    No full text
This study aimed to identify the values of some kinematic variables that influence the achievement time in the 4 × 10 m shuttle run test within the King Abdullah II Award for Physical Fitness. Additionally, the study examined the relationship between these variables and the achievement time. To achieve this, the researchers used a descriptive approach with eight healthy male students from first Zarqa education. The participants were recorded using two Sony HDR-CX220E video cameras at a speed of 50 frames per second. The study examined the following variables: stride length, stride frequency, rotation time, the high gravity center of the body at the moment of repression, average speed, and efficiency index. The results showed that the average stride length was 1.11 meters, representing approximately 76% of the average height of the participants. The average number of steps was 36.25. Additionally, the study revealed a statistically significant correlation between the completion time and both the average speed and the efficiency index. The findings also indicated that variables such as average speed, stride length, efficiency index, and step frequency could explain 100% of the variance in the dependent variable, which is the completion time. The researchers recommend that physical education teachers consider the findings of this study to improve training and performance

This quasi-experimental study investigated the effectiveness of an electronic collocation-based instructional program on Jordanian EFL tenth-grade students\u27 word knowledge. Two sections of 25 students each, from a government school in Irbid, were randomly assigned as experimental and control groups. A word knowledge pre-test, which included a section measuring word meaning and another assessing word collocation, was administered to determine whether the two groups were homogeneous before implementing the program. Lexical collocations in Action Pack 10 were identified through a content analysis of selected reading passages, and these collocations were taught to the experimental group using Quizlet, a flashcard mobile application. The control group received no collocation instruction. After the treatment, both groups took a word knowledge post-test. The findings indicated that the experimental group outperformed the control group in the overall word knowledge test, as well as in each section of the test: word meaning and word collocatio

    No full text
The study aimed to develop a scale for measuring creative thinking, evaluate its validity and reliability, and apply it to students at the University of Jordan. Two equivalent forms of the scale Form (A) and Form (B) were created, each consisting of 14 questions. The scale was administered to a sample of 73 male and female undergraduate students, who were randomly divided into two groups: 37 students completed Form (A), and 36 students completed Form (B). The results indicated that the scale possesses appropriate psychometric properties. The reliability coefficients, measured by internal consistency, were 0.926 for Form (A) and 0.924 for Form (B). The criterion-related validity index, in relation to the Torrance Test of Creative Thinking, was 0.416. Pearson’s correlation coefficients between the scores on the verbal forms of the two scales were 0.462, and 0.409 for the morphological forms. The validity of the scale was further confirmed through face validity and construct validity. Subsequently, a final version of the scale was developed for the study, consisting of 13 questions. It was applied to a sample of 305 undergraduate students at the University of Jordan, randomly selected. The findings showed that students’ overall level of creative thinking was moderate, with scores indicating an average for total scores, fluency, and flexibility skills, and a weak level for originality. The results also revealed no statistically significant differences in creative thinking related to academic level. However, significant differences were found based on gender, favoring females. Additionally, significant differences were observed concerning faculty affiliation, favoring medical faculties, and based on cumulative average, with higher scores among students with an excellent average. The study recommends conducting further research on different age groups and expanding the scope to assess the scale’s validity and reliability across broader populations

    No full text
This study aims to explore the reality of the regulatory and legislative roles practiced by members of the 17th Jordanian Parliament, from the perspective of political science faculty members at Jordanian universities. The study was based on the hypothesis that there is a statistically significant relationship at the level of (α ≥ 0.05) between the personal variables of the study sample members and their perceptions of the members’ practical roles in the 17th Parliament. To achieve this aim, the researcher employed the descriptive analytical survey method and developed a questionnaire, then verified its psychometric properties regarding accuracy and reliability. The questionnaire included two sections: one for legislative roles, consisting of 16 main questions, and another for regulatory roles, consisting of 13 questions. It was distributed to 78 members of the study sample, of whom 56 responded. Twenty-two questionnaires were excluded due to invalidity, leaving 56 questionnaires for analysis. The study concluded that the MPs’ exercise of regulatory and legislative roles was modest and below expectations. Additionally, the findings showed no significant discrepancy in evaluations of the practice of the 17th Parliament, regardless of differences in the academic rank, narrow specialization, or sector of the respondents. Based on these findings, the study recommends strengthening the independence of MPs and enhancing their regulatory and legislative roles by providing them with experts in politics, economics, and law. Furthermore, it suggests fostering genuine cooperation between the House of Representatives and political science faculty members by enabling seminars and lectures to be delivered to parliamentarians, thereby raising their level of parliamentary practice at both legislative and regulatory levels
