Online Gambling Consumer Behavior: Addiction, Social Stigma, Psychological Distress, and Gender Differences
This study investigates the differences in online gambling addiction, psychological distress, and social stigma considerations between men and women. Furthermore, this study examines the moderating role of gender in the relationship between social stigma and online gambling addiction, and between addiction and psychological distress. This research involved 191 respondents, with 128 men and 63 women. Results showed that men have significantly higher levels of addiction, psychological distress, and consideration of social stigma compared to women. Social stigma has a significant positive effect on addiction, while addiction itself has a positive impact on psychological distress for both genders. However, gender does not moderate these relationships, suggesting that the mechanisms influencing addiction and psychological distress are universal across genders. This study emphasises the need for inclusive preventive interventions, particularly targeting young men, and social support-based and empathetic educational approaches to reduce addictive behaviors and mitigate the psychological consequences of online gambling
The Context of Distraction: Moderating Effects of Academic Discipline and Socioeconomic Status on Cell Phone Multitasking and GPA among Indian Undergraduates
This study investigated how cell phone multitasking (CPM) influences academic performance, measured by Grade Point Average (GPA), among Indian undergraduate students. A total of 476 students from a large private university in Northern India completed a structured survey assessing CPM frequency, socioeconomic status (SES), academic discipline, and institutional phone-use policies. Hierarchical regression analysis was conducted to examine the predictive relationship between CPM and GPA and to test the moderating effects of SES and academic discipline. Results indicated a significant negative association between CPM and GPA (ρ = –0.15, p 0.001), with students who multitasked more frequently exhibiting lower academic performance. In the final regression model, CPM emerged as a statistically significant but modest predictor of GPA (β = –0.06, p 0.05), explaining a small proportion of variance in academic outcomes (ΔR² = 0.035, total R² = 0.130). The effect size was small but significant (ηp² = 0.016, 95% CI [0.000002, 0.0106]). The negative association was stronger among STEM students (ρ = –0.20, p 0.001) and those from lower SES backgrounds (ρ = –0.25, p 0.001), suggesting that both cognitive load and socioeconomic constraints exacerbate the academic costs of multitasking. Furthermore, stricter institutional phone policies mitigated CPM’s adverse impact on GPA. These findings demonstrate that frequent multitasking with mobile phones hinders academic achievement, particularly among students facing higher cognitive demands or limited resources. The study underscores the importance of structured phone-use policies, targeted digital literacy programs, and equitable academic support to help students regulate digital distractions and enhance learning outcomes in higher education contexts
Community-Based Training for Pesantren Cadres in Producing Celery Extract Drinks to Support Hypertension Prevention
Non-communicable diseases are the leading cause of death globally, with hypertension being one of the most prevalent conditions characterized by elevated blood pressure above normal limits. In Sampang Regency, Madura, more than 15,000 hypertension cases were reported in 2022, reflecting significant public health concern. Poor health literacy, high-salt and high-fat dietary habits, and lack of physical activity contribute to the growing incidence. This community service program was conducted at Darussalam Al-Faisholiyah Islamic Boarding School in Sampang, aiming to improve the capacity of pesantren cadres in hypertension prevention through training on producing herbal drinks made from celery extract as a complementary therapy. The program included educational sessions on hypertension, hands-on practice in herbal drink preparation, and pre-test and post-test evaluations. Fifteen pesantren cadres actively participated in the activity. The results showed an increase in participants’ average knowledge scores from 7.4 to 8.4, indicating better understanding and practical skills. The program successfully enhanced health literacy, promoted healthy lifestyle awareness, and empowered the pesantren community to engage in preventive health practices. This initiative has the potential to be replicated in other pesantren to expand its preventive impact on hypertension, with continued mentoring and cadre monitoring recommended for sustainability
Pentingnya membangun tim yang solid untuk meningkatkan strategi dan praktik dalam kewirausahaan di SMK Al-Islah [The Importance of Building a Solid Team to Enhance Strategies and Practices in Entrepreneurship at SMK Al-Islah]
Abstract. Building a solid team and effective leadership are key to entrepreneurial success, especially in vocational education environments such as SMK Al-Islah. Entrepreneurial success does not solely depend on brilliant ideas but also on the ability to form and manage teams effectively. Building a solid team requires a strategy for recruiting members with complementary competencies, as well as fostering a sustainable work culture and group collaboration. This approach not only enhances technical skills but also communication and conflict resolution abilities. Understanding strong entrepreneurial team management also prepares students to face social and economic challenges and cultivates a high level of social awareness. The community service programme at SMK Al-Islah Surabaya demonstrates an increase in students' understanding of leadership and team management concepts, as evidenced by improved post-test results and students' enthusiasm in discussions and practical projects. Practical training, such as creating organisational charts and job descriptions for a fictional company, significantly strengthens students' understanding of team management, self-development, and leadership. Through understanding self-leadership, building a solid team, the main functions of team management in running a business, and the main aspects of entrepreneurial leadership, students are expected to become economically competitive, socially conscious, and innovative entrepreneurs. Abstrak. Membangun tim yang solid dan kepemimpinan yang efektif adalah kunci keberhasilan kewirausahaan, terutama di lingkungan pendidikan kejuruan seperti SMK Al-Islah. Keberhasilan wirausaha tidak hanya bergantung pada ide cemerlang, tetapi juga pada kemampuan membentuk dan mengelola tim secara efektif. Pembentukan tim yang solid memerlukan strategi pencarian anggota dengan kompetensi yang saling melengkapi, serta pembangunan budaya kerja bersama yang berkelanjutan dan kolaborasi kelompok. Pendekatan ini tidak hanya meningkatkan keterampilan teknis, tetapi juga kemampuan komunikasi dan penyelesaian konflik. Pemahaman tentang manajemen tim kewirausahaan yang kuat juga mempersiapkan siswa untuk menghadapi tantangan sosial dan ekonomi, serta menumbuhkan kepedulian sosial yang tinggi. Program pengabdian masyarakat di SMK Al-Islah Surabaya menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman siswa siswi terhadap konsep kepemimpinan dan manajemen tim, yang terlihat dari peningkatan hasil post-test dan antusiasme siswa dalam diskusi serta proyek praktis. Pelatihan berbasis praktik langsung, seperti membuat bagan organisasi dan deskripsi pekerjaan perusahaan fiktif, secara signifikan memperkuat pemahaman siswa tentang manajemen tim, pengembangan diri, dan kepemimpinan. Melalui pemahaman tentang memimpin diri sendiri, membangun tim yang solid, fungsi utama manajemen tim dalam menjalankan usaha, dan aspek utama kepemimpinan kewirausahaan, siswa diharapkan dapat menjadi wirausahawan yang kompetitif secara ekonomi, peduli sosial, dan inovatif
Edukasi Kewajiban Perpajakan dan Pemanfaatan Sistem Informasi Perpajakan untuk Meningkatkan Generasi Sadar Pajak [Tax Obligation Education and the Utilization of Tax Information Systems to Develop a Tax-Conscious Generation]
State revenue from taxes has not yet reached its full potential due to non-compliance among taxpayers. Taxpayer compliance can be influenced by the low level of public understanding regarding tax obligations and tax information systems. To create a tax-conscious generation, tax counseling activities are necessary. The purpose of this Community Service Program (PKM) is to improve the understanding of students at SMAN 1 Bangsal regarding tax obligations and tax information systems in order to increase their awareness of their tax responsibilities. The PKM activities were carried out using a counseling method for 11th-grade students of SMAN 1 Bangsal by the PKM team from the Accounting Study Program of UNUSA. The implementation method consisted of three stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The results after the counseling show an increase in students’ knowledge about taxation. The conclusion of this PKM activity is that tax socialization can enhance the understanding of SMAN 1 Bangsal students about tax obligations and tax information systems, thereby helping to create a tax-conscious generation. Abstrak. Penerimaan negara berasal dari pajak belum maksimal akibat wajib pajak yang tidak patuh. Kepatuhan wajib pajak dapat disebabkan oleh tingkat pemahaman masyarakat tentang kewajiban perpajakan dan system informasi perpajakan rendah. Untuk menciptakan generasi sadar pajak perlu diadakan penyuluhan. Tujuan PKM adalah meningkatkan pemahaman siswa SMAN 1 Bangsal terhadap kewajiban perpajakan dan system informasi perpajakan agar meningkatkan kesadaran tentang kewajiban perpajakan mereka. Kegiatan PKM dilakukan dengan metode penyuluhan kepada siswa kelas XI SMAN 1 Bangsal oleh tim PKM prodi Akuntansi UNUSA. Metode pelaksanaan yang digunakan terdiri dari tiga tahap, yaitu: tahap persiapan, tahap pelaksanaan, dan tahap evaluasi. Hasil yang didapat setelah penyuluhan adalah pengetahuan siswa tentang pajak meningkat. Kesimpulan dari kegiatan PKM ini adalah sosialisasi pajak dapat meningkatkan pemahaman siswa SMAN 1 Bangsal tentang kewajiban perpajakan dan system informasi perpajakan sehingga dapat menciptakan generasi sadar pajak
Peningkatan Karakter Religius dan Literasi Finansial di Pondok Pesantren An Nahdhoh Malaysia [Enhancing Religious Character and Financial Literacy at An Nahdhoh Islamic Boarding School, Malaysia]
This community service initiative was carried out at An Nahdhoh Islamic Boarding School in Malaysia with the main objective of strengthening students’ religious character and financial literacy. The purposes of this program are: (1) to reinforce religious character at An Nahdhoh Islamic Boarding School, Malaysia, and (2) to provide financial literacy counseling for the students of An Nahdhoh, Malaysia. The activities were implemented by delivering education on character building and financial literacy to the students. The program employed educational and participatory approaches, including religious lectures, group discussions, financial management simulations, and personal mentoring. The implementation process began with a needs assessment, followed by the execution of community service activities, evaluation of the activities, and follow‑up actions. The results show a significant improvement. Pretest and posttest assessments indicate that both religious character and financial literacy increased from a “good” level (score 3 out of 4) to a “very good” level (score 4 out of 4). Qualitatively, positive behavioral changes were clearly observed. The students understood what was conveyed by the community service team during the educational sessions on religious character building and financial literacy. It is recommended that a financial literacy handbook for students be developed for future programs so that it can be applied in daily life at the boarding school, enabling students to become proficient in managing their finances. Abstrak. Inisiatif pengabdian masyarakat ini dilaksanakan di Pondok Pesantren An Nahdhoh, Malaysia, dengan tujuan utama meningkatkan karakter religius dan literasi keuangan siswa. Tujuan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah 1) untuk memberikan penguatan karakter relegius di pondok pesantren An Nahdhoh Malaysia, 2) untuk memberikan penyuluhan literasi finansial santri An Nahdhoh Malaysia. Metode kegiatan ini dilakukan dengan meberikan edukasi tentang pendidikan karakter dan literasi finansial santri An Nahdhoh Malaysia. Program ini menggunakan pendekatan edukatif dan partisipatif, meliputi ceramah agama, diskusi kelompok, simulasi manajemen keuangan, serta pendampingan personal. Proses pelaksanaan dimulai dengan asesmen kebutuhan, pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat dan evalasi kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat serta tindak lanjut kegiatan. Berdasarkan hasil menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan. Penilaian pretest dan posttest memperlihatkan bahwa baik karakter religius maupun literasi keuangan meningkat dari tingkat “baik” (skor 3 dari 4) menjadi “sangat baik” (skor 4 dari 4). Secara kualitatif, perubahan perilaku positif tampak jelas. Santri memahami apa yang telah di sampaikan oleh tim pengabdian masyarakat saat kegiatan edukasi pendidika karakter relegis dan literasi finansial. Rekomendasi untuk kegiatan selanjutnya perlu dibuatkan buku untuk literasi finansial santri agar bisa diterapkan dalam kehidupan di pondok pesantren sehingga santri cakap dalam mengelola keuangan
Dynamics of Parenting Styles on the Development of Dark Personality Traits: A Narrative Review
The main focus of this narrative review is to reveal an explanation of how certain parenting styles impact the development of certain dark personality traits in individuals, as well as identify various forms of undesirable behavior as outcomes of dark personality traits. Researchers agree that in addition to genetic factors, an individual’s dark personality is influenced by environmental factors. Based on a review of the literature, the dynamics of the influence of parenting styles on the development of dark personality traits in individuals can be explained through the perspectives of evolutionary psychology theory, life history theory, self-determination theory, and social learning theory. In addition, it can be concluded that some outcomes of dark personality are in the form of various types of undesirable behavior
Produk Porang untuk menjaga Kesehatan di Caturharjo, Pandak, Bantul Yogyakarta (Porang Products to Maintain Health in Caturharjo, Pandak, Bantul Yogyakarta)
Tim Omega 3 prodi Teknik Kimia UAD telah melaksanakan kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masysrakat (PKM) di Kalurahan Caturharjo, Pandak, Bantul, Yogyakarta. ibu-ibu pejabat dan penggerak PKK kalurahan menjadi target PKM. PKM fokus pada sosialisasi porang, produk-produk porang, pembuatan konyaku dan manfaat porang untuk kesehatan. Kegiatan ini berhasil dilaksanakan. Berdasarkan hasil pengolahan kuisioner 94,7% peserta menyatakan puas dan mendapat pengetahuan baru. Kegiatan ini diharapkan menambah pengetahuan peserta mengenai porang dan produk -produknya serta manfaat kesehatan mengkonsumsi produk porang. Mie porang yang rendah kandungan gula dan tinggi serat untuk diet karbohidrat dapat dijadikan produk kuliner berdampingan dengan produk lokal mie lethek sehingga pasar kuliner mie di Kalurahan Caturharjo makin meluas.Abstract. The Omega 3 Team of the UAD Chemical Engineering study program has carried out Community Service (PKM) activities in Caturharjo Village, Pandak District, Bantul, Yogyakarta. The targets of PKM are the mothers of officials and PKK activists of the village. PKM is focused on the socialization of porang, porang products, making konyaku and the benefits of porang for health. This activity has been carried out well. Based on the results of the questionnaire processing, 94.7% of participants stated that they were satisfied and gained new knowledge. This activity is expected to increase participants' knowledge about porang and its products as well as the health benefits of consuming porang products. Porang noodles which are low in sugar and high in fiber for a carbohydrate diet can be used as a culinary product to accompany local lethek noodles so that the culinary noodle market in Caturharjo Village will expand
Pelatihan pengujian website di PT. Abisakti Surya Megakon menggunakan Gtmetrix (Website Testing Training at PT. Abisakti Surya Megakon Using GTmetrix)
ABSTRAKPengujian performa website menjadi faktor krusial dalam memastikan pengalaman pengguna yang optimal. PT. Abisakti Surya Megakon menghadapi tantangan dalam memastikan kecepatan dan efisiensi website mereka. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pelatihan penggunaan GTmetrix sebagai alat evaluasi performa website guna meningkatkan efisiensi dan responsivitasnya. Berbeda dengan penelitian sebelumnya yang lebih fokus pada aspek teknis pengujian website secara mandiri, penelitian ini menawarkan pendekatan pelatihan berbasis praktik dengan studi kasus nyata pada website perusahaan. Dari segi novelty, penelitian ini menekankan penerapan langsung hasil analisis GTmetrix dalam konteks bisnis perusahaan, bukan hanya teori optimasi performa website. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman peserta terhadap metrik kinerja website serta penerapan strategi optimasi yang lebih efektif. Dengan demikian, pelatihan ini diharapkan dapat menjadi solusi bagi perusahaan dalam meningkatkan kualitas website mereka secara berkelanjutan. Abstract. Website performance testing is a crucial factor in ensuring an optimal user experience. PT. Abisakti Surya Megakon faces challenges in ensuring the speed and efficiency of their website. This research aims to provide training on the use of GTmetrix as a tool for evaluating website performance to enhance its efficiency and responsiveness. Unlike previous studies that focused more on the technical aspects of independent website testing, this research offers a practical training approach with real case studies on the company's website. In terms of novelty, this study emphasizes the direct application of GTmetrix analysis results within the business context of the company, rather than merely focusing on theoretical website performance optimization. The training results indicate an increased understanding among participants regarding website performance metrics and the implementation of more effective optimization strategies. Thus, this training is expected to serve as a solution for the company in sustainably improving the quality of their website
Animated Video Strategy and Positive Reinforcement for Toilet Training Children Aged 1-3 Years in Saung Naga Village [Strategi Video Animasi dan Penguatan Positif untuk Toilet Training Anak 1–3 Tahun di Desa Saung Naga]
Abstract. In a previous community service activity conducted in the working area of Puskesmas Tanjung Agung, children aged 1–3 years were found to be unprepared for toilet training. A total of 33.4% of children were unable to verbally express their need to urinate or defecate, and were not yet able to communicate this need in the bathroom. Additionally, 86.7% of children were unable to remove their lower garments independently. Parents, especially mothers, had not received any education on positive reinforcement techniques and modeling through animated videos as a medium for toilet training. This activity aimed to increase maternal knowledge and provide hands-on experience in implementing toilet training strategies through modified positive reinforcement and modeling using animated videos. The evaluation results showed an 80.7% increase in maternal knowledge after the activity. Mothers also gained practical experience by using star charts as a form of positive reinforcement and animated videos as a modeling medium. This strategy proved effective, as evidenced by the success of participating children in achieving all seven indicators of successful toilet training. In conclusion, this community service activity successfully enhanced maternal knowledge and skills in applying modified positive reinforcement techniques and modeling using animated videos to train children aged 1–3 years in toilet training. Abstrak. Pada kegiatan pengabdian sebelumnya di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Tanjung Agung, ditemukan anak usia 1–3 tahun yang belum siap menjalani toilet training. Sebanyak 33,4% anak belum mampu mengungkapkan keinginan buang air kecil (BAK) atau buang air besar (BAB) secara verbal, dan belum dapat menyampaikannya di kamar mandi. Selain itu, 86,7% anak belum mampu membuka pakaian bawah secara mandiri. Belum pernah diberikan edukasi kepada orang tua, khususnya ibu, mengenai teknik penguatan positif dan modeling melalui video animasi sebagai media toilet training. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan memberikan pengalaman langsung kepada ibu mengenai strategi toilet training melalui modifikasi penguatan positif dan modeling berbasis video animasi. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan ibu sebesar 80,7% setelah kegiatan. Para ibu juga mendapatkan pengalaman langsung melalui penerapan bagan bintang sebagai bentuk penguatan positif dan penggunaan video animasi sebagai media modeling. Strategi ini terbukti efektif, ditunjukkan oleh keberhasilan anak peserta dalam memenuhi tujuh indikator keberhasilan toilet training. Kesimpulannya, kegiatan pengabdian ini berhasil meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan ibu dalam menerapkan teknik penguatan positif dan modeling menggunakan video animasi untuk melatih toilet training pada anak usia 1–3 tahun
