğinde farklı görüş ve yorumlarla konuyu destekledik. Amacımız; Kur'ân'ın ibâdet hayatına dair emirlerini Kurtubî'nin bakış açısıyla anlamaya çalışmaktır. Bunun yanında şunu da belirtmemiz gerekir ki çalışmamız esnasında ele aldığımız konuların her biri başlı başına bir çalışma yapılabilecek alanlardır. İslâmın ilmi mirasının ne kadar geniş olduğunu gösteren bu durum, yeri geldiğinde Kurtubî'nin yorumlarıyla iktifa etmemizi mecburi kılmıştır. Tezimizi iki ana bölüme ayırdık. Birinci bölümde, ibadet kavramıyla ilgili genel bir değerlendirmede bulunduktan sonra bedeni ibâdetler hakkında Kurtubî'nin yorumlarını aktardık. İkinci bölümde ise Kurtubî'nin mali ibâdetler hakkındaki görüşlerini ele aldık. Çalışmamız literal tarama yöntemiyle yazılmıştır. Kurtubî'nin görüşlerinin esas alındığı tezimizde, müfessirin farklı görüşleri de zikretmesinden dolayı, yeri geldiğince görüşler hakkında yorumlarda bulunulmaya çalışılmıştır.There are many provisions in the Holy Quran regarding worship, morality and actions. All these provisions are binding and must be fulfilled for those who accept Islam. Identifying the relevant elements within the Quran and subjecting them to a category; It is extremely important for the addressee to understand and implement the orders. In our study, we tried to discuss Qurtubi's explanations and comments about worship in his commentary titled al-Câmi? li-ahkâmi'l-Kur?ân. Qurtubi's commentary is considered to be one of the most important works done in the field of judgments. It contains detailed information from the field of recitation to the provisions of the verses. On the other hand, worship is extremely important for Muslims. There are many verses about worship in the Quran, and it is important to evaluate these verses as a whole. In our study, we tried to touch upon the spiritual aspect of worship as well as its fiqh dimension. The information we have conveyed shows that the meaning, purpose and spiritual dimension of worship adds meaning to the external dimension and creates conscience and sensitivity in the worshiper. Qurtubi and his commentary have characteristics that should be examined in every aspect. When the commentator, the teachers he took lessons from, and the works he left are evaluated, Qurtubi is one of the scholars whose ideas should be given importance. His commentary titled el-Câmi' li-ahkâmi'l-Kur'ân, which can be considered his most well-known work, also attracts attention in terms of highlighting the judgment aspect of the Quran. When the importance of the life of worship for Muslims is added to the features we have mentioned, the importance of our work will become clear. Perhaps the most important part of our study will be to bring together the evaluations of the commentary on worship called el-Câmi' li-ahkâmi'l-Kur?ân, which is a multi-volume work. Thus, it will be easier to access both the topics and the evaluations about the topics. In this study, we tried to discuss Kurtubi's comments and evaluations about his prayer life. We supported the issue with different opinions and comments when necessary, so that the evaluations on the issues could be made correctly. Our aim; It is to try to understand the commands of the Quran regarding the life of worship from Qurtubi's perspective. In addition, we should also point out that each of the topics we discussed during our study are areas that can be studied on their own. This situation, which shows how broad the scientific heritage of Islam is, has made it necessary for us to be satisfied with Qurtubi's comments when necessary. We divided our thesis into two main parts. In the first part, after making a general evaluation of the concept of worship, we conveyed Qurtubi's comments about physical worship. In the second part, we discussed Qurtubi's views on financial worship. Our study was written with the literal scanning method. In our thesis, which is based on Qurtubi's views, we have tried to make comments on the views as much as possible, since the commentator also mentioned different views

Evaluation of nurses' attitudes and behaviors regarding narcotic drug safety and addiction: a descriptive cross-sectional study
Background By evaluating nurses' attitudes and behaviors regarding narcotic drug safety and addiction, effective strategies need to be developed for combating addiction in healthcare institutions. This study, aimed at providing an insight into patient and staff safety issues through the formulation of health policies, aimed to evaluate nurses' attitudes and behaviors regarding narcotic drug safety and addiction. Methods The study was conducted in a descriptive cross-sectional design. It was carried out with 191 nurses in a public hospital between March 2023 and August 2023. Data were collected through face-to-face interviews, gathering socio-demographic information and utilizing the Addictive Substance Attitude Scale. The data were analyzed using independent sample t-tests, one-way ANOVA tests, and regression analysis (P < .001 and p < .05). Results The average age of the participants was determined to be 36.58 +/- 8.40. It was reported by 85.3% of nurses that narcotic drug follow-ups in their units were conducted according to procedures. In the study, it was found that 63.9% of nurses did not know the procedure to be followed towards a healthcare professional identified as a narcotic substance addict. The total mean score of the Addictive Substance Attitude Scale of nurses participating in the study was 74.27 +/- 14.70. A significant difference was found between the total scores of the scale and the level of education of nurses, the follow-up status of the drugs in the unit where they work, their status of receiving narcotic drug addiction training, and their routine use of the half-dose drug disposal form (p < .05). Conclusions The findings of this study underscore the importance of evaluating nurses' attitudes and behaviors regarding narcotic drug safety and addiction. These results indicate the need for nursing administrators, particularly in terms of patient and staff safety, to adopt more effective policies and strategies
Which tourist type cares more about environmental sustainability? a quantitative research
This research aims to reveal the impact of tourist types (explorer, adventurer, organized mass, and drifter) on environmental sustainability. In addition, the primary objective of the research is to determine which type of tourist cares about environmental sustainability and at what level. The research was designed according to the relational screening model, one of the quantitative research approaches. The study sample consists of 491 domestic tourists who stayed in a hotel in Turkiye last year. Data were collected using tourist types and environmental sustainability scales. The study found a moderate and significant relationship between explorer, adventurer, organized mass, and drifter tourist types and environmental sustainability. Considering the relative importance levels of the variables used in the study within the scope of hierarchical regression analysis, it was determined that adventurer, explorer, drifter, and organized mass tourist types were significant predictors of environmental sustainability, respectively. ©2024, IGI Global. Free Vibration and Buckling Analysis of Porous Two-Directional Functionally Graded Beams Using a Higher-Order Finite Element Model
A new type of functionally graded material (FGM) with material properties varying in two or three directions is needed to obtain materials with better mechanical properties and high-temperature resistance for use in the military, aerospace, automotive, and engineering structures. Considering the porosity that occurs during the production of these materials, it has become necessary to examine the free vibration and buckling behaviors. Therefore, this study investigated free vibration and buckling analysis of porous two-directional functionally graded (2D FG) beams subject to various boundary conditions. A high-order finite element based on parabolic shear deformation theory (PSDT) is proposed to solve this problem. Three types of porosity distributions were used in the study (FGP-1, FGP-2, and FGP-3). The governing equations are derived from Lagrange's principle. The material change in the beam volume in both directions is defined by a power-law rule. The dimensionless fundamental frequencies and critical buckling loads are obtained for various boundary conditions, gradation exponents (p(x), p(z)), porosity coefficient (e), porosity distribution, and slenderness (L/h). The numerical results obtained with the proposed higher-order finite element are compatible with the literature
Synergistic Strategies for Overcoming Salt Stress in Strawberry Farming: The Use of Organic Fertilizers and Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR)
The study was carried out under salt-stress conditions, and three non-microbial commercial organic fertilizers purchased from Humintech GmbH (Grevenbroich, Germany) were applied to the soil for strawberry plants. The three promoters were Fulvagra (R), based on fulvic acid, Liqhumus (R), based on humic acid, and Microsense Root (R), also based on humic acid. Treatment with Fulvagra (R) resulted in a remarkable 69.90% increase in average fruit weight and a 39.52% increase in yield in strawberry plants. These improvements remained significant when combined with plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR), resulting in a 61.81% increase in fruit weight and a 45.21% increase in yield. Liqhumus (R) treatment resulted in a significant 49.95% increase in fruit weight and a 39.30% increase in fruit yield. The introduction of PGPR further enhanced these effects by increasing fruit weight by 87.70% and yield by 63.84%. The Microsense Root (R) treatment showed 31.07 and 61.87% improvements for the respective parameters. In conjunction with this treatment, the use of PGPR produced the most significant results, with increases of 121.14 and 65.37% for respective parameters. These results indicate that the combined use of non-microbial commercial organic fertilizers with PGPR leads to higher efficiency and is promising for sustainable agricultural practices, particularly in improving the resistance of strawberry plants to salt-induced stress
Antioxidant Activities of different Peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) Market Types by Spectrophotometric Techniques Combined with Chemometrics
Peanut is rich in oil and protein and has a large content of bioactive constituents consisting of tocopherols, phytosterols, and so on. Generally, Virginia, Spanish, Valencia and Runner market types are grown of peanut. In this study, it is aimed to determine the antioxidant activity, total phenolic content and total flavonoid content of peanuts from four different market types, for the first time, and group them with principal component analysis (PCA) and hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA). For PCA, PC1 and PC2 explained 87.655 % of the total variation and, according to the HCA of peanut samples, two main groups were determined. The total phenolic content changed 1.556 to 2.899 mg GAE/g. The lowest value have seen at Spanish merket type to determine the antioxidant activities of peanut samples were maked FRAP and DPPH assay, the lowest FRAP value (8.136 mu mol FeSO(4)7H(2)O/g sample) was seen at Valencia market type, the highest (14.004 mu mol FeSO(4)7H(2)O/g sample) was seen at Virginia market type. It was determined that the total flavonoid, total phenolic content, and antioxidant activities of the Virginia, Valencia, Spanish, and Runner market types included in the study were different from each other, and the Virginia market type showed superior characteristics compared to the others. The results obtained suggest that Virginia market type may be preferred more especially in peanut cultivation for food uses. It is thought that this study can be a source for future studies by eliminating a deficiency in the literature
Cross-cultural adaptation and psychometric evaluation of the Turkish version of the Smombie Scale for Adolescents
BackgroundSmombie has become an important problem especially in terms of adolescent health. The aim of this study was to translate the Smombie Scale for Adolescents (SSA) into Turkish and to examine its psychometric properties.MethodsThis study has a methodological design. The study was conducted between March and April 2024. The sample of the study consisted of 430 adolescents. The data were collected by using Personal Information Form and SSA. Content Validity Index, Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), test-retest reliability, Cronbach's alpha coefficient, item-total score correlation, 27% upper-lower group item analysis and Hotelling T2 test were used in data analysis.ResultsThe four-factor structure of the scale showed a good fit in CFA (chi-square minimum discrepancy [CMIN] = 187.463, degrees of freedo (DF) = 83, CMIN/DF = 2.259, root mean square error of approximation = 0.054, root mean square residual = 0.033, goodness of fit index = 0.947, adjusted goodness of fit index = 0.923, normed fit index = 0.930, tucker-lewis index = 0.949 and comparative fit index = 0.959). Cronbach's alpha coefficient of the scale was found to be 0.86. The item-total score correlation of the scale was found between 0.212 and 0.721. The test-retest intraclass correlation coefficient of the scale was found to be 0.876.ConclusionsThis study shows that the scale is a reliable tool for assessing adolescents' smombie tendencies. It is thought that the scale will contribute to the protection and development of adolescent health.The authors would like to thank all the individuals for their voluntary participation and valuable contributions to this study
Multifunctional electroless nickel boron composite coatings incorporated by magnesium diboride ceramic particles
In this study, the role of MgB2 in composite coatings is pivotal. Electroless Ni-B plating, a current-free chemical reduction process, deposits nickel-boron coatings. Other than MgB2, reinforcements like SiC, B4C, and so forth are used with Ni-B coatings for improved properties. The research focuses on Ni-B/MgB2 coatings on AISI 4140 steel using electroless deposition and annealing at different temperatures. Initially, the coating appears dense and amorphous, transforming into worm-like structures through crystallization with MgB2. Higher annealing temperatures lead to brush-like, feathery, and oyster mushroom structures, forming crystalline nickel boron compounds and oxide phases due to synergy. Interestingly, the newly introduced phases disrupt friction patterns nonlinearly, which is linked to MgB2's ceramic nature and reinforcement quantity.
